1. SUN (Surya)
The Sun is the sovereign planet of the zodiac, furnishing the light and heat upon which all life
depends. The Sun's position in a person's horoscope determines his or her external
appearance and public persona and provides the energy for one's personal power and
influence over others. The Sun governs the fields of philosophy, government service,
churches and temples, the medical profession, gold trade and public fame. Solar energy is
associated with the fire element, the color red, fatherhood and masculinity, royalty and
political power.
If the Sun is exalted one will be well-read, pious, strong, compassionate and untroubled. But
if the position of the Sun in one's horoscope is weak or afflicted then contrary results may be
expected. RED is the cosmic color transmitted by rubies and other natural red gems. Red
color waves are hot and therefore useful in curing diseases caused by excessive cold and
moisture in the body, viz. cold, flu, anemia, low blood pressure, heart and circulatory
problems, as well as foolish behavior and learning deficiencies. In addition, Solar gemstones
confer courage, eliminate sadness, moderate excess sensuality, and help elevate one's status
in society.
GEMSTONES ruled by the Sun are natural ruby, red spinel, red garnet, rubellite and other
natural pink or red gems with crystal clear transparency. In order to properly transmit solar
energy, Sun stones must be flawless (eye-clean) and should be set in gold.
NOTE: As the Sun is incompatible with Saturn, Venus, Rahu and Ketu, Sun gem such as
ruby should not be used with blue sapphire, diamond, hessonite or cat's eye. Specifically
designed talismans like the Navaratna (Nine Gems setting) are an exception to this principle.
The particular hue or type of red color recommended for each social-religious-economic
station of society are listed as follows:
1) Religious practitioners, scientists and educators should use pink red (most women are also
advised to use pink);
2. MOON (Chandra)
The Moon governs the mind, and it's position in one's horoscope determines a person's
habitual patterns of thought, feeling and volition. It rules all professions associated with
water, such as sailing and fishing, and it influences the tidal patterns of oceans and seas as
well as bodily fluids. Lunar energy is associated with the water element, the color white,
motherhood and femininity, romance and love. The Moon is a soft, sensitive planet with
fluid, feminine qualities.
If the Moon is exalted one will be wealthy, industrious and respected. But if the position of
the Moon is weak or afflicted then contrary results may be expected. Diabetes, alcohol and
drug abuse, and all types of emotional distress are also associated with debilitated Lunar
energy. ORANGE is the cosmic color transmitted by pearls and other Lunar gems. Orange
color waves are cold and therefore useful in treating diseases of the bodily secretions and
blood caused by excessive heat in the body. Fine Moon jewels are known to be helpful in
cases of mental derangements caused by an excess of heat in the heart and brain. Moon astral
talismans will also enhance all mental faculties, pacify emotions, induce tranquility, and
improve artistic creativity.
GEMSTONES ruled by the Moon are natural pearl & moonstone. Flawless (eye-clean)
stones are required in order for Moon astral talismans to properly transmit beneficial Lunar
energy.
NOTE: As the Moon is incompatible with Rahu and Ketu, Moon gems such as pearl should
not be used with hessonite or cat's-eye. Specifically designed talismans like the Navaratna
(nine gems setting) are an exception to this principle.
The particular hue or type of white color recommended for each social-religious-economic
station of society are listed as follows:
3. JUPITER (Brihaspati)
Jupiter is the most auspicious and beneficent planet. Wealthy and influential individuals
generally possess a strong Jupiter in their horoscopes, and this reflects the rich rewards of
positive karma accumulated in previous lives. Jupiter governs religious activity, financial
affairs, personal happiness, and teaching. Jupiter also determines one's spiritual orientation. It
is associated with the color yellow, the bodily fluids, education, pilgrimage places, and
transcendental wisdom. The Sanskrit name for Jupiter is "guru," indicating a source of divine
knowledge and spiritual insight.
If Jupiter is exalted one will be a leader of men, powerful, respected, although susceptible to
anger. But if the position of Jupiter in a person's horoscope is debilitated Jupiter can cause
personal unhappiness, egotism, sloth, and legal problems. LIGHT BLUE is the cosmic color
transmitted by yellow sapphires and other natural yellow gems. Light blue color waves, being
very cold, relate to the ethereal nature and are helpful in curing diseases of the glands, the fat
system and bodily cavities. Jupiter astral talismans are known to enhance spiritual
understanding, facilitate pregnancy and childbirth, improve marital relations, increase one's
fortune, and help balance the endocrine system. Jupiter jewels are known to be especially
favorable to women by increasing their happiness and contentment.
NOTE: As Jupiter is incompatible with Mercury and Venus, Jupiter gems such as yellow
sapphire should not be used with emerald or diamond. Specifically designed talismans like
the Navaratna (nine gems setting) are an exception to this principle.
The particular hue or type of yellow color recommended for each social-religious-economic
station of society are listed as follows:
Rahu is by nature a malevolent planetary influence which can cause personal frustration,
sacrileges habits, abuse of alcohol and drugs, possession of ghosts and demons, and
infectious diseases. However, when located in a powerful position in one's horoscope, Rahu
can elevate one to positions of great wealth and power and confer public influence over the
masses. Rahu is associated with serpents, fear, karmic retribution, and un-virtuous under
world characters.
Persons with Rahu exalted are wealthy and fortunate. But those with a weak or afflicted
Rahu in their horoscope have a tendency to suffer from fear of supernatural phenomena and
suicidal impulses. ULTRA-VIOLET is the cosmic color transmitted by hessonite and other
orange gems. Ultra-violet color waves are the coldest of all the cosmic rays and should be
used for ailments caused by extreme over-heating, i.e., high fever, hyper-acidity, indigestion,
hyper-sexuality, insomnia, and during child birth. Rahu astral talismans may also help divert
disasters, prevent insanity, counteract poisons, and protect one from demoniac influences.
Rahu is particularly associated with scientific genius and the ability to deal successfully with
people of lower status, such as servants, employees, and underworld characters. In India, it is
still common practice to place a fine hessonite gem into the mouth of a deceased person
before cremation. This is to insure that the dearly departed will not be obstructed by Rahu on
their journey through time.
GEMSTONES governed by Rahu include hessonite, spessertite, zircon (hyacinth), and other
natural gems of golden-orange to brownish-orange hues. Only flawless (eye-clean) stones
transmit beneficial Rahu energy.
NOTE: As Rahu is incompatible with Sun and Moon, Rahu gems such as hessonite should
not be used with ruby or pearl. Specifically designed talismans like the Navaratna (Nine
Gems setting) are an exception to this principle.
The particular hue or type of orange color recommended for each social-religious-economic
station of society are listed as follows:
5. MERCURY (Budha)
Mercury governs intelligence and therefore rules such fields as education, literature,
communication, and public speaking. It is associated with the earth element, cold energy, the
color green, agriculture, travel, and the nervous system. Endowed with youthful, fast-moving
energy, Mercury appears prominently in the horoscopes of people who are playful,
enthusiastic, and talkative. Mercury also governs astrologers, clerks, accounts, sculptors, and
any other profession requiring skillful use of the hands. Mercury enhances the ability to learn
languages, improves memory, and facilitates the power of speech. People with a strong
Mercury generally have the ability to perform activities quickly and handle several matters
simultaneously.
If Mercury is exalted one will be educated, happy, fortunate and highly respected. But if
Mercury occupies a weak or harmful position in one's horoscope, one becomes prone to
speech and hearing impediments, deceptive behavior, and lack of vitality. GREEN is the
cosmic color transmitted by emeralds and other green gems. Green color waves relate to the
earth element and are cold by nature. This color, being heavy, influences the heavy organs of
the body such as the flesh, liver, kidneys and intestines. Mercury astral talismans are also
known to enhance psychic powers, improve memory and learning, strengthen the nervous
system, and provide protection against snakes and envious people.
NOTE: As Mercury is incompatible with the Moon, Mercury gems such as emerald should
not be used with pearl or moonstone. Specifically designed talismans like the Navaratna
(Nine gems setting) are an exception to this principle.
The particular hue or type of green color recommended for each social-religious-economic
station of society are listed as follows:
6. Venus (Shukra)
Venus is a beneficent planet which rules sex and sensuality, love and marriage, material
comfort and luxury. Singers and dancers, artists and craftsmen, actors and prostitutes, and
other professions involved in entertaining people are strongly influenced by Venus's sensual
energy. A person with a strong Venus in his or her horoscope tends to have a happy marriage,
enjoy material comforts, is optimistic and charismatic, makes others happy, and moves with
physical grace and coordination. Diplomats and peacemakers are often governed by Venus.
Venus is associated with flowers, jewels, and other beautiful objects, as well as semen, sweet
foods and flavors, tropical climates, sexual activity, nice clothes, and various other sensual
pleasures. People with a powerful Venus often experience distress of the excretory system
due to overindulgence in food and drink.
When Venus is exalted one will be humanitarian, long-lived and possess many good
qualities. But if the position of Venus in one's horoscope is weak or afflicted, one becomes
vulnerable to loss of libido, impotence and sterility, venereal (lit. of Venus) complaints, and
rapid aging. INDIGO is the cosmic color transmitted by diamonds and other colorless gems.
This color influences all watery elements in the body, especially mucous and sperm. Venus
astral talismans are known to induce purity of body and mind, confer artistic talent and
worldly happiness, strengthen the bones, and improve the quality of all bodily secretions,
such as mucous, hormones, and semen. The Sanskrit name for the planet Venus is "Shukra"
which also means "semen."
Venus transmits it's cosmic energy through diamonds, quartz crystals, zircons, goshenites,
white topaz, white sapphires, and other colorless gemstones with clear transparency. Various
subtle hues such as pink, yellow and blue tints are suitable for different types of professions
and social positions, as long as the gem is void of solid color.
NOTE: As Venus is incompatible with the Sun and Moon, diamonds and other colorless
gems should not be used with rubies or pearls. Specifically designed talismans like the
Navaratna (nine gems setting) are an exception to this principle.
The particular hue or type of tinted colorless gems recommended for each desired social-
religious-economic station of society are listed as follows:

located in a powerful position or conjoined with a beneficent planet. Ketu governs theology,
monastic life, crime and punishment, hidden enemies and dangers, and the occult. Unless
correctly balanced, Ketu can cause poverty and other obstructions in one's life. Ketu is
associated with suffering and the consequent aspiration for spiritual liberation.
If Ketu is exalted one will be and wealthy and protected from evil. But if Ketu appears in a
weak or harmful position in one's horoscope, one becomes prone to fatal diseases of a
mysterious nature as well as compulsive gambling. INFRA-RED is the cosmic color
transmitted by cat's eye gems. Infra-red color waves are the hottest of all the cosmic rays and
are known to be useful in many chronic and terminal illness such as cancer and all forms of
paralysis. Infra-red color also aids digestive problems and skin diseases. Ketu astral talismans
can also enhance psychic powers, confer protection from hidden enemies, and avert dangers
such as drowning, intoxication, and criminal punishment. Ketu is also said to bring good luck
to gamblers (if well-placed).
GEMSTONES ruled by Ketu include Cat's eye, chrysoberyl, beryl, apatite, tourmaline and
other yellow to greenish-brown gems which display a strong chatoyant "cat's eye" light
reflection on the surface and often within the crystal when cabochon cut. These gems should
also possess a high degree of transparency in order to properly transmit beneficial Ketu
energy.
NOTE: As Ketu is incompatible with Sun and Moon, cat's eye gems should not be used with
rubies or pearls. Specifically designed talismans like the Navaratna (nine gems setting) are an
exception to this practice.
The particular hue or type of cat's eye color recommended for each social-religious-economic
station of society are listed as follows:

death, yoga practice, foreign travel, hunters and thieves. While malevolent by nature, when
properly placed or balanced Saturn can also induce great virtues, such as compassion, charity,
longevity, meditative insight, and positive public influence.
When Saturn is exalted one will be long-lived, charitable, lavish, proficient and an
affectionate mate. But if Saturn is weak in a person's horoscope, one becomes vulnerable to
headaches, neuralgia, and other disorders of the nervous system, as well as epilepsy,
stupidity, and fainting. VIOLET is the cosmic color transmitted by blue sapphires and other
natural blue to violet gems. Violet color waves are related to Saturn, the planet which governs
suffering and poverty. Saturn also rules the entire nervous system. Therefore, most diseases
of the nerves, such as neuroses and nervous tension may be caused by an afflicted Saturn.
Saturn being the slowest planet also causes diseases of a chronic nature and can cause delays
if ill-disposed. Saturn Astral Talismans are known to help strengthen a person's nervous
system. They also repel envy from others, avert demoniac influences, provide protection
against dangers during travel, make one more serious and far-sighted, and induce mental
tranquility.
Saturn transmits it's cosmic energy through blue sapphires, blue spinels, tanzanite, indicolite,
iolite, amethyst and other natural blue to violet gems with transparent clarity. Only flawless
gems possess the capacity to properly transmit positive astral energy from Saturn.
NOTE: As Saturn is incompatible with Sun, Moon and Mars, Saturn gems such as blue
sapphire should not be used with ruby, pearl or red coral. Specifically designed talismans like
the Navaratna (nine gems setting) are an exception to this principle.
The particular hue or type of blue color recommended for each social-religious-economic
station of society are listed as follows:

9. MARS (Mangala)
Mars is a masculine planet which radiates an intense and fiery energy. Mars governs soldiers
and warfare, ambassadors and orators, restaurateur and cooks, athletes and pilots, real estate
and construction. It rules the color red, the metal element, vegetation, and the basic energy of
life. The position of Mars in one's horoscope determines relations among brothers, courage
and strength, vitality and sexual drive. When Mars is powerfully placed, a person becomes
highly energetic and devotes his or her energy to constructive endeavors and worthy causes.
When afflicted, Mars causes a person to behave erratically and waste energy on worthless
pursuits. A severely debilitated Mars often indicates a violent temper and destructive
tendencies.
