THANKSGIVING MASS SCHEDULE
St. Martin de Porres will celebrate a Thanksgiving Eve Mass
on Wednesday, November 22nd at 6:30PM. Please bring a do-
nation of bread and canned goods to be donated to the Little
Portion Friary. The parishes of St. Lawrence, Ss. Columba-
Brigid, and Blessed Trinity will share Mass together as they did
last year, 10 AM at Blessed Trinity on Thanksgiving
Day. Please sign up if you plan to attend so we have enough
bread to share at everyone's Thanksgiving Table.
FAITH FORMATION
The Faith Formation committee is seeking one to three people
from each parish to help us plan for Adult Faith Formation
(temporary Key Person - Pat Dyer) offerings as well as youth
ministry Key Person Lanette Jenning,) young adult ministry
(Key Person Deborah Jones,) sacramental preparation (Key
Person Nancy Arnold,) and K-8 planning (Key Person Toni
Goins-Singletary.) Your commitment would be one year and
four meetings. Please call the rectory if you can help. This is
your chance to tell us what you need and want to see planned
for Family 21.
The Faith Formation Team is seeking a Key Person to lead the
Adult Arm of the Team. Your commitment is to 9-10 Team
meetings per year and 3-4 Arm meetings per year. Support for
the role is available, Please see Pat Dyer if interested.

ROAD TO RENEWAL NEWS
Wow, in just a couple of days we went from feeling like it was
summer to forecasts of snow flurries. Buffalo is a place of
many seasons depending on the day! Along with our current
season of Saints and Souls, that November always brings,
we’ve been a few weeks now into a new season of experience
of “parish” and “family” with our Road to Renewal. It will cer-
tainly take some getting used to for all of us as a constant rota-
tion of clergy, exposure to different styles of liturgy, and a
charge to consider the other parishes in our Family in pioneer-
ing collaborations and sharing will test our creativity and open-
ness in responding to the challenging realities of the Church of
Buffalo and the signs of the times. I will say that your clergy –
me, Fr. Jud, Fr. Aaron, Fr. Ron, Deacons Ron, Paul, Don, Jerry,
Mike and Jason – have been so pleased with our reception and
welcome by all the parish communities. Thank you for making
our adjustments so much easier. I thank Deacons Don & Mike
for putting together the clergy rotation schedule. “Who’s-
supposed-to-be-where” mapping is a monumental task. Be as-
sured that our Pillar Groups continue working toward a Family
Action Plan for our Family 21 of parishes that will set goals and
measures for outcomes for the immediate years to follow. We
can set our eyes on the other November highlight – Thanksgiv-
ing – as we take time to pause and give thanks for God’s count-
less blessings, especially the gifts of each other… such a rich
harvest!

November time
W e’ve entered into the time that brings our liturgical
(church) year to an end with the Feast of Christ the King
(November 26th) marked especially by the Solemnity of All
Saints’ and the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed that
we celebrated this past week. We remember our connection to
the communion of saints – those living and dead who have striv-
en to be like Christ. We call upon those saints, who have gone
before us with the sign of faith, to intercede for us before God.
We try to model our lives after theirs. Do you know something
of the saint after whom you were named? At the same time, we
fondly hold in our hearts those loved ones who are with the
Lord. We celebrate them with our hope that we will join them
one day in the joy of full union with God forever! “The Catholic
Church sets aside November as a month of remembrance for the
faithful departed. Take time to pray for those who you know
who have died. Mexican families celebrate the communion of
saints with Dia del los Muertos – Day of the Dead – a festive
time of remembering departed loved ones with special meals,
treats, and visits to the cemetery. Display photos of your beloved
dead in your home this November. Place white candles near the
pictures to recall the promise of Christ’s resurrection. Reach out
to someone who has lost a loved one recently. Invite them to
share memories, pray with them, or simply be a presence for

Eternal rest unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual life shine upon
them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy
