Chapter IV

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the findings of the study from which conclusions were

drawn. These findings and conclusions were used as the basis for recommendations of the

study.

Summary

The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of music to the Students of the

College of Engineering on the University of Southeastern Philippines. There were 25

Students who were identified as Respondents.

Mean and percentage were employed in order to determine the effects as they

listen to music.

Conclusions

Based on the findings the following conclusions were drawn:

1. Music affects the following factors of the Students namely: Physical

Appearance/Development, Intellectual, Social, Emotional, and Moral.

2. The Students from the College of Engineering were ambivalent on the over-all

effects of music on their Physical Appearance.

3. On the Intellectual Development, the Respondents were ambivalent on the effects

of music. They, however, claimed that music have high effect as far as updating

their knowledge about culture.

4. Music has its high effects on the Social and Moral development of Students.
5. Music has its high effect and influence in the Emotional Development of the

Student. Emotional Development is ranked first from the factors that are influence

by the music. It means music have its most influence in the emotional aspects of

the Students.

6. Majority of the Students listened music daily together with everyone who listen

with them.

Recommendations

1. Students are advised to avoid listening music alone because it hinders their

interaction with other people and highly affects their social development.

2. Students can use music as a tool to create a positive emotion and mood. But

students are advised not to be driven emotionally by music; they must still be self-

controlled and disciplined because mind must be first before the heart.

3. Students must be careful in listening different kinds of music because not all

music have god effects on them but some have bad effects.

4. Students must choose to listen to music with positive outlooks to help them

develop to have a positive attitude.

5. Those Students who learn more efficiently when listening to music are advised to

use music as a tool in developing their competence in studying and in intellectual

aspects. But those Students who lose their focus and concentration while listening

to music are advised to study on silent places.

6. Teachers and Parents should always remind Students to prioritize their studies,

thus, the need to study lessons every day.