When Mars is exalted one has great energy, is learned, well-known and regal, But if Mars is
located in a weak or afflicted position in one's horoscope one becomes prone to boils (due to
impure blood), unstable blood pressure, anemia, and violence. YELLOW is the cosmic color
transmitted by coral and other ochre colored gems. Yellow color waves are related to the
lymph nodes, bone marrow, blood, and head. Mars astral talismans may help to strengthen
these vital elements. They also help avert violence and warfare, moderate lust, improve
finances, and reduce mental depression.
Gemstones ruled by Mars include natural coral, carnelian, and other pink to red ocher
colored gems. As always, the use of fine quality gems, free of defects, is imperative for
transmission of auspicious astral energy rays.
NOTE: As Mars is incompatible with Mercury and Saturn , Mars gems like red coral should
not be used with emerald or blue sapphires. Specifically designed talismans like the
Navaratna (nine gems setting) are an exception to this principle.
The particular hue or type of reddish ochre color recommended for each social-religious-
economic station in society are listed as follows:
Healing Powers
The deficiencies of cosmic rays due to the planetary position in Janam Kundali or Horoscope
causes an imbalance of Chakras. These Chakras are the energy wheels that balance the spin
factor of the human aura. An imbalance in the spin factors leads to various diseases and
problems. Highly sensitive and radioactive gemstones help to balance the spin factor of the
human aura. When these spin factors are balanced the person becomes "Healthy, Wealthy and
Prosperous".
The secret healing power of the colourful gemstones exercises a fascinating influence on
human life. Gem therapy can even change the entire course of life. Gemstones have proved to
be of great value to mankind in counterbalancing the malefic effects of various planets and
stars on human life. The mystical elements arise from the rainbow which is composed of
seven brilliant colours known as VIBGYOR in short. Each gemstones is a highly sensitive
radioactive crystal of cosmic rays or colours. Each cosmic ray contains a particular amount
of element in it and our body also contains similar elements.
When one suffers from a deficiency of cosmic rays, an imbalance is caused in the Chakras,
thus leading to diseases and problems. When the spin factor is balanced, the chakras will help
the body to be able to convert the food which we eat into proper nourishment. The Chakras
(the energy wheels) speed up or the slowed-down vortex. The Vertices actually break the
molecular structure of food into carbon, hydrogen oxygen and nitrogen plus traces of
minerals.
All the diseases and problems are caused due to disruption in the spinning vertices, if one of
the minerals is not transmitted the cell is not properly nourished and hence the person falls
seek. When this happens an appropriate gemstone ring can be prescribed to the affected
person. The gemstone works towards transmitting the required rays into Chakras and filtering
out the negative influences. Therefore, before wearing a gemstone it's attributes, such as
name, composition, weight, density, specific gravity and radioactive index should be kept in
mind.

Choosing Gemstones
Choosing Gemstones
It is very important to choose the key gemstone that would help an individual in all affairs.
There are several methods by which gemstones are advised to individuals. Some are of the
opinion that Gemstones be prescribed for planets having a malefic influence
influen on the
individual. Others say that Gemstones be prescribed for planets that are having a benefic
influence on the individual. There are other methods too.
Expereince shows it that Gemstones should be advised for planets that assume a key role in
the chart
art and cast a benefic influence on the individual. This subject calls for lot of
independent research. Here is a basic method that would be applicable in most of the cases:
1) Look at the ascendant Lord. This planet is the most important planet and generally
gener controls
everything in an individual?s life and most importantly health. If health is Gone then
everything is Gone. The Ascendant Lord should be given the first priority in all cases.
2) Look at the key planets for the ascendant.,. For example for the
the Aries Ascendant Jupiter is
a Key planet. If Jupiter is occupying Friendly signs, is in exaltation or is occupying the
auspicious houses then Jupiter?s Gemstone i.e., the Yellow Sapphire be advised to the native.
5) Examination should be made of the Major period. If the Lord of the Major period qualifies
on the above four criteria then its gemstone be advised.
6) Combinations of Gemstones are allowed provided they are not enemies to each other. For
example wearing a Ruby as well as a blue Sapphire is not advisable.
7) Lord of the ascendant ,fifth house and ninth house invariably are good for the native if
placed well. Their gemstones should be considered.
FENG SHUI
How does Feng Shui Work
There are 9 areas in our home and businesses that we can tap into to create powerful, positive
results. Often overnight! Those areas are:
Career & Opportunity, Knowledge, Family, Health, Wealth &Good Luck, Fame &
Recognition, Partnership & Marriage, Children & Creativity, Helpful People & Travel.
Each wall and corner in our environment represents one of these areas.
For example, if you want a new career or to advance your present one you would go to the
area that represents Career and create positive energy by adding something, like a lush
healthy plant, a fountain (moving water represents prosperity in Feng Shui) or a picture that
inspires you. You may also need to take something away from the area, like clutter.
The concept of Yin and Yang is one of the most fundamental and profound theories of Feng
Shui. It is the Chinese perspective on balance and continual change. The basics of this deep
and extremely significant diagram are pretty subtle yet profound. Yin and Yang is a
foundation theory for Feng Shui that supports many other theories including the Five
Elements Theory and the Environment.
Uniqueness
Yin and Yang are dependent opposites that must always be in balance. The opposites flow in
a natural cycle always replacing the other. Just as the seasons cycle and create times of heat
and cold, Yin and Yang cycles through active and passive, dark and light, etc. Yin and Yang
evolved from a belief of mutually dependent opposites that cannot live without the other.
More interestingly, there are little cons in every pro and vice versa. Nothing is total.
The Eastern view of opposites is, excuse the pun, is the opposite of a Western view. Western
philosophy tends to look as things as black or white, right "or" wrong, etc. There is separation
and unrelatedness in the Western perspective. Whereas, the Chinese view is not opposites, it's
perspective. Everything is as evolving and cycling. There is neither right or wrong, but rather
there is balance, transformation interaction, dependent opposition and most importantly
transition.
Symbolism
Yin and Yang can further be explained as a duality that cannot exist without both parts. Here
is a list of some of the many opposites that are contained in such a simple symbol.
Yin - (The Black Portion): Passive, Cold, Death, Winter, Female, Night, Even, Moon, Water
Yang - (The White Portion): Active, Hot, Life, Summer, Male, Day, Odd, Sun, Fire
Within Yang, there is a spot of Yin and vice-versa. Just as in the heart of winter, a seed lays
in wait to become life, so is Yang waited within Yin for its turn. In a hot summer, a sudden
desert storm can bring coolness. This too is an example of how Yin is found in Yang.
Thus we also observe that the separation of the circle (symbolising the earth or alternatively,
the full circle of life) is not cut into straight halves. They are curved and they alternatively
advance and accommodate into each other, depicting the alternation.
Again, there are no absolutes, just cycles in time. This early philosophy of nature, the
complementary alternating forces of Yin and Yang, dark and light, female and male, which
maintain the balance of the cosmos, are the foundation of Feng Shui.
The list has given us a few interpretations of Yin and Yang. Each of this needs to be founded
or instituted in a particular area in the house, depending upon its relevance and prominence.
For example, the night stays in the inner rooms (the energies of the house are concentrated in
the bedroom and kitchen), thus it is a Yin stronghold. On the other hand, the day stays in the
outer rooms (the energies of the house are concentrated in the drawing room, study or the
porch).
Thus, the directional placement and arrangement of the house has to be in a way, that Yin and
Yang are placed properly. For example, as Yang is light, the house should open towards a
source of light and not towards a source of water as the prosperity may 'flow' away. Many
such calculations are based on Yin and Yang 'residences'. However, there are many other
factors like the five elements, directions and magnetism that work closely with Yin and Yang
in Feng Shui.
Yin and Yang affect your home and the way you decorate it. Read about some common
negative problems with houses, and the solutions for them.
The use of Yin and Yang here is to illustrate that your house does not become too dark. On
the other hand, in a big garden, shrubs, rose arches and rockeries can have a pleasing effect
on a flat landscape.
Everyone. Any person who wants to realize their goals and find a perfect balance for
themselves, their family, their employees, or customers can benefit from Feng Shui.
Many people in real estate, retail, professional services, small and large companies and
individuals
duals have enhanced their careers, created strong relationships, resolved conflicts,
overcome challenges, and achieved peace and serenity through the Power ofFengShui.
Businesses using Feng Shui can create low stress, high productivity environments for their
th
employees while conveying an atmosphere of quiet elegance for their customers.
How Feng Shui can help you lead a beautiful life
If your heart doesn't lift when you return home, you need Feng Shui
We did start our stint with Feng Shui with the Yin Yang
Yang and the five elements and now that
we have our basics right, we may question the reason of the whole process. Why should
sophisticated post-moderns
moderns take an interest in an esoteric system of placement that is 3,000
years old so complex? The simple answer being that this wind-and-waterwater philosophy (feng
shui literally translates as "wind" and "water") works with astonishing ease. It's an elegant
antidote to lives abuzz with computers, cell phones, beepers, chattering faxes, and hectic
schedules, which interveneene between the natural world and us. And this is how -
Chinese philosophers believe five things determine a good life: fate, luck, accumulated good
deeds, education, and Feng Shui. We may not be able to control external circumstances, but
we can control our
ur immediate environment by reaching out to opportunity and fortune. If
your heart doesn't lift when you return home each night, you need Feng Shui. If you don't
leave home in the morning refreshed, comforted, and confirmed in your innate worth, you
need Feng
eng Shui. That's the gist of this science. Wherever you live, an efficiency apartment or
a mansion on the hill, your home should be a sanctuary for repairing hurts and celebrating
joys.
Feng Shui uses practical means to alter the physics of space and infuse
infuse rooms with harmony.
Thus, our lives improve because energies in the home are focused. Life opens up in
remarkable ways. For example, a lady resumed her social life after a five-year
five year hiatus when
she placed a four-foot
foot statue of Kwan Yin, goddess of compassion,
compassion, on the crest of a low hill
overlooking her garden and lit the figure with nine (the most auspicious of numbers in Feng
Shui) lights. The illuminated Kwan Yin smiled down on guests gathered on the moon-lit
moon
terrace. The effect was magical. You can replicate
replicate this effect on a balcony, in an alcove,
wherever sufficient space sets off a symbol of affirmative emotions.
In Feng Shui, everything in the universe is linked by Chi, a universal energy, which, when
flowing smoothly, that is, neither too fast nor too
too slow, conducts vital forces to work on our
behalf. If you doubt this, consider where you thrived, did your best work, met people who
greatly interested you. You felt energized in a particular way - well, that was Chi par
excellence. On the other hand, consider
consider where you felt drained and lacking in vital energies.
This is because you, your environment, home or office, were disconnected from the energy at
the centre of the Feng Shui system. When Chi does not flow smoothly in life, difficulties
grow, and one can suffer inexplicable reverses in professional, financial, and relationship
spheres.
Chi
There is nothing which does not require chi to remain alive.
- Ko Hung
Man is in ch’i and chi is within each human being. Heaven and earth and the ten
thousand things require chi to stay alive. A person that knows how to allow his chi to
circulate will Preserve himself and banish illness that might cause him harm.
- Ko Hung
Feng shui concerns itself with arranging and governing our surroundings in order to
positively direct the natural energies – what the Chinese call chi – that affect all our lives. Chi
is an invisible yet potent force that circulates in the environment, and understanding how chi
can be directed to positively affect our lives is the basis for feng shui. Perhaps the most
significant aspect of feng shui is that it is a tool for empowerment. By helping us to
understand how to alter certain physical aspects of our environment through the use of special
techniques and guidelines, it can give us ways to improve and enhance those components of
our lives that we deem the most important.
In ancient times, those people who understood Tao patterned themselves upon the Yin and
the Yang and they lived in harmony…
- Chi Po
Though the Yin and Yang Theory explain to us the foundation of Feng Shui mechanisms, the
rules and remedies of this are also greatly influenced by the Theory of the Five Elements. The
Chinese believe the interactions of these five elements - earth, wood, fire, metal and water -
can be combined in different quantities to create all the permutations that are found in the
forces of nature. A significant portion of Feng Shui practice is based on interpreting how
these elements interact in the physical environment to create good or bad luck.
Water is black or dark blue, a solemn colour. It represents winter and is placed north.
Wood is green, a prosperous colour. It represents spring and is placed east.
Metal is white or golden, an intense colour. It represents fall and is placed west.
CYCLE OF DISTRUCTION
The elements are, in fact, involved in two kinds of cyclical relationships: the productive and
the destructive cycles. In the productive cycle, fire produces earth, which produces metal,
which produces water, which produces wood, which in turn produces fire. In the destructive
cycle, wood destroys earth, earth destroys water, water douses fire, fire melts metal, which in
turn will chop down wood. Feng Shui practice requires that these individual symbolic
elements be incorporated into the positioning of homes and workplaces using the Chinese
system of categorising everybody's date and hour of birth according to the elements.
It would not be beneficial for some one born in a fire year to have much water in the home,
so fountains, aquariums, and dark-coloured objects (black or blue - the water colors) should
be avoided, because water destroys fire. On the other hand, plants and green objects
representing wood are considered auspicious, since wood produces fire. Additionally, it
would be beneficial if one slept in the room located on the south side of the apartment. But
too many plants in the home would not be very auspicious if you were born in an earth year,
because wood destroys earth. Instead, decorating with red objects and bright lights would be
conducive, since fire produces earth. Since earth is the central element of the five, earth
people should sleep at or near the centre of the house.
These examples demonstrate the various combinations that would or would not work from a
Feng Shui point of view. In the case of a family, where each member is born under a different
element, it is the element of the bread-winner or the head of the household that is deemed the
most significant. It is his or her element that should thus be considered when diagnosing for
appropriate positions and furnishings. Other rooms in the house can be designed to benefit
their principal occupant.
Thus on the basis of the five elements, practically all phenomena have been categorised.
Everything, from a river to sounds to the organs in our bodies, can be described in terms of
the five elements. How the things are characterised depends entirely on their individual
qualities. For example, earth is associated with growth and nourishment, so the spleen, which
monitors the blood - digesting debris and producing antibodies when necessary - is
categorised as an earth element!
