St. Vincent de Paul was ordained a priest on September 23, 1600. Vincent devoted him-
self entirely to the alleviation of the sufferings of the poor, and to that purpose estab-
lished the Confraternities of Charity, later known as the Ladies of Charity in 1617. Pope
Leo XIII appointed him patron saint of all works of charity of the Catholic Church in
1883. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul tries to follow his model by respecting the
dignity of the poor. The role of the Vincentian is to provide loving and compassionate
interest in individuals. If that interest calls for food, clothing or other assistance, so be
it. However, it is in loving where the contact with Christ emerges. That contact with
Christ is what separates the Society of St. Vincent de Paul from just another social
agency. If you are interested in the works of the St. Andrew Conference of St. Vincent
de Paul, the next meeting is Tuesday Oct.5 at 7:00.

This semester is on Divine Revelation and Sacred Scripture. The content of
our program is based on the USCCB Doctrinal Guidelines for High School
Catechesis. Life Teen recommends that a 4 year catechetical plan be im-
planted in each parish to ensure complete and quality catechesis is offered
to every teen involved in the Life Teen Program.

Many of the events need volunteers for transportation. All volunteers must
have a completed volunteer packet and drivers form on file with the Archdio-

make ethnic pizzas! The challenge is to create your own unique
pizza celebrating your ethnic heritage. Bring ready-made crust (to
decrease baking time) and whatever toppings you wish to reflect your
heritage. For ideas, "Google" key words like "Chinese pizza" or "Irish
pizza."

Try to be as creative as possible provided your pizza is edible for the
group! Meet in the Life Teen room from 12-2 pm. We'll get into the
Halloween spirit with the Disney movie, "The Nightmare Before
Christmas" and enjoy the fruits of our labor.
November 1: Happy Thanksgiving! Let's show our thanks by prepar-
ing and serving a meal to the CCD teachers and their classes. Meet
in the Parish Hall at 5:15 pm. Pick up is at 7:30 pm. This event will
take place during Monday night CCD, so if you're a CHAMPS mem-
ber and you're enrolled in Monday night CCD, you may not be able to
participate in this event b/c you will miss your CCD class for the eve-
ning. However, helpers will be needed for clean up after CCD.
December 4: Fleece Blanket Party in room 202 & 203 from 6-8 PM.
Each youth must bring 4 yards of fleece (2 yards solid color/2 yards
with a print) and a pair of heavy duty scissors. We make the blankets
and donate them to children at a local shelter. Snack donations will be
appreciated.
December 11: CHAMPS/EDGE Christmas Party at Brunswick Bowl-
ing on Old Roswell Rd from 2:30 to 4:30, Cosmic style! $20 CASH
per child (includes pizza, drink, shoe rental, and bowling). Don't for-
get to wear your Christmas gear! 785 Old Roswell Rd, Roswell/770-
998-9437. Each person is required to bring a gift of their choosing for
the Giving Tree at St. Andrews. Please bring the gift wrapped, and
for a needy child in your age group (something that you would like for
yourself).

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The Knights of Columbus will be holding a membership
drive on October 9th and 10th after all masses.
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal service organization
of over 1.7 million members, In Service to the Church, the Commu-
nity, Family and Youth. If you are a Catholic man 18 years or older,
you owe it to yourself and your family to find out more about the
many benefits of membership.
Please stop by our hospitality table after Mass, and speak with one of
our members about joining a very rewarding organization.
OVER 55 CLUB:
Please join the Over 55 Club on Friday, October 1st for their
monthly meeting at 1:00pm in the RCIA room. You are invited to
attend the 12:15 Mass on that day for the Deceased Members of the
Over 55 Club.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Please sign-up for Eucharistic Adoration for the month of
October. You can spend a quiet hour once a week with Our
Lord, listening and praying before the Blessed Sacrament.
You can sign-up in the chapel during the week or in the nar-
thex on weekends. Guardians commit to one hour a week
(of your choice) for one month.
We would like to thank both Christa Frye and Gabriella Smith for
heading up the Eucharistic Adoration Guardian Ministry. If you are
unable to make your assigned time slot and are unable to find a re-

WOMEN’S GUILD NEWS
Women's Guild will be going to Milledgeville State Hospital
on Monday, October 25 to host a party for the patients. If
you are interested in helping please call Bonnie
Petrukovich at 770-642-6810. Items needed are t-shirts, socks,
baseball caps, purses (no long handle), playing cards and
stuffed animals. All items can be new or used in good condition.
We also make up “ditty bags” so they could use sample size sham-
poo, conditioner, toothpaste, and soap. You can place your items in
the box in the Ushers room.

CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
The local Catholic Campaign for Human Development committee will
host an information night explaining the parish and local community
grant application process on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the Catholic Center

PRESENTACIONES
Las presentaciones se hacen a los 40 días de nacido el niño/a, nece-
sita apuntarse una semana antes en la oficina.
Presentaciones de 3 años, el niño/a tiene que estar bautizado y ser
miembro de la iglesia de St. Andrew. No se hacen misas de presen-
tación de 3 años.
QUINCEANERAS
La familia debe estar registrada en St. Andrew. La joven tiene que estar en
proceso de preparación para la confirmación, pertene-
cer al grupo juvenil y asistir a tres charlas de prepara-
ción. La misa de Acción de Gracia se celebra el tercer
sábado de mes en el horario de 11:00 am, 1:00 pm y
3:00 pm. Registrarse en la oficina del Ministerio 5
meses antes de la fecha.

Presentación vibrante y activa de Jesús basada en el AMOR y lo que
este es capaz de realizar, no en el temor ni en el castigo sino adaptada
a las necesidades de la sociedad actual. 15 semanas consecutivas.

SEMINARIO DE VIDA EN EL ESPIRITU.
El grupo de oración Semillas de Paz y Amor TE INVITA a
este seminario de ocho semanas patrocinado por el padre
Carlos Vargas y el grupo carismático de la Arquidiócesis.

GRUPO DE JOVENES ADULTOS(19-36 ANOS)
Oración, Diversión y Amistad.
Se reúnen todos los viernes de 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm en el salón
207. Todos son bienvenidos
BAUTISMO. Los padres tienen que estar registrados y asistiendo a la
misa dominical por tres meses antes del bautismo de sus hijos.
Presentar Acta de Nacimiento del niño/a. Padrinos casados sacra-
mentalmente deben de traer copia del certificado de Matrimonio.
Solteros: mayores de 16 años de edad, certificado de Bautismo.
Parejas en unión libre no califican para ser padrinos. Pláticas de
preparación: Primer Martes del mes de 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, asisten-
cia obligatoria de padres y padrinos. Ceremonia Bautismal segundo
Sábado de mes a las 11:00 am.
CONFIRMACION. Este curso de preparación es de dos años para
jóvenes que han hecho la Primera Comunión y estén en noveno o
decimo grado. Inscripción en la oficina del Ministerio Hispano.
MATRIMONIO. Inscritos en la parroquia. Reservar la fecha con seis meses de
anticipación. Certificado de bautismo actualizada, licencia pre-matrimonial,
clases de preparación LLASU (Llamados a ser uno). Cita con el padre. Inscri-
birse en el Ministerio Hispano.
CATECUMENADO: Eres tu un adulto católico que te falta uno o todos los
sacramentos? Ofrecemos un curso especial donde te preparamos para que
puedas recibir los sacramentos y cumplir así con los mandatos de la Iglesia
Católica. El Rito de Iniciación Católica para Adultos y jóvenes mayores de 9
años imparte las clases los domingos de 5::30-7:00 pm. Inscribirse en el
Ministerio Hispano.
BODA COMUNITARIA ABRIL 30 2011. PARA PAREJAS REGIS-
TRADAS EN LA IGLESIA DE ST. ANDREW Y QUE VIVEN EN
UNION LIBRE POR UN PERIODO DE MAS DE TRES ANOS.. Si
les falta algún sacramento asistan a las clases para adultos los domin-
gos a las 5:30 pm. Inscríbanse lo antes posible en el Ministerio Hispa-
no. Solamente aceptaremos 10 parejas.