To conclude, it must be said that you should not use any of these elements haphazardly.
Ideally, a proper Feng Shui analysis should be performed by a qualified practitioner. Used
incorrectly, the elements can cause harm to relationships, health, or money prosperity. When
used correctly,
y, they can strengthen relationships, health, and money. They permit the right
amount of Chi - the auspicious or the good forces and hold back Sha - the unsightly or bad
influences.
You can use the principles of Feng Shui to position your furniture and interior décor in such a
manner that it maximises the positive influences and minimises the negative ones. It is
important to balance Yin and Yang. It is important to maintain harmony
harmony and balance in the
home and can be achieved through strategic positioning of objects and the use of colour and
light.
The left side of a room is the powerful Dragon, and on the right is the sleeping Tiger. Place
things in constant use, such as clocks, electrical equipment etc. to the left, which is the
symbol of power. The opposite half, belonging to the sleeping Tiger, must be kept quiet, calm
and static.
Before we take to the actual scriptures, let's start with some quick tips from these practical
case studies. You shall see how the art of Feng Shui takes stock of the minutest things in
furniture placement.
A psychologist once moved into her new office, a large room with two over-sized
over windows
and three doorsrs (too many!). Key pieces of furniture - sofa for the clients, chair for the
therapist, and a desk chair - had their backs to the room's entrance. Now, this is a no-no
no in
Feng Shui because you should have an unrestricted view of the door so you can see who wh
comes into the room.
The furniture needed to be re-positioned for unobstructed view of the entry-point. Two long
sheer curtains in natural colors were hung from large brass rods over doors that were not in
use (on that note, the ratio of one door to three windows in a room is considered auspicious in
Feng Shui). A large leafy fern was placed on a pedestal table in a corner behind the
diagonally placed sofa. The room was transformed.
On entering the room now, a healing serenity welcomed therapist and client. Sashaying
curtains were hung to diffuse the strong window light. (Excess Chi from harsh light rushes
out the windows, carrying money and opportunities.) As per the auspicious number code -
nine green saplings were placed under the windows to strengthen the healing atmosphere.
The therapist smiled and admitted feeling energized.
You shall see in Feng Shui that along with correct placement of key furniture to control Chi,
the use of natural color palette, sensual textures, tempered sound and even fragrance is also
necessary. For example, Chinese Feng Shui masters believe every room should have a touch
of true Chinese red, because red is considered the color of luck, power, and energy. But
remember just a touch! For in Feng Shui, less is generally more.
Emperor yellow, the second most auspicious color in Feng Shui, is excellent for a narrow
wall with a gentle glaze of raw amber and a flick of Vermillion red. A dreary dining corner
can be transformed with a sunny yellow print tablecloth, tempered with a border of red, blue,
and green and family spirits at dinner are lifted instantly. If you like blue, indigo is preferred
in classical Feng Shui, as it comes from the seven colours of the rainbow and the refractions
from cut crystal.
Symbolism is very far-reaching in its effect on emotions and states of mind, so be attentive to
what is on your walls. An art-collecting family had two dismal images facing people entering
their homes. One was a painting of a dead fish, the other - an exhausted woman hanging
laundry. Both were by well-known artists, but this hardly altered the negative energies
projected. Happily, the paintings were replaced with better ones - with positive Chi.
Interior doorways are dramatized in Asian and European houses to control the flow of Chi. In
a London apartment, moving from one space to another is marked by floor-length door
curtains of heavy bronze velvet tied back with tasseled ropes (tassels are considered lucky
and suggest Chi energy). Japanese indigo-dye cotton curtains veil the upper third of doorways
to control over-strong Chi movement; their designs of flowing water and fish are reflections
of nature. Carved wood panels mounted on lintels subtly suggest the character of the room
beyond.
In many cultures, there is the belief that empty corners harbor spirit mischief. Thus, flower
arrangements, sculpture, screens, corner cabinets, and ferns are placed to create effect in
corners, adding a gentle softness to a room. Curiously, appropriate treatment of corners,
especially the placement of ferns and flowers, subtly raises the energy of a room.
The moral of the story being - Unlike Vaastu more than directions, Feng Shui stresses on
arrangement.
Paintings for the Living Room : Follow these points to maximise the positive influences in
your house.
• Images of swimming fish signify longevity.
• Lambs are symbolic of luck.
• Landscapes depicting sunrise, mountains or water signify hope.
• Cascading water symbolises good luck.
• Portraits of people with serene and smiling faces encourage positive feelings.
• Paintings that are have dark or vivid colouring induce poor health.
• Paintings based on geometric shapes increase destructive feelings.
• Paintings that use the colour red excessively create a feeling of irritability.
• Paintings depicting wild and vicious animals induce poor health.
The Bedroom
The bedroom, a very important room, is primarily associated with relaxation and comfort. A
person needs to be sufficiently rested to perform well during the day.
If the main door of a flat is directly opposite the bedroom door, the occupant of that room
will face legal problems. Position a small decoration or a piece of furniture to interrupt the
line of passage.
Bunk Beds :
One's head should not touch the ceiling or this could result in ill health. The top of the
mattress should also be atleast 16 inches off the ground.
Clocks :
It is not propitious to keep a clock immediately behind or directly in front of a sleeper. Clocks
should be placed on either side of the bed.
Light Bulbs :
A light bulb directly above the head of the bed will turn the sleeper in to a nervous wreck. If
hung above the centre of the bed, it will cause stomach disorders. The light should be placed
to the side of the bed.
Dressing Table :
The dressing table should not be placed at the foot of a bed as it adversely affects health.
Move the dressing table to any other position.
Bed Headboards :
You can draw on the strengths of the elements by choosing a headboard that corresponds to
your element.
Round Shaped Headboards :
A round-shaped headboard belongs to the metal element. It is a good shape to choose, if you
work in an office or are involved in paperwork.
Square or Rectangular Shaped Headboard :
Square or rectangular shaped headboards are for people who represent wood and earth
elements. It is also good for professionals, as it encourages stability and offers support.
Oval or Wave-Shaped Headboard :
Oval or wavy-shaped headboards are ideal for people who belong to the element water and
also for artists, musicians and designers.
Angular Headboards :
These are not recommended for anyone. It relates to the element fire. It prevents people from
getting a good night's sleep.
The Study
Desks are associated with career, and need to be well set up to take advantage of the position.
Desk positions :
One should sit with the back to a wall and the desk in a corner.
One should avoid facing the door while seated as this adversely affects breathing and
concentration.
Sitting too close to a door with one's back to the door affects performance adversely.
Other Pointers about Desks :
• Supporting beams above desks create pressure and tiredness.
• A light directly above one's head affects concentration.
• A desk should not obstruct a doorway.
• One should not sit too close to a window.
• Clocks should not be placed in front of writing desks.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is associated with health and affects the general well-being of the family. The
strategic positioning of the kitchen and the cooking appliances induce the free flow of
energies.
The Best Position for the Kitchen :
The best position for the kitchen is in the north, east and southeast corners of the house.
The Fridge
The Fridge :
• The fridge door should point away from the kitchen door. The fridge is Yin and
clashes with the Yang that is brought in by the people walking in.
• The fridge door should not be opposite the cooking range door, as the cold from the
fridge and fire from the cooking range do not mix.
The Sink
• The best position for the sink is in the east, since that is also the direction of water.
The next best is southwest.
• If you are unable to change the position of a badly placed sink, make sure you keep
the area around the sink dry when not in use.
• Always fix leaky taps promptly and avoid leaving dishes soaking in the sink.
• If you leave glasses around the sink to wash them
them later, first drain them of the water in
them.
Feng Shui is much more than good arrangements or the proper placing of objects within a
structure. Are you aware that the areas we use day in and day out - our main door, the landing
outside it, the steps leading out - all give signals to our subconscious mind?
These signals can be positive or negative. Should you receive negative signals every day or
several times a day, be rest assured that
that you and peace of mind, prosperity, health would
remain strangers for all times to come.
How does one ensure that one receives only subliminal signals, which can better one's health,
wealth and peace of mind? To take a simple example, what would it do to your mind if the
road you were driving on, were bereft of any signs guiding your journey?
Similarly, the entry and exit paths to our house should have positive subliminal `markers'
which not only create a happy state of mind whenever we enter or leave our abode but also
protect us from any potential harm.
Many builders are in the habit of making steps and landings of white concrete with no
`subliminal marker' distinguishing the elevations. No visual demarcation between the landing
and steps, steps and patio,, shakes one out of one's peaceful state of mind.
Also, ascending or descending such monotonous routes causes a great deal of stress since one
has to concentrate on differentiating the elevation changes oneself to avoid tripping and
falling.
Such undifferentiated landings and steps in front of a house, which blend into each other, also
give the subconscious mind the message that reaching the front door is a Herculean task. The
unhappy result would be that such occupants would be bereft of opportunities.
The correct `subliminal marker' in such a case would be a clear transition to mark each
separate elevation. Alternating colours, textures, and materials cry out aloud : `This is the
landing, you are safe here as you can clearly see where it ends and the steps begin.'
While descending the stairs, a clear demarcation between the steps and the next landing states
clearly : `You can't take a false step here. You are now stepping on the landing.' When one
finally exits the building, it's with the confidence to face the day.
Some other measures for improving landings, steps and patios are : Replacing concrete steps
with flagstone or brick, covering existing steps with brick pavers, staining wooden steps,
placing large pots of flowers/plants on either side of the top and bottom step.
The happy outcome for the occupants of houses with well-defined walkways, landings, and
steps will be that opportunities will visit them frequently - guided as they are by the
`subliminal markers'.
We normally think of a house as a structure merely of bricks and cement and set a price on it
based on its physical strength. But the economic value of a house can also be governed by the
presence or absence of the life-giving force of Chi.
What the Hindus call prana, the Chinese call Chi. Where Chi is abundant, prosperity and
happiness result and vice-versa. The life-force energy of Chi is carried by currents of Feng
(wind) and Shui (water).
While Chi is beneficial, Sha does the exact opposite to one's life. Sha means negative Chi and
carries with it harmful energies. Sha oozes through cracks, holes and broken windows in
homes and is prevalent in corners and sharp angles.
It also occurs in places packed with human beings, animals, or things like lifts, trains... and
rooms. Bad odours, bright lights and loud disturbing sounds intensify Sha. So it's clear that if
one wants the value of one's house to increase, the flow of Chi in it should be bettered and
Sha eliminated.
The main thing to ensure is that the design and appearance of one's property is in harmony
with the surroundings. The property should be maintained in such a way that a sense of order
and beauty in relation to the environment is affected.
The house should be designed such that good relations with neighbours result. Such good
relations boost the positive energy of the area. Electricity wires and pollution very close to
one's property give off a lot of Sha and can not only adversely affect the value of one's
property but also one's health.
The entrance to the house can be made a rich source of Chi. Opportunities enter the home
through the front door, hence it should be made to look inviting. The front doors and even its
surrounding areas should be neat and clean and kept in good condition so as to exude Chi.
The look and feel of the
he insides of the house directly results in Chi or Sha, depending on the
atmosphere created inside. Light and airy homes give off Chi whereas a dark, damp and
heavy atmosphere means that the house is overflowing with Sha. Surely no one would pay a
good price
ce for the house if such were the case.
Windows are important inlets for Chi. Hence, they should be large, preferably wall-to-wall.
wall
The current trend of providing such windows in city apartments bodes well for the Chi level
in the house. Light, warmth and breeze should enter the home lighting up all dark corners and
banishing Sha.
An unkempt home cluttered with all sorts of unnecessary items is a breeding ground for Sha
energy. Removing such unwanted objects not only gives one more space to move around
increasing
easing the Chi level of energy but also obviously drains out all the Sha energy.
Symmetry is an important principle of Feng Shui. The shapes of wall within and without a
house should be in perfect alignment. A house, or rooms, with many angles reflect
brokenness and this quality can lend itself to the lives of the inhabitants of such houses.
One very important danger to watch out for within a house is heavy overhead beams. The
beam carries within it the weight of Sha energy. Such harmful energy can give migraines to
those sleeping under it.
If one keeps the above tips in mind, peace shall surely exude from one's house creating a
favourable impression on the minds of the prospective buyers and prompting
prompti them to pay a
good price for one' home.
Buying a house
If you are planning to buy a new home, there are a few Feng Shui principles you need to keep
in mind when you make your choice. You may have to make a few compromises, but you
will be aware of the reasons for those compromises. You will know what steps you must take
to counteract the negative energies. You may have to take the help of Feng Shui experts in
this regard.
The ancient Chinese held the view that mountains influence people and water dictates
dicta the
flow of money. The site chosen for a new home should always be near these two features.
Keep in mind these helpful tips when looking for a new home.
Ideal Directions
• Find out your propitious directions based on the principles of Feng Shui.
Mountains
• Look for a house with a large mountain or a building behind it rather than an open
space. Any mountain shape other than one that has a jagged outline is good.
Rivers
• Rivers or water bodies should ideally be to the east of the house, or failing that in the
southwest until the year 2004. From 2004 to 2023 it should ideally be in the
southwest, or failing that, in the East.
Roads
• Houses are in the best position on straight or gently curved roads, away from sharp
bends or junctions. The movement of traffic on the road should be in little waves and
of a non-polluting
polluting nature. This indicates a generation of wealth.
Shapes of Houses
• Look for a house with a shape relating to the element whose characteristics match
your personality. The square and rectangular shapes of earth and wood offer the best
security and stability. To get a better idea on the shape that suits your personality and
element, please refer to our section on elements.
e
Water Pipes
• Large underground water pipes, other than ordinary domestic pipes, running in a
back-to-front
front direction represent a drain of finances. Such houses should be avoided.
Tunnels
• Houses above underground tunnels are best avoided, as the vibrations coming from
below represent an undermining of your labour.
Though the Yin and Yang Theory explain to us the foundation of Feng Shui mechanisms, the

Chinese philosophers believe five things determine a good life : fate, luck, accumulated good
deeds, education, and Feng Shui. We may not be able to control external circumstances,
circums but
we can control our immediate environment by reaching out to opportunity and fortune. If
your heart doesn't lift when you return home each night, you need Feng Shui. If you don't
leave home in the morning refreshed, comforted, and confirmed in your your innate worth, you
need Feng Shui. That’s the gist of this science. Wherever you live, an efficiency apartment or
a mansion on the hill, your home should be a sanctuary for repairing hurts and celebrating
joys.
In Feng Shui, everything in the universe is linked by Chi, a universal energy, which, when
flowing smoothly, that is, neither too fast nor too slow, conducts vital forces to work on our

1 is considered both lucky and unlucky. As the first of all numbers, it is associated with the
energies of birth and other beginnings, but its ideogram looks like a bar across a door, which
is inauspicious in Feng Shui.
4 is considered very unlucky because it sounds like the Chinese word for "death" and is
therefore associated with loss, death, and misfortune.
5 is lucky because it is the number of the Chinese elements : fire, water, earth, wood, and
metal.
8 and 88 are both very auspicious numbers. 8 is associated with prosperity and creativity and
resembles the infinity symbol. There are also eight immortals and eight triangles
t of the I-
Ching or Book of Changes, an ancient Chinese system of divination. Eighty-eight
Eighty resembles
the Chinese pictograph for "double happiness."
Looking down the commercial streets, we can categorise businesses into two classes : trading
points (shops) and corporate space (offices). In trading businesses, the concern is aimed more
at attracting
ing and having more customers come through the door. In the office world, while we
definitely want an attractive office, the concern is more with the productivity of both
employers and employees.
For a shop especially there are many considerations, in view of daily direct transactions. The
front door needs to be in `prosperous' positioning. Pantry and lavatory
lavatory facilities need to be in
the right energy field. Most importantly, the building itself needs to be an `optimal' one for
making and keeping money as well as the perfect one for attracting people.
In the commercial office, the environment scores over positioning - one that helps people be
more happy and productive in their work. The `facing' of the desks, wall colours, lighting,
departmental positioning need to be sorted out with the correct Feng Shui, taking into
consideration the nature of business.
Feng Shui enables you to calculate the energies of the building and recommend remedies for
the problems that might exist - both before and after you are in a building or space.
Your office is your resource base. The energy patterns surrounding it have an important
influence on your entire life and your financial well-being. Many offices are being built close
to a street. Streets are major conduits and the adverse nergies as a result must be taken into
consideration. A Feng Shui Auditor is able to determine what remedies are necessary to
redirect those negative energies.
The balance of both interior and exterior spaces is one of the keys to a positive cash
environment. The placement of landscaping and other exterior features is one way how this
balance is achieved.
Feng Shui audits are performed for any type of building and should be scheduled preferably
prior to beginning the works. Here is a brief problem and solution memorandum about office
arrangements. Try to work it out, till we meet next and talk about enhancing the environment
and 'feel' of the office, at length.
You cannot see the room's entrance door by merely looking up from your computer
screen.
- Move your PC sideways so that you can view the door in a right angle. If you still can't,
mount a convex mirror onto the side of your computer, as to view the doorway.
- Redirect the air currents off yourself. If you can't, mount a panel or a pennant below the
duct, to direct it away from your body.
The room contains a tall piece of furniture within your line of vision.
- Move it. High objects looming over you can have an undesirable effect on you. They
deplete your confidence and feeling of well-being. Less furniture and fixtures encourage free
roaming of Chi.
A desk lamp is positioned on the side of your dominant hand while you face the
computer.
- A light on the same side as your dominant hand, casts a shadow over your assignments.
Thus your ability to concentrate comes under strain. Over time, even a small annoyance can
sap your enthusiasm.
- If you have no windows, or you work at night, hang a scenic picture of natural exteriors
within easy view or put a potted plant in the vicinity. As your eye appreciates it occasionally,
your soul shall appreciate the work.
- Move it or hang a plant or a dividing screen, in between. If that can't be done, keep the door
closed and dangle a Chinese bell over it.
You don't have kinetic or energetic (continuously mobile) objects in your office.
- Keep the windows open so as to let the air circulate causing some motion. If you can't do
this, keep a fan and some plants or curtains with tassels. Such movement keeps you feeling
energetic.
Businesses using Feng Shui can create low stress, high productivity environments for their
employees while conveying an atmosphere of quiet elegance for their customers.
The Chinese science of Feng Shui places so much stress on the arrangement and surroundings
of a child's study area. You could also make use of Feng Shui techniques to enhance your
child's concentration and development.
To begin with, the position of the study desk is very important. Make sure your child does not
sit with her back too the door. If she has to, and you have no other way of arranging the room,
then place a mirror in front of her so that she can see the door. As for the chair, ensure that
nothing sharp or piercing -- even in terms of graphics -- is directed towards it as it will create
more bad energy. Even a poster with arrows or airplanes with weapons pointing towards the
room can create negative energy.
The study table surroundings also need a lot of attention. Have your child sit facing the best
study direction and with
ith solid support behind or a painting of a mountain to give support.
Place a crystal sphere in the main window to activate Chi. Try not to have your child sit in
front of a window - it will harm her concentration. Observe her study area and desk -- are
there
ere any exposed overhead beams or edges, or sharp edges of furniture, pillar or protruding
corner nearby? Be careful for these bring bad energy. Keep the desk area clear of clutter and
place a laughing Buddha on the desk, if possible.
The child's bedroom iss going to be a hard one to handle. Try and keep rooms tidy and clutter-
clutter
free. You will be amazed how much of a difference this can make. There are also some
prescribed charms that can be used for your children. Placing a lead crystal sphere in your
child's room can be very beneficial. This article is quite brittle and costly, so you could
substitute it with a solid crystal ball.
The laughing Buddha is a symbol of wealth and happiness; place one in your child's room --
just looking at his jolly face will cheer
cheer your child. A Feng Shui myth has it that stroking the
laughing Buddha's belly daily can bring good luck.
Hematite is an energetic stone, specially recommended for children. Hematite can help solve
children's health-related
related problems, especially blood and abdominal ailments. It would also
help them get good sleep. Hematite wards off bad moods and depressing thoughts. It is
beneficial to the circulatory system, increases resistance to stress, stimulates spleen, restores
vitality and calms excessive energy. This one is especially recommended for teenagers.
There, now you have enough ways to help your child concentrate better, study harder and
make you a proud parent. Start following these Feng Shui principles and wait for us to come
back to talk on how this art
rt of living helps you beat the blues.
In Feng Shui, the main door has been accorded prime importance as it lets in or keeps out the
vital life-giving force that promotes health, wealth and luck.
The best position for the main door is in the middle of the house. However, if your house
faces the correct direction, it becomes irrelevant if the front door is positioned in the middle
of the house or to one side.
If the door is not in the desired position, create as much space as possible in front of it and
keep the area uncluttered. You could also paint the door in the colour that relates to the
direction the door is facing.
There is a direct relationship between houses and the roads that connect them. It has a
significant effect on the well-being
being and the fortunes of the occupants of those houses. This is
caused by Ch'i the all-encompassing
encompassing life-giving
life force that permeates the universe. If allowed
to flow freely, the Ch'i energy is positive. If allowed to stagnate, this energy becomes
negative. It becomes very harmful when channelled too quickly along straight paths.

3. The principal and upper executives' offices should be located in the command areas of the
office, while giving employees and clients accessibility. Everyone will benefit because the
entire office will feel as if it is one body, the sum of all the functions harmoniously working
toward the main objective.
4. Bathroom doors should be kept shut, with toilet seats down, to prevent Chi, opportunity,
wealth, and happiness from being flushed.

included in your design for energetic/emotional and decorative balance.
9. Where natural light is not readily available, especially in corridors and entry vestibules,
make sure they are well illuminated.
10. Always use your intuition before making changes, consider first how it effects the rest of
your decor. Do not just use traditional rules such as painting your front door red, it would
cause disharmony if your home was peach or rose.
11. Remember your Chi, it is your inner-personal development, desire and love of life that
will help maximize positive results.
Feng Shui
Introduction
Uses of Fengshui
Introduction Back
Feng shui uses the five elements of Chinese traditional system. They
are FIRE, EARTH, METAL, WATER and WOOD. This is the
cyclic procedure of feng shui. In the cycle of production each
element helps and nurtures the element on either side of it.
For instance wood burns, creating fire. Fire gives ash, which create
Earth.
From the Earth we get Metal. Metal liquefies water and Water
nurtures and produces wood.
By using the principles of feng shui, we will get harmony with the
world. We can make adjustments to different parts of our home to
bring more Success, Happiness, and Prosperity into our lives.
This is the room that where the people can relax and enjoy spending
more time with the other people.
This room should reflect the personalities and ideas of the people.
this room have to receive more and more sunlight and wind flow.
Avoid crowding, too much furniture and more and more shelves in
this room. The open shelves and little space leads to abundance and
controls the monetary gains.
Good feng shui in the bed room is very important for peaceful mind
with Happy life. After the living room, we spends our lives in bed
room. This room will be private and personal, should be as far away
from the front door. The placement of the bed is the important point
in the concept of feng shui. So your bed should be placed near the
corner of the room that is diagonally cross from the door. The bed
should always in a position to where the people sleeping in will get a
pleasant view, when they wake up in the morning.
The Kitchen, the stove which deals with the fire that represents
family's wealth. So Keep the stove far away to the sink.
Kitchen should not be visible from the front door and the Kitchen
that faces the toilet causes bad health and loss of prosperity luck.
The toilet should not be visible from the front door. The bathrooms
should be posited on the side of the house, because bathrooms create
negative ch'i, and a centrally situated toilet will send this negative
ch'i to every part of the house.
Sometimes simple cures if placed accurately will enhance the area instantly and bring good
fortune to the residence.
One area where Fengshui scores over vaastu is in using cures to overcome vaastu defects.
Like the other Chinese subject Acupuncture, it is impossible to rationally explain how the cure
works.
But it should be said to the credit of these cures that they indeed work.
Er. R. Prasad has tried these cures on scores of apartments, Industries and residential
buildings where implementation of conventional vaastu was not possible. The cures worked
successfully in majority of cases.
As they are safe and inexpensive Er. R. Prasad recommends these cures in all cases where
conventional vaastu corrections are out of question.

Reiki (pronounced 'Ray-Key'), a laying on hands healing technique thousands of years old, is the Usui
system for natural healing discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist, in the late 19th century.
Closely following the formula he found in the Indian Sanskrit 'Sutras', he received the healing powers of
Reiki and the power of transferring this power to others.
Reiki can be defined as a Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki, is not only the most simple and
natural healing method we know of, but it is also the most effective way of transferring this life Force
Energy. Once a person has been opened up to become a 'Channel' for Reiki, concentrated Life Energy
will flow through his hands of its own accord and he will retain this ability for the rest of his life. Life
force plays an important role in every thing we do. It animates the body and is also the primary energy of
our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life.
5.Just For Today I will Show Love And Respect For Every Living Thing
Reiki energy will act in a different, often more powerful way, when using this technique Reiki energy will
travel easily through the aura, to other parts of the energy field, often flowing through and surrounding
several areas including Vaastu at once, filling them with warm, loving, nurturing energy before entering
the physical body at the places where it is needed. Crystals & Other things having positive Energy can
also be used for Improving the Vaastu Energy.
Reiki (ray-key) is a natural healing technique that uses the laying-on of hands. Reiki is thought to have
originated thousands of years ago in India from where it went to Tibet alongwith Buddism. But the
knowledge was kept a top secret by a few for various reasons. Reiki was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui,
a Japanese Buddist monk, in the 1800's. Usui wished to discover how Budda healed the sick. During his
ten year quest, he studied the teaching of Christ, and the sacred literature of China, Japan, India, and
Tibet. At the end of his quest, Reiki came to him on the sacred mountain of Kuriyama in Japan.
The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words - Rei and Ki. Rei means supernatural force or spiritual
intelligence, Ki means life energy. Therefore, reiki means "spiritually guided life force energy".
How does it work?
We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body though
pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura.
Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this
flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the
physical body.
The life force is responsive to thoughts and feelings. It becomes disrupted when we accept, either
consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves. These negative thoughts and
feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause a disruption in the flow of life force. This
diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body.
Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive
energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative
thoughts and feelings are attached. This dissolves and removes the negative energy. In so doing, Reiki
clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and
natural way.
Reiki is an energy that comes directly from the highest spiritual source. It has its own intelligence and
knows exactly where to go and what to do. It is multi-dimensional and will heal the cause of a problem on
what level it may exist - body, mind, or spirit. It does not have to be directed by the practitioner. It is a
very simple and powerful process that can be learned by anyone. Because it is a channeled healing, the
Reiki practitioners energies are never depleted. In fact, when giving a treatment, the Reiki practitioner is
healed as well and always experiences an increase in life force energy. People that already do healing
work report that their healing energies increase by at least fifty percent after receiving Reiki
Attunements.
Reiki is given by the laying on of hands. A standard treatment includes placing the hands on positions
around the head, shoulders, stomach, and feet. In addition, the practitioner may use other positions for
specific concerns the client may have. Each position is held for between five and ten minutes and the
entire treatment lasts between 45 minutes to an hour and a half. A treatment is deeply relaxing and
benefits both the client and the practitioner.
Treat yourself:
Once you have been attuned to it, reiki can also be used to treat yourself. Simply place your hands on
yourself, Reiki will flow into you and begin its healing work.
Reiki is both powerful and gentle and in its long history has aided in healing virtually every known illness
and injury including serious problems like cancer, heart disease, and AIDS as well as skin problems, cuts,
broken bones, headaches, colds, and the list goes on and on.............
Reiki is not taught in the way that other healing techniques are taught. It is transferred to the student by
the Reiki Master through an attunement process. Because of this, virtually anyone can learn Reiki with
no prior experience or ability necessary. The attunement process opens the heart, crown, and palm
chakras and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source. Then its use is explained and
demonstrated. After that, all that is necessary is for the practitioner to place his or her hands on the client
with the intention of healing and the Reiki energies will automatically flow through the practitioner into
the client. Because of this unique attunement process, Reiki can easily be taught during a weekend class.
Is it a Religion?
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a Religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must
believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work
whether you believe in it or not.
Many uses:
Reiki is very versatile and can be used to heal or improve any human condition or difficulty. In addition
to healing yourself and others, it can also be used to protect from harm, help solve problems, and achieve
goals.
There are numerous usage of Reiki, which one can only experiance by either going through a Reiki
healing session or by undergoing the attunement process. But some of them are listed below:
Addictions, Allergies, Anaemia, Arthritis, Backpain, Blood pressure, Breathing problems, Cancer,
Cholesterol, Diarrhoea, Dysentery, Fat, Headache, Heart problems, Stroke, Indigestion, Jaundice, Kidney

Besides the physical benefits Reiki helps the practitioner to practically live a joyful life.
Many different cultures have utilized the power of crystals for as long as humans have inhabited the
earth. The oldest legend leads us all the way back to Atlantis where this civilization used crystals as
beacons of light that would communicate telepathically to their universal forefathers. It is said that the
reason this evolved civilization was destroyed was the misuse of the awesome power crystals hold for
egocentric purposes. Survivors of Atlantis continued to perpetuate the knowledge of crystals in Egypt,
South America, and Tibet. They built pyramids using the crystalline theories. The perfect geometric
shape duplicates the laws of crystal physics and channels high frequency universal energy onto the planet.
It is believed that the Great Pyramid in Egypt was originally capped with a giant crystal to assist in the
grounding of this cosmic force.
It is written in Exodus in the Bible that a breastplate made of 12 precious jewels, combined specifically
together in four rows, worn over the heart would endow Aaron with the power of God. It is not known
what 12 stones were used in the construction, however, it is recorded as having incredible spiritual
powers.
Kings in ancient India were advised to collect the very best gems to protect themselves from harm. As
early as 400 B.C., astrologists made elaborate observations on the origins and power of stones. In fact,
they advised people struck with misfortunes to wear different crystals to counteract the negative effects of
the planets.
Gems and crystals have long been associated with royalty. They were laid in swords, embedded in
thrones, and worn in crowns. When the tomb of King Tut of Egypt was opened, the amount of gems and
crystals was astonishing.
Mayan and American Indians have used crystals for the diagnosis as well as the treatment of disease.
Mexican Indians believed that if you lived a good life, your soul went into a crystal when you died. If
someone was fortunate enough to find that crystal, it would speak directly to their heart, heal, guide, and
make their dreams come true.
The power and potential of crystals cannot be overstated. They can be used in meditation to develop the
intuition and learn from the higher senses. I must issue a warning that true intentions or humanitarianly
pure intentions must be used when working with crystals or some believe the power can be turned against
the user. The following is a list of a few of my favorite crystals to work with. From time to time I will add
or update this page as I have has time to experiment with certain crystals in my healing practice, so you
should check back periodically.
he geometric structure of pyramid attracts energy into it has been proved thousands of years ago. The
great pyramids of Egypt are the established proved factor of this theory. The mummies kept under them
have not perished is one of the qualities of pyramid structure.
To start any Reiki healing we always draw three dimentional pyramids(or triangles) over palms, heart,
healee and our body intending to increase the flow of positive energy and to safeguard ourselves from any
negative effect.
The use of pyramids in any healing is the same. That is to gather energy and that the structure does by
itself. Pollution, greed, ignorance is degrading our planet. Our bodies and mind have to deal with negative
energy every day. When you use the pyramids as they are designed, they will energize you with a high
level of energy channeled to you by your spiritual guides or guardian angels. When you use the
meditation exercises provided with your pyramid some will experience seeing different colors, see visions,
feel tingling, heat or coldness or both at the same time or all of the above. What you experience will be
determined by your spiritual evelovment. All will be different. Following the instructions is important.
They do not recommend that you stay longer than two hours under the pyramid (ANAND 1). You may
experience light headedness or dizziness or a little wobbly when you get up this will pass with no side
effects. The ANAND SUPER pyramid model should be used in a group or by a trained medium or a
spiritual healer. This produces a very high level of energy more than the ANAND 1 pyramid model. If
you decide to use the ANAND SUPER pyramid model individuality, you must not over do the time spent
under it. Twenty to thirty minutes should be more than enough, if you are experienced with meditation or
healing you can most likely handle more energy. Using pyramid with Reiki, will help to balance the
energy while working on the subject.
The smaller pyramids can be used for healing the chakras, by keeping them on the spine of the object for
aroud fifteen minutes, use of crystals and beaming Reiki from a distance gives manifold results.
The small pyramid grids have proven to give faster and better results in menifestations with Reiki
symbols.
As these pyramids enhance all kinds of energy, being in a positive frame of mind is important. If you are
negative, it will make you more negative and block the benefits you will receive.
An experiment you can try is take a picture of the pyramid sometimes you can capture the aura of the
pyramid or a spirit above or near the pyramid. Another experiment you can try. Take a bottle of wine
and empty one half of it and save, put the other half under the pyramid. You will notice how much the
flavor improved. Try this with coffee or food or other drinks. Some items may take longer than others to
change. Your pets and plants will love it.
"Kundalini'' literally means coiling, like a snake. In the classical literature of hatha yoga kundalini is
described as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine. The image of coiling, like a spring, conveys the sense
of untapped potential energy. Perhaps more meaningfully kundalini can be described as a great reservoir
of creative energy at the base of the spine. It's not useful to sit with our consciousness fixed in our head
and think of kundalini as a foreign force running up and down our spine. Unfortunately the serpent
image may serve to accentuate this alien nature of the image. It's more useful to think of kundalini energy
as the very foundation of our consciousness so when kundalini moves through the sushumna and through
our chakras our consciousness necessarily changes with it.
The concept of kundalini can also be examined from a strictly psychological perspective. From this
perspective kundalini can be thought of as a rich source of psychic or libidinous energy in our
unconscious.
In the classical literature of Kashmir Shaivism kundalini is described in three different manifestions. The
first of these is as the universal energy or para-kundalini. The second of these is as the energizing function
of the body-mind complex or prana-kundalini. The third of these is as consciousness or shakti-kundalini
which simultaneously subsumes and intermediates between these two. Ultimately these three forms are
the same but understanding these three different forms will help to understand the differerent
manifestations of kundalini.
What does kundalini have to do with spiritual enlightenment? What is the goal of
kundalini yoga?
First we need a few concepts: In yogic anatomy the sushumna is the central channel and conduit for the
kundalini energy that runs along our spine and up to the crown of our head. Along this channel are
placed additional channel networks called chakras. These chakras are associated with major aspects of
our anatomy - for example our throat, heart, solar plexus, and in turn these aspects of our anatomy are
related to aspects of our human nature. According to the literature of kundalini yoga our experience of
these centers is limited due to knots which restrict the flow of energy into these centers. Three knots are
particuarly important. The knot of Brahma which restricts the center at the base of the spine. The knot of
Vishnu which restricts the heart center and the knot of Rudra which restricts the center between the
eyebrows. These knots form an important framework in yogic thinking and the stages toward
enlightenment are articulated in terms of breaking through these knots in the yogic classic the Hatha
Yoga Pradipika as well as in some of the yoga upanishads. Specifically, four stages of progress are
described:
Arambha,
Ghata,
Parichaya and
Nishpatti.
Arambha is associated with breaking the knot of Brahma and the awakening of kundalini. Ghata is
associated with breaking the knot of Vishnu and and with internal absorption. Parichaya the absorption
deepens and in Nishpatti the knot of Rudra is pierced and the kundalini may ascend to the center at the
crown of the head. In this state transcendence is integrated and, according to the yogic liteature, the yogi
has nothing more to attain.
Putting these elaborate physiological decriptions aside, the goal of kundalini yoga is the same as the goal
of any legimitate spiritual practice: To be liberated from the limited bounds of the self-centered and
alienated ego. In kundalini yoga this is associated with internal manifestations of the kundalini but the
external manifestations should be similar to any other legitiimate spiritual practice.
The Chakras are basically subtle energy centers in the human body, can be sensed logically. Their
positions are being stated in Spinal Cord in the microform. They rotate in the formation of clockwise &
anti-clockwise resulting to create invisible energy by which the organs of our body work. This invisible
energy makes an outer circumference of our body (known a Aura) and protects us from negativities &
diseases. It is as per the ancient Indian Sanskrit sutras (Spiritual books).
They are being known in traditional Asian Alternative Medicines for thousand of years (i.e. Reiki,
Ayurveda, Acupuncture, Acupressure etc.). They are used for diagnosis as well as for treating disorders
on the physical, emotional & mental levels.
Another reason may be that you are fairly new to First degree Reiki. Your perceptive faculties may not
have had a chance to develop sufficiently to perceive Reiki, but if you work with it regularly, this will
change Just take your time and practice the sensitizing techniques.
Finally, the reason might be that the energy isn't flowing at all. As you know, Reiki is drawn or "sucked
in" by the recipient. If he has some unconscious block or simply does not require any energy, there may
be no flow, which is perhaps why you don't sense anything. If there is a local blockage, you can treat this
area of the body via the reflex zones. The further away are the blocked zones from the area, the better.
No, this is not possible. Through the four initiations you become a Reiki channel and stay connected with
this divine energy for the rest of your life. Even if you don't use Reiki for twenty years (which actually is
impossible as Reiki flows automatically the moment you place your hands on something requiring it), it is
as freely available as after your initiation. It may well be that you simply are not able to perceive the
energy at the moment for some reason.
Something always happens when Reiki flows into a living being, but perhaps something quite different to
what you had expected. Reiki always acts in its own way and you can only influence this within narrow
boundaries. The following example illustrates this point; perhaps you want to help someone stop smoking,
and although you give him Reiki, nothing happens. However, your client suddenly starts to enjoy exercise
and play tennis a few weeks later. Perhaps this was more important, and perhaps stopping smoking was
not as urgent as both of you thought.
If you treat an acute physical disorder with Reiki and there are no evident results, a trained medical
specialist should be consulted without delay. It is possible that there is not enough Reiki to change things
for the better, or that there is some organic disorder requiring surgical or other treatment. When pus is
involved or severe, constant pain, the client should be referred to a physician or a practitioner of natural
therapeutics without any further experimentation. Reiki does not make emergency measures superfluous.
There is no simple answer to this question. There are so many methods of faith healing, from the "Faith
Surgeons" in Brazil to healing with "the Energy of Christ" and so on. All of these can be called faith
healing as they work with subtle energies that somehow address the whole person in the healing process.
This is also what Reiki does, but basically its use as a means of healing physical disorders is only a small
facet of its many possibilities. Every person is able to use Reiki to live more consciously, become more
perceptive and alive or simply to sense God's presence. Reiki is not simply-as other methods of faith
healing-a way of bringing health to the ill but also and to a much greater extent a means for people
without complaints to develop their vitality and capacity to love in a simple and lasting manner.
Perhaps the question can be answered in this way; faith healing is just one of the many possibilities of
Reiki.
"My wife/ daughter/ mother/ aunt would so much benefit from Reiki, but whenever I ask her she does not
want to be treated or be initiated. Should I let myself be initiated into the second degree so that I can treat her
via distance healing? She couldn't do anything about that, could she?
Reiki should not be forced onto any living being against its declared will. After all every person is entitled
to his or her own way of life. Second-degree reiki is not meant to be used contrary to the wishes or
intentions of another. By declared will I don't mean that the person concerned owes you an explanation,
rather what I'm referring to is any clear expression of refusal, even in the form of an unmistakable
gesture (as with animals).
This point is especially important for those initiated into the second degree reiki because they are able to
transmit reiki energy anywhere they like without having direct contact with the recipient. If you are not
able to determine whether the potential recipient is in agreement with treatment (due to coma,
unconciousness, mental imbalance, no possibility of contact or similar), you should consult an oracle or
decide on a distance treatment according to your intuition and in a responsible manner.
Firstly, every person just needs one initiation for each Reiki Degree for his whole life, so relatively
speaking, the expense is minimal. If you consider the cost-benefit ratio, you will probably come to the
conclusion that the initiations should actually be more expensive.
Secondly, since each person is only initiated into each Reiki Degree once, and since Reiki masters also
have to make their living and recover costs, obviously Reiki cannot be had at a bargain price.
Thirdly, a Reiki initiation is a wonderful thing, but people are able to also live quite happily without it. In
other words, people are not withheld something that they absolutely need by the price. If you need Reiki
for your personal development, you will be able to afford it.
Fourthly, the course fees are ultimately regulated by the market, as are all other prices for goods and
services. There is no such thing as a "just price". A price is justified whenever a sufficient number of
customers accept it, and a sufficient number of suppliers deliver.
Lastly, Reiki represents a certain value, and people tend to make respectful attitude to things that cost a
lot of money. Since Reiki becomes as much a part of a person as his inborn talents, it is important to
regard Reiki as valuable from the onset. After all, we are very reluctant to accept the parts of our
personality that we see as being of no great value. Only in extremely rare cases do I give a discount on my
Reiki course fees. Hawayo Takata, the Grand Master before last, gave the subject short shrift-"Don't
bargain with Reiki!". That's exactly the way I feel about it too. There's something not quite about
bargaining with Reiki.
No, of course not. Basically, every human has the capacity to transmit life energy through his hands, some
a little more than others. However, Reiki initiations guarantee that it is not your life energy that being
transmitted, but Universal Life Energy. It is rather that Universal Life Energy is being channelled. It is
because of this that Reiki does not cause fatigue and that no specific exercises are need to be performed to
gain the energy in the first place. Moreover, Reiki initiations help set up mechanism that protect you and
the patient from negative vibrations. Furthermore, each initiation multiplies the capacity for transmitting
energy many times.
No, Reiki is automatically transmitted if it is needed and is accepted by the subconscious. Reiki is not a
psychological phenomenon like hypnosis or suggestion. The effects of Reiki cannot be explained by the
placebo effect or other suggestive effects. The energy flows, even if the Reiki channel does not believe in
any anything in particular. It all takes place automatically without any prerequisites.
"Magic is the art of bringing about changes of consciousness at will". According to this definition Reiki
cannot be magic, because processes that result in a higher degree of awareness proceed on their own,
according to their own dynamic laws and therefore cannot be influenced by will. It is the flow of energy
that sets them in motion.
Common parlance defines magic as "the art of using natural forces and means to achieve amazing
results". According to this definition, Reiki is indeed magic. If the question "Is Reiki Magic?" has
anything to do with black magic, the answer is "NO". The essence of Reiki is unlimited love. So-called
black magic is ultimately based on power of hatred and fear.
"What actually happens at the initiations that take place at Reiki seminars?"
At the initiations the Reiki Master acts as a channel and mediator of Universal Life Energy. If you think
this sounds a bit far-fetched, all I can say is that there is no other way of putting it. This contact with the
divine force is so profound that it reaches you in your innermost core. It is at this level that you are freed
of ideas of guilt-a necessary step in becoming a channel of Universal Life Energy. This is why the
traditional initiations steps bring about such an increase in one's capacity for love and consciousness. The
rituals performed as part of each initiation is like a key agreed on with God for unlocking the power of
healing love.
No, you can't. Reiki is love and love does not harm anyone. But if you fall prey of the delusion of power of
being able to heal everything and everyone with "your" Reiki energy, and do not fetch or carry out the
necessary medical or therapeutic help in situations requiring it, your wish to exercise power will indeed
cause harm. Reiki does not relieve you of the responsibility toward yourself and those who entrust
themselves to you.
"Does Reiki only flow if I first pray and then smooth out the aura?"
Reiki always flows wherever it is needed and wherever it is accepted. There are no any preconditions.
Reiki is a gift. There are no strings attached.
No, it isn't. Reiki can do a lot but it can't do everything and it does not make conventional or
naturopathic therapies and diagnosis superfluous either, but simply provides them with appropriate
support. Symptoms of serious disease or anything similar should be treated by trained medical specialists.
In the hands of layman, Reiki should mainly be used as prophylactic measure or as a means of treating
trivial complaints. However, Reiki can be of great help as a supporting measure for treatment of all
kinds.
Reiki does not impair you individual freedom of choice. If you consciously or subconsciously want
someone else to take care of you, you will close yourself off to your "own" Reiki. In this case you are not
interested in having the problem solved, but in satisfying your desire for closeness. This is perfectly
legitimate and you should accept it is indeed the case. Reiki cannot and should not replace human
closeness.
No, it does not. The initiations greatly enhance the capacity of each person to pass on life energy and lifts
them to a level where certain effects become possible. This is the basic opening up that takes place, and it
can never be reduced. If you give a lot of Reiki, your capacity to channel this energy will also be
increased. This too will become part of you and cannot be withdrawn or limited.
Through the initiations into the second and Third Degree, the opening for the Universal Life Energy is
developed further each time. The flow of energy can be further enhanced with the Second Degree
symbols.
"Recently, I have been feeling tired whenever I give a lot of Reiki. What's the cause?"
Whenever you pass on Reiki to another, you also get your own share of the energy. Cleansing processes
are instigated in your own body the moment you lay your hands on another person. The healing reaction
then consumes the body's energies while it is acting. Give yourself plenty of Reiki to help your organism
and give yourself time and leisure to grow. The more you work with Reiki, the less "energy-sapping"
reactions will occur. Your energy channels will become more and more open and efficient (also see the
question above).
No, it can't. The Reiki initiations are carried out by God. And Reiki Masters themselves are just a
channel through which this power is able to pass. Man and God stand in constant contact during the
initiation. External factors and phenomena of whatever kind cannot influence God. Reiki initiations
cannot be made ineffective through some presumed guilt or lapse or other "moral" reasons, either.
"I feel Reiki does me a lot of good, but I simply don't take the time to treat myself. Why am I like this?"
What kind of relationship do you have to yourself? Is it loving? Do you allow yourself some of the good
things in life? This is often not the case in this kind of situation. What might be helpful are affirmations
such as "I allow time for myself because I love myself!" or "I love myself and enjoy doing myself some
good". Working with the rose quartz is also helpful. Take some time and sit down and begin to think
about why you don't take the time to treat yourself. Look for the real reasons, and ignore the famous
excuse "I simply don't have the time". This is often the first step to solving the problem. If that does not
help, then give into your feelings and take care of others until you're utterly fed up with it and just want
time to yourself. I have found that this has always done the trick. Anyone with the "Good Samaritan
syndrome" will have to face up to this question sooner or later, or just burn up.
There's also another possibility. You might simply be overwhelmed by the speed of your own growth, or
by the possibilities that open up to you. Since Reiki is something that stimulates growth, you are trying to
avoid it. Take a rest for a while. If you like, look into your fear of development. Your desire to give Reiki
will return with time. Both rest and exercise have their purpose, one cannot exist without the other.
"I'm afraid of interfering with my karma or that of other people with Reiki. Is this possible?"
The essence of Reiki is love and you cannot do anything wrong with that. If some karmic burden is to be
released through Reiki, that's great stuff. It is impossible to create new burdens of this kind with Reiki,
unless the person applying it wants to live out his need for power. One should make clear distinction
between the two. If I try to treat someone against his will I am creating karma, but not for the other
person, only for myself. The power of Reiki makes sure of this.
"Why do I need all these methods with precious stones and scents and meditations? Doesn't Reiki work just
as well on it's own?"
Of course it does, but in order to achieve anything it first has to be applied and then it has to be accepted
and let in. Since some people prefer to be treated with Reiki when it is packaged in a nice way and since
our subconscious often wants to be made a fuss of and stimulated before it is ready to let in Reiki, the
methods described by any master can make a considerable indirect contribution to the effectiveness of
Reiki. I am not a purist and therefore I choose my methods according to effectiveness. This does not
necessarily have to apply to you, however. Do whatever you like as long you enjoy doing it and it doesn't
deprive others of their possibilities or development.
What is Pranic Healing?
Pranic Healing is an ancient form of healing which uses Prana or the life-force to heal the body. Pranic healing
was practiced during the earliest civilizations of China, Egypt and India.
What is Prana?
Prana in Sanskrit means, "life-force". This vital energy helps the body to maintain good health. Prana is
known as 'Pneuma' in Greek, 'Mana' in Polynesian, 'Ki' in Japanese, 'Chi' in Chinese, 'Rua' in Hebrew.
Prana is in abundance, all around us. This life-force energy is drawn from the sun, air and ground to heal
physical ailments and emotional imbalances.
Sources of Prana
Sun: - The Prana absorbed from the sun is called solar Prana. This energy can be acquired by taking sunbaths
and drinking water exposed to the sun.
Air: - The Prana absorbed from air is called ozone Prana. This energy can be acquired through deep slow
rhythmic breathing and through the chakras.
Earth: - The Prana from the Earth is called ground Prana. This energy is absorbed from the ground through
the soles of the feet.
Divine Prana: - This Prana is absorbed into the body through deep meditation and fervent prayer. We receive
this energy from the divine.
Master Choa Kok Sui rediscovered Pranic healing system from the teachings of his master, Bodhisattva
Padmasambhava.
Master Choa is of Chinese descent, living in Philippines. Apart from being a spiritual teacher, he is also a
chemical engineer and a successful business entrepreneur. He has also written many best selling books on
'healing'. He is the founder of the 'Arhatic Yoga Ashram' near Pune in India.
Master Choa has taught the technique of Pranic healing to many, so that they could heal themselves as well as
others.
The essence of Pranic healing deals with the transfer of fresh rejuvenating Prana to the patient through a set of
techniques, that does not require physical contact (touch) or the use of drugs and gadgets. Essentially, the
healer works on the energy field of the patient. It is based on the principle that the body has the ability to heal
itself.
Pranic healing is applied on the 'aura' or the energy field that surrounds the physical body. The aura, called the
bioplasmic body, extends to about 4-5 inches from the surface of the skin. Called 'Pranamaya Kosha' in
Sanskrit, aura is an invisible luminous energy field that interpenetrates the physical body.
Prana is absorbed and distributed throughout the physical body only through the energy body. This Pranic
energy can be projected from one person to another. The Chakras help to distribute this energy throughout the
physical body.
The energy that makes a person sick is called diseased energy or negative energy. This energy initially shows
up on the energy body or aura. Research shows that diseased energies appear first in the energy body before
appearing as an ailment in the physical body. Use of Pranic energy on the diseased part of the body helps in
the acceleration of the healing process. Significantly, it helps the body heal without medication.
Pranic healing helps rectify the imbalances in the body & energy field and transmit Prana to the patient.
A. Scanning
B. Cleansing
C. Energizing
A. Scanning:-Pranic healers scan the energy field of the patient to detect the disturbances in the energy body.
Hands are used to initiate the process of healing. Located in the palm of the hands are energy centers called
chakras. These chakras when activated become sensitive to feeling the energy of other beings. Thus it is
possible to scan the energy field and locate blockages. These areas can be cleansed, energized and replenished
with the fresh supply of Prana. Diseases manifest when there is depletion or congestion of Prana in the
chakras.
B. Cleansing:- This is done by the hands. This involves removing the diseased energy from the aura of a
being.
C. Energizing: - Infusing vitalized energy or Prana into the body through the chakras is called energizing.
When the aura is energized by Prana, it helps in healing the ailments at the physical, mental and spiritual
levels.
Thus, Pranic healing helps in healing oneself and others through the use of Prana.
Physical Diseases Healed by Pranic Healing: Arthritis, Asthma, respiratory disorders, eye defects,
hypertension, hepatitis, ovarian cyst, epilepsy etc.
Psychological diseases cured by Pranic Healing: Anxiety, depression, tension, compulsive behavior
patterns, phobias, trauma, grief etc.
• Correct deep breathing technique helps in the copious flow of Prana through the entire aura and all the
chakras. People who practice this form of breathing rhythmically absorb plenty of Prana. Correct
breathing establishes equilibrium between positive and negative currents in the body.
• Visualization:: After taking a deep breath, it is possible to increase the amount of Prana by visualizing
the vital force entering the body and penetrating every cell in the being. The positive energy attracts
more positive energy. Through this, it is possible to build on the Prana.
• Meditation:: Internal 'chi' power, life force or Prana can be developed through meditation. If this
power is potent enough, the latent capacity to absorb and project the 'chi' energy to the patient also
increases. Without spiritual energy it is not possible to develop strong internal 'chi'. So, it is highly
recommended to practice meditation.
• Fresh vegetables and fruits carry a lot of Pranic energy or life force.
• Regular exercise helps draw in fresh Pranic energy.
• Yoga, a proper lifestyle and positive thoughts
though also improve the aura of a person.
Dowsing or Divining
Dowsing or Divining is one such method to receive intuitive replies from pendulum by
reaching beyond the limitations of known knowledge.
“Dowsing is an Art, it is a Sacred Art and as we embrace dowsing, we come from our heart
and involve our spirit.”
In dowsing, we are identifying those energies that, impact on us and can be interpreted
physiologically. The dowsing instruments we use give us a physical manifestation of this
impact and allow an interpretation.
TAI CHI
What Is It?
How Does It Work?
What You Can Expect
Health Benefits
How To Choose a Practitioner
Cautions
What Is It?
Tai chi (pronounced "tie chee") is an ancient Chinese discipline that integrates mind, body, and spirit.
Practitioners use meditation and deep breathing as they move through a series of continuous exercises, called
"forms," which resemble slow-moving ballet. Though it originated as a martial art (evolving from qigong), tai
chi is now practiced more for its therapeutic benefits, which include reducing stress, promoting balance and
flexibility, and even easing arthritis pain.
According to one legend, tai chi was developed in China in the thirteenth century. As the story goes, a man who
was a monk and martial arts master invented it after watching a fight between a crane and a snake. Being the
bigger and more powerful of the two, the bird appeared to have the advantage. However, the snake's elusive
movements enabled it to win. Even today, practitioners who perform tai chi as a martial art use subtle
movements to dodge blows and turn an attacker's own momentum against him.
Tai chi is far more than a mode of self-defense, however. For hundreds of years, groups of Chinese people,
many of them elderly, have performed its fluid, graceful movements in parks throughout China as a way of
staying vital. Today, many people in the United States, Canada, and Europe have become interested in attaining
the health benefits of this ancient art as well.
It is believed that tai chi, a component of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), increases strength and promotes
calm and harmony by improving the flow of internal energy (or qi) throughout the body. It is the calming,
meditative aspect of tai chi that makes it particularly useful for reducing stress and anxiety. Indeed, people who
do tai chi regularly say that it improves their sense of well-being.
As an aerobic exercise, tai chi benefits the entire body, increasing muscle strength and enhancing balance and
flexibility. People who practice tai chi are also said to exploit the strength of yin (the earth) and the energy of
yang (the heavens) through exercises designed to express these forces in balanced and harmonious form.
You can learn tai chi privately from a tai chi master or in a class setting. If you are unable to find an instructor or
do not have access to classes, you can learn tai chi from books and videos. (Keep in mind that if you opt to learn
tai chi on your own, you will not get the valuable benefit of coaching and feedback from an experienced
teacher.) You don't need special attire. Wear something you will be comfortable moving around in. Tai chi can
be done in shoes or bare feet.
Sessions typically start with some sort of meditation to calm the mind, followed by easy warm-up exercises to
get the blood circulating. You will be taught to focus on your dantian--an area in the lower abdomen just
beneath the navel--which is the body's center of gravity. This will help you relax and center yourself. Deep
breathing (from the diaphragm as opposed to the chest) is a key element of tai chi. You will learn to coordinate
your breathing with each movement you make.
After the warm-up, your instructor will teach a series of slow flowing movements that performed together
constitute a "form." Forms reflect the natural world and have names like "Crane Spreads Its Wings" and
"Grasping the Bird's Tail." An average tai chi routine takes about 10 minutes, but a more advanced form may
include up to 100 movements and require as long as an hour to perform.
Doing tai chi is not as easy as it looks. Perfecting the art demands focus and unity of mind, body, and spirit.
Practice is essential. Many people make tai chi a regular habit, doing it at the same time every day. You may
find tai chi to be an invigorating way to begin your morning or you may wish to do it after work to ease tension
built up from the day.
Health Benefits
Tai chi can be used as a preventive health measure, as a way to maintain good health, or to help with a specific
ailment. While tai chi cannot cure disease, it is often recommended as a complementary therapy to conventional
treatment. Specifically, tai chi can be used to help:
• Arthritis. By strengthening the muscles surrounding an arthritic joint and improving flexibility, tai chi
increases range of motion without causing pain. Although tai chi cannot treat bone and cartilage damage caused
by arthritis, it can lessen the severity and pain of the disease when started early enough.
• Balance. Research shows that practicing tai chi improves balance in older people and thus reduces the risk of
falling--a major cause of death and disability in the elderly.
• Circulation problems. Tai chi may enable the heart to pump more blood with each beat, thereby improving
circulation.
• High blood pressure. A recent study done at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions revealed that tai chi
lowered blood pressure almost as much as moderate-intensity aerobic exercise in older adults who had been
sedentary.
• Multiple sclerosis. Preliminary studies suggest that tai chi helps people with MS to increase their physical
functioning as well as their mental well-being.
• Stress. Although the evidence is limited, some studies have shown that tai chi is as effective as meditation
and walking for reducing the amount of stress hormones in the body.
Tai chi teachers are not medical professionals and therefore are not licensed. To find a class, try your local
YMCA, YWCA, CA, or health club. Colleges, universities, and city recreation departments may also offer classes. If
you'd prefer to learn tai chi one-on-one
one from a tai chi master, contact a martial arts school and ask for
recommendations. We also teach Tai chi exercises
exercise to our students.
Don't commit to anything until you are sure the class or teacher is right for you. Observe a class or take a trial
class if it is an option. Talk to the other students in the class and be sure to inquire about the instructor's
background and experience.
You can also check the library or a bookstore for books and videos to supplement what you have learned in a
class.
Cautions
• Tai chi is safe for people of all ages and fitness levels. However, if you are older and sedentary, consult your
y
doctor before starting tai chi.
• Tell your instructor if you have any health problems that may compromise your ability to do certain
movements.
• Tai chi should not make you ache. If it does, tell your instructor. You should be able to modify your practice
so it is pain free.
CRYSTAL HEALING
The beauty and power of crystals and other stones have long been recognized, from the ancient times of
Tutankhamen to the modern masterpieces of Cartier and Faberge.
They have always been prized for their beauty and their healing and spiritual properties.
Healers, shamans, priests and spiritual seekers have used crystals for their special powers.
Crystal healing today continues to find new ways in which minerals can help us restore to balance our stressful
stressfu
lives.
Science has yet to determine what happens during crystal healing, but changes felt by the participants and the
lasting benefits that can be gained are not diminished by this. A popular theory is that crystals actually vibrate at
the same pitch as people, and can be used to relieve suffering because the resonance between the patient and the
stone either combats the vibration of illness or amplifies those of health.
Traditional remedies, such as herbalism, homeopathy and crystal therapies, can be seen seen as natural alternatives
for, or complementary with modern drugs. With the recent swing toward holistic and alternative medicine, many
people are turning to crystals not only to help cure their ailments, but significantly, to maintain optimum health.
Small tumbled stones are very useful in crystal healing. For convenience, select stones that will not be too heavy
when placed on the body but won’t be so small as to get lost easily. Flatter stones will stay in place more easily
than round ones. Aim to gather at least two crystal stones of each spectrum colour (they don’t have to be the
same type of stone).
• Small natural crystals of clear quartz are invaluable. It is useful to have 10-12, each about 2-3cm 3/4-l 1/4 inch
in length.
• Small natural crystals of amethyst, smoky quartz and citrine are less common but well worth acquiring where
possible.
•A small hand-sized Crystal cluster of clear quartz or amethist is useful for cleaning and charging your stones
and crystal jewellery.
•Larger single stones and tumbled stones are useful to hold and to use as meditatior tools. Work with one or two
that attract you and that you feel happy with. It is better to work with a few stones, than superficially with many.
Whether a crystal is clear or battered and grubby it will have the same internal orderliness and potential for
healing.
Some crystals are hard, others scratch very easily. Even hard crystals may be brittle and handle them with care.
New stones need to be cleansed before you use them. Cleansing crystals removes unwanted energy and restores
them to their original clarity, so it should be carried out each time your crystals are used for healing. If you do
not cleanse your stones they will become less effective and may pass on imbalances or energetic static. You
might detect this as a feeling of heaviness or unpleasantness.
INCENSE OR SMUDGE STICK: Hold the crystal within the smoke of the incense or smudge stick. Herbs
such as sage, cedar, sandalwood and frankincense are used for their purifying qualities. Placing stones on a
crystal cluster will clean them ; alternatively surround the stone with clear quartz points for 24 hours.
VISUALIZATION: Take a deep breath and blow over the crystal. Imagine that you are clearing away
negativities. Repeat.
SEA SALT: Use dry sea salt in a small container and bury the crystal for 24 hours. Don’t use salt water as this
damages softer stones.
SUN AND WATER: Hold the crystals under running water for a minute and then place in the sun to dry.
SOUND: The vibrations of a pure sound can energetically clean a crystal. A bell, gong or tuning fork can be
used for this purpose.
There are many thousands of minerals on earth, but only relatively few are used in crystal healing.
The easiest way to remember what each crystal does is learning the properties of color which will help you
identify the general functions of a crystal or gemstone.
The Color red stimulates, activates and energizes. It is associated with the first chakra at the base of the spine,
which is the centre in the subtle anatomy for action and activity. Ability to use practical skills, movement,
motivation, protection, physical survival and the use of life—energy are some of its main functions.
GARNET, in its red varieties, is one of the speediest energizers. It will increase energy wherever it is placed. It
will also tend to activate other stones placed nearby.
RUBY is a red variety of the very hard mineral, corundum. It works with the energies of the heart centre and the
circulation within the subtle anatomies. It is energizing but balancing in its effects.
JASPER, a dark or brick red massive form or quartz, is commonly found on beaches. It is a useful stone to place
near the base chakra. It is grounding and gently activating to the functions of the body.
Pink, a blend of both red and white, has a gentle and subtle way of pushing things towards a resolution. It is
related to the actions of the base Chakra and the heart chakra, and helps to bring emotions and sensitivity into
our daily actions.
ROSE QUARTZ CRYSTAL is the best known and favourite of the pink stones. It has a calming and reassuring
effect. However, it can also be a powerful releaser of unexpressed emotions where they might be thwarting
personal growth.
RHODONITE, when polished, is a salmon pink often flecked with black. This works with the practical aspects
of our feelings, and has a greater grounding effect than other pink stones.
KUNZITE is a pale pink and violet stone. Having striated crystal structure it is an excellent shifter of emotional
debris, and also helps self- expression.
RHODOCROSITE is a delicate banded stone of pink, yellow and orange. It will help to improve self—image
and self-worth, especially when problems in this area are preventing action. It is excellent for balancing the
functions of the second and third chakras.
Orange is an equal mix of red and yellow, and this combines energizing and focusing qualities. It is associated
with the second chakra, which deals with the flow or lack of flow within the body Creativity and artistic skills
are an expression of this flow, while shock, trauma and blocks indicate the lack of flow.
CARNELIAN is the most popular orange stone, characterized by a sense of warmth and a gently energizing
effect. It is commonly found on beaches. It will nearly always be of benefit in healing.
ORANGE CALCITE is smooth and lustrous. It is ideal for the delicate encouragement of potential, and because
of its softness and watery feel, is good at melting away problems.
DARK CITRINE, orange and browny- orange, is a balanced stimulator that will bring out practical creative
skills. It can be used as a gentle grounding and supporting stone.
TOPAZ, with its elongated crystal form and parallel striations running its length, is an excellent clearing stone
that can be used to direct energy around the body.
COPPER, which can be found as natural nuggets and crystallized forms, is ideal for use when a lack of flow
creates stagnation and clumsiness. It has a beneficial effect on many physical and subtle systems.
Yellow relates to the solar plexus chakra that regulates the functioning of the nervous system, digestive and
immune systems and the ability to discriminate and identify things. Stress, fear, happiness a contentment are all
linked to this colour.
AMBER, a fossil tree resin, varies in colour from a lemon yellow to a rich orange brown, including a deep red
and green. It has a beneficial effect on the nervous system and self-healing processes.
RUTILATED QUARTZ CRYSTAL is a clear or smoky crystal containing fine threads of golden or orange
rutile crystals. It is excellent for moving healing energy from place to place, and works well with broken or
damaged tissues.
TIGER’S EYE is a variety of quartz with a velvety sheen that looks like a sweet. The packed fibres and the
bands of browns, golds and reds speed up energy flow and anchor subtle changes into the physical body
CITRINE QUARTZ CRYSTAL is a popular yellow stone. When it is a bright, clear yellow it will help to keep the

Laser Wand: They help us to challenge those beliefs we hold to be as true and solid as the earth beneath our
feet.
Hypnosis is like an induced "sleep like" state in which the subject readily accepts the hypnotist's
suggestions... Webster's dictionary.
Hypnosis is a state or condition in which the subject becomes highly responsive to suggestions. The Hypnotized
individual seems to follow instructions in an uncritical, automatic fashion and attends closely only to those
aspects of the environment made relevant by the Hypnotist. If the subject is highly responsive, he or she hears,
sees, feels, smells and tastes in accordance with the suggestions given, even if these may be in direct
contradiction to the actual stimuli that impinge upon the subject. Furthermore, memory and awareness of the
self can be altered by suggestions. All of these may be extended post hypnotically into the individual's
subsequent waking activity. It is as if suggestions given during hypnosis come to define the individual's
perception of the real world. In this case, the phenomenon has been described as "believed - in fantasy".
A Hypnotic state is a state in which the conscious mind is so preoccupied or confused, that a thought created by
a statement or by experience can bypass the critical factor and pass powerfully into the subconscious mind. If
not removed by subsequent conscious logic, the thought will remain as an ongoing and powerful force.
Hypnosis produces an opportunity to create communication between the conscious mind and the subconscious
mind, which produces positive results.
Under Hypnosis, the subject would never do anything that is harmful to them nor would they do anything that
they would not normally do in an awaken state. The subject, although extremely deep in relaxation, is fully
aware of what he or she is doing and will remember the process.
Hypnosis in not an "Alternative Approach", but is considered "Complementary" to any other practice. This
means that Hypnosis can enhance healing the Mind, Body and Spirit and works well with other methods of
healing as well as speed up the process. It enhances as it works side by side in the Medical, Dental and
Therapeutic fields as well. We produce our own health problems. Rather than covering up an issue or issues,
getting to the core of the problem is the key to successfully diminishing, if not completely deleting the
symptoms. Hypnosis opens the door to the essence of what had originally caused the problems, and through
suggestion, it erases them all together.
The benefits from Hypnosis include but are not limited to the following...
• Anyone can be hypnotised, if you can relax and follow simple instructions you can enjoy hypnotic trance.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is basically any therapy done in conjunction with hypnotic trance. It is often classed as a form of
complementary medicine but is perhaps better viewed as a branch of psychotherapy.
Hypnosis is not an occult or esoteric art, it is a scientifically acknowledged psychological and therapeutic
discipline.
When a registered psychotherapist employs hypnosis alongside other forms of psychotherapy this is technically
known as ‘hypno-psychotherapy’. Hypnotherapists tend to use an integrative approach, which may combine
programmes of direct verbal suggestion or visualisation with ‘analytic’ psychotherapy techniques such as age
regression.
Does it work?
Yes. Hypnosis has fascinated psychologists and medical professionals for over a century and has been subject to
a great deal of rigorous testing and research. It also has an enviable and long-standing reputation for
effectiveness among the general public.
Is it officially recognised?
• ‘Hypnotism’ is legally acknowledged and defined by the Hypnotism Act 1952, in the UK Book of Statutes.
• In their 1892 Hypnotism Report, the British Medical Association (BMA) officially recognise the hypnotic
trance: ‘The Committee, having completed such investigation of hypnotism as time permitted, have to report
that they have satisfied themselves of the genuineness of the hypnotic state.’ The Committee also
acknowledged that ‘as a therapeutic agent hypnotism is frequently effective in relieving pain, procuring sleep,
and alleviating many functional ailments’ (BMA, 1892).
• In 1955 a follow-up report was commissioned which endorsed the findings of the original 1892 Committee,
and added the conclusions that ‘hypnotism is of value and may be the treatment of choice in some cases of so-
called psycho-somatic disorder and psychoneurosis. It may also be of value for revealing unrecognised motives
and conflicts in such conditions. As a treatment, in the opinion of the Subcommittee it has proved its ability to
remove symptoms and to alter morbid habits of thought and behaviour. […] In addition to the treatment of
psychiatric disabilities, there is a place for hypnotism in the production of anaesthesia or analgesia for surgical
and dental operations, and in suitable subjects it is an effective method of relieving pain in childbirth without
altering the normal course of labour.’ (BMA, 1955)
Is hypnosis safe?
Absolutely. There are no known records of anyone having been physically or mentally harmed as a direct result
of hypnosis itself.

sessions
Although we may not realise it, we all carry around within us the necessary resources for personal evolution and
success. Self-hypnosis can be a very effective tool for utilising those resources to make changes in our lives.
A good hypnotherapist should teach self-hypnosis to clients as part of their sessions;, always ask about this
before booking. In fact, one of the great tools that you can take away from a course in hypnotherapy is the
ability to use self hypnosis. Nearly everyone can learn how to use self-hypnosis to make specific changes in
areas of their life such as;
• Stop unwanted habits such as smoking
• Manage stress
• Increase concentration
• Improve athletic performance
• Improve self-confidence
• Improve sleeping
• Achieve goals, such as weight loss or exam success
Self-hypnosis is a perfectly safe, pleasant, non-toxic and often more effective alternative to tranquillisers or
painkillers. Self-hypnosis allows you to rejuvenate your body and mind, leading to a greater sense of well being.
What is self-hypnosis?
Many people have experienced a trance-like state many times in everyday life - although they may not have
called it hypnosis. For example, if you've ever drifted off into a daydream, become totally engrossed in a book
or project, or become absorbed in your thoughts while driving and missed a turning. The main difference
between these sorts of trance and self-hypnosis are specific motivation and suggestions towards a goal. Self-
hypnosis is deliberate and with a purpose.
Hypnosis can be described as a state of mind in which suggestions are acted upon much more powerfully than is
possible under normal conditions. By achieving a state of heightened focus and awareness, and suppressing the
critical faculty, suggestions can be passed directly to the unconcious mind.
The above remains true for self-hypnosis, but being done for your self rather than via a third party
(hypnotherapist). Many believe that all hypnosis is self hypnosis as the subject or client always remains in
control. The hypnotherapist is there only to guide the client into hypnosis, and in doing so teaches them a
powerful tool they can use for themselves.
Self-Hypnosis FAQs
Studies to determine people's susceptibility to hypnosis have found that nearly everyone is hypnotizable. Self-
hypnosis that uses proven techniques, and is personalised to take into account a person's own perceptions of
their own experiences, can be almost always successful. Some people can learn self-hypnosis very quickly,
whilst others take more time, however almost everybody can learn to use self hypnotism successfully.
The ideal place for self-hypnosis will be somewhere that is private, safe, comfortable and peaceful. This will
usually be indoors but it is possible to practice self hypnosis anywhere. Just try to ensure you will be
comfortable and free from noise disturbance or interruptions.
You can practice whenever you are able to set aside a few minutes free from disturbance or interruption.
However self-hypnosis should never be practiced when driving, operating machinery or carrying out any other
activity that requires your full attention.
Quality of time is more important than length of time. Set aside some designated time when you won't be
disturbed, 15 to 20 minutes a day as a guide. Remember that time spent practicing self-hypnosis is time invested
in yourself to make positive self-change, so practice regularly. Also, as you become more practiced you may
find that you need less time.
It doesn't matter, being comfortable is what's important so do what's most natural for you. For many people a
relaxed sitting position with the head supported is most comfortable. Lying down may make it too easy to drift
off to sleep - although if your goal is to use self-hypnosis to sleep then that would be fine!
Again, it doesn't matter, but most people feel more relaxed with their eyes closed. Many people skilled in self
hypnosis can enter trance with their eyes open, but most people will find it easier with eyes closed to start with.
You should expect to make positive changes that will benefit your life, based on the suggestions given during
hypnosis. Remember, change is a natural part of our existence and happens to us and all around us every day. To
expect change to happen is perfectly natural.
At some point during your hypnosis you can give yourself a suggestion that you will enter trance more easily
and quickly next time. For example, when in trance say to yourself "I can easily return to this deeply relaxed and
focussed state of awareness again whenever I choose, simply by taking a few deep and relaxing breaths".
We hope this Self Hypnosis FAQs page has helped to answer your questions about self hypnotism and has
helped you about to learn how to use self hypnosis more effectively.
Methods of self-hypnosis range from listening to relaxation tapes to simply clearing your mind of thoughts and
worries. Here is a step-by-step free guide to self-hypnosis, using one approach you may find helpful. Many
hypnotherapists encourage their clients to learn self-hypnosis.
Please note that self-hypnosis should never be practiced when driving, operating machinery or carrying out any
other activity that requires your full attention.
Always be clear and specific about your goals and write them down before you begin your hypnosis. Writing
down what it is you want to achieve or change can really help you to straighten things out in your mind and
goals can suddenly look more realistic, specific and focused. Keep it short and keep it achievable. Stick to one
or two goals only in a single session.
Plan what you want to say from beginning to end. You can write out a detailed script to follow as part of your
preparation.
Write several different suggestions for each goal, expressing the same goal in different ways. This will reinforce
the suggestion and ensure that it is accepted into the unconscious mind.
Create your own vision for your success
Develop your own imagery and symbols for supporting and visualising your goals. Imagine yourself achieving
whatever you wish to. Make it real, like a memory but in the future.
Imagery in Self-Hypnosis
Imagery can mean visualisation - using your imagination to form pictures in your mind. However, it can also
include all the senses of sight, sound, taste smell and feel. Whilst most people are predominantly visual in their
use of imagery, the most powerful and effective guided visualisation will incorporate elements from all the
senses.
In self-hypnosis a mental image is often worth many pages of verbal suggestions. You can use your own
memories and experiences to construct your own highly personal imagery to reinforce your suggestions for
change.
The following exercises can be used to practice and develop your imagery skills;
• Examine an object for a few moments, then close your eyes and try and visualise it.
• Visualise a person you know (maybe yourself). Imagine their distinguishing features.
• Visualise your home. Move around it from room to room and imagine what it looks, sounds, feels and
smells like.
There are two principal ways of using imagery to work towards a goal;
Process Imagery is the visualisation of the process or actions of achieving the goal you desire. For example, a
golfer might imagine executing a perfect shot as he approaches the ball.
Result Imagery creates mental pictures of the goal or result as if it has already occurred. If you are giving a talk
to colleagues, you might imagine yourself confidently delivering the speech, hear the applause and imagine the
positive outcome of your successful presentation.
A 1967 study by stress researcher Edmund Jacobson found that visualising an activity produces small but
measurable reactions in the muscles involved in the imagined activity. Repeated mental rehearsal implants the
learned memory of a successful action, and also conditions the unconscious mind with the outcome you expect
to achieve.
Suppose, for example, your goal is to lose weight. You could use result imagery to imagine yourself as the size
and weight you want to be. Mentally picture yourself in the mirror looking trim and as thin as you wish, fitting
neatly into the dress or suit size you want to achieve. Imagine the feeling of being your ideal weight. You may
also use process imagery to imagine yourself eating smaller, healthier portions of food. You might picture
yourself feeling full whilst leaving food still on your plate. These images will reinforce the positive processes
you will go through to achieve your desired result.
Visualisation and imagination are closely related to the unconscious mind. In fact, imagery has been described
as the language of the unconscious. The key to successful use of imagery is to be as creative and imaginative as
you can. Use your own memories and experiences and fill your images with colours, sounds, aromas, textures
and tastes to be as real and as absorbing as they can be. Keep your visualisations positive and personally
appealing to be a powerful tool in self hypnosis.
Make it personal
Use language and images which reflect your own experience. We all have our own memories and experiences of
the world, and speak to ourselves in our own language. Put your suggestions into your own words and use
images you are familiar with.
We all have our own personal collection of memories and experiences, and we speak to ourselves in a language
that has unique meaning to us based on these experiences. Your unconscious mind will relate best to suggestions
which reflect your own experience of the world. You will find most success with self-hypnosis if you use your
own words and symbols in your suggestions.
Try to discover your own predominant mode of communication (that is, which of the senses you most relate to),
and use words and phrases that are connected with that sense in your own hypnotic language. For example,
primarily visual language; "I can see..", "picture this..", or primarily auditory language; "I hear that..", "it sounds
like..", or primarily kinaesthetic "it feels like..", "hold on to that idea..". Research has shown that hypnotic
suggestions are acted upon more effectively when they match the individual's own communication style.
Symbols are images that you use to represent something else, and can be used in your suggestions to represent
your goals. For example clouds billowing in a blue sky can symbolise a relaxed state of mind, or leaves falling
from the trees can represent the relinquishing of problems. These symbols will be most effective if they are
taken from your own past experience as your unconscious will be more able to relate to them.
Take the time before a self-hypnosis session to plan your goals and think of some suitable images and symbols
to support them. Take images from your own memories and be as creative and as imaginative as you can be in
describing them.
Your suggestions should be specific and achievable. Vague descriptions or images are less likely to be acted
upon. Finding different ways of expressing the same goal will increase your chances of success.
Make suggestions positive, rather than negative. Most people react unfavourably to negative 'do not' statements.
We do not like to be told 'NO'. However, a positively worded suggestion with a positive benefit attached to it is
more likely to be accepted. For example, "You will not eat chocolate anymore" is a negative command that
might easily be rejected or ignored. A more effective and readily accepted suggestion might be; "As you choose
more healthy and nutritious foods to eat, you may begin to feel lighter, healthier and more energetic".
Use emotive words in your script - positive emotions will reinforce your suggestions. For example, 'I feel deeply
relaxed..', 'I breathe effortlessly..', 'I can experience a wonderful feeling of calmness..'
And finally, your script need not be half-hearted or flawed for realism - aim for an ideal, make it perfect.
Begin the session in your normal voice at a relaxed pace. As the session progresses, slow down and soften your
voice so that as you enter hypnosis, you are speaking softly, and at a slower pace than when you began. Your
voice can return to normal at the end of the session as you leave hypnosis.
Find a place that is quiet, comfortable and free from disturbance to practice self-hypnosis. You certainly must
not be driving or in any other situation where your immediate attention is required. Soft music and lighting may
help but we would not recommend the burning of candles.
Relax
Use deep breathing and relaxation techniques to prepare for entering hypnosis. Just focus internally and start to
notice whatever you notice. This is not a time for judging, analysing, criticising or worrying. Notice your
thoughts and feelings and assume that very soon they will just drift away - they are really not necessary at the
moment. Allow your mind to become calmer and clearer.
One proven method of achieving complete relaxation is deep breathing. This is an ancient method favoured by
yoga masters and is a useful and enjoyable way to begin self-hypnosis.
Our normal everyday breathing is typically rather shallow and rapid, and usually involves expanding and
contracting the chest. However, deep, diaphragmatic breathing is healthier and comes from the abdomen. In
diaphragmatic breathing you allow your belly to expand outwards as you inhale, pulling the diaphragmatic
membrane beneath your lungs downwards and allowing your lungs to draw in air to fill the space. Inhale slowly
through the nose and exhale slowly through the mouth.
This kind of slow, deep, rhythmic breathing triggers a 'relaxation response' in the body, the opposite of the
adrenaline-fuelled ‘fight or flight' response. Some of the beneficial changes that occur as part of this type of
relaxation are reduced heart rate, increased blood flow to the extremities, and muscular relaxation.
An exercise in breathing
Begin by taking a deep diaphragmatic breath, inhaling through your nose, for a count of three. Now, having
filled your lungs, hold your breath for a count of three. Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of six.
Wait for a count of four and repeat the breathing cycle again.
Always keep your breathing comfortable and relaxing. Don't inhale so deeply that your lungs hurt or burn. If
you feel dizzy or light-headed at any time stop for a while and then continue.
This exercise in breathing can be done anywhere and any time, and can be used to help counter tension or
pressure. Take five of these slow, deep, relaxing breaths as preparation for self hypnosis.
Progressive Relaxation
Progressive relaxation is a system of relaxation developed by Edmund Jacobson and means focusing separately,
and progressively, on each of the muscle groups in your body in turn, and allowing any tension held in those
muscles to be released. Jacobson designed this technique based on the argument that "an anxious mind cannot
exist within a relaxed body". Particular attention should be given to the neck, shoulders and facial muscles as
these areas can hold a great deal of tension.
Active progressive relaxation involves tensing each muscle group as you inhale, holding the tension for a few
seconds, and then gradually releasing the tension completely as you slowly fully exhale. This can be done for
each muscle group in turn until the whole body is relaxed. The main muscle groups which can be relaxed in this
way are; legs and feet, arms and hands, back shoulders and neck, stomach and chest, buttocks, face and head.
Passive progressive relaxation is similar to the above, except that it does not require you to actively tense your
muscles at all. Instead you simply imagine the tension flowing out of your body with each breathe you exhale,
working progressively around your body as before. It can help to visualise the tension as a kind of liquid which
drains away out of your body as you breathe. This is a comfortable and easy method of relaxation which can be
done almost anywhere.
Once you are fully relaxed, remember how it feels, and create an image in your mind that describes your relaxed
state. This will help you to return to this state of relaxation again more easily in future. Deep relaxation is an
excellent way to prepare for self-hypnosis.
Use 'deepeners' in your hypnosis script, such as going down a staircase or an elevator, or floating down a stream,
to help yourself go deeper into your hypnosis. Count down in your mind as you go deeper into relaxation. At
times there will be inner resistance to relaxation especially when you first start to practice self hypnosis. Just be
aware of it and let it go...It will!
Hypnosis can be described as a state of deep relaxation where the hypnotised subject experiences a heightened
level of awareness coupled with a narrowing of their focus of attention. This hypnotic state is called trance and
is a perfectly safe state which can occur naturally during everyday life. In self-hypnosis we aim to deliberately
put ourselves into a hypnotic trance.
To be in a trance does not mean to be asleep, although it can sometimes look that way, but in fact the opposite is
true. Studies of the brain activity of people in trance have revealed an increased level of alertness. Hypnosis is a
very personal experience and it should be remembered that each individual will experience trance in his or her
own way.
First find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed, and begin by getting comfortable and relaxed. Use deep
breathing and progressive relaxation techniques to get as deeply relaxed as you can.
There is no fixed method for trance induction, in fact there are many hundreds of different techniques which
have been used effectively. The following are some common and proven examples of techniques and any
combination can be used to enter trance, whichever you find works best for you.
Eye Fixation
With your eyes open, focus your attention on any small spot or object in front of you and above your line of
sight. Keep focussing on the spot and direct all your attention towards it, clearing your mind of all other
thoughts and distractions. Continue breathing deeply and slowly, and begin suggesting to yourself how relaxed
you feel, and how tired your eyes are becoming. Allow yourself to keep relaxing more and more and eventually,
when your eyes become tired and heavy, you can close them.
Utilise Tension
It is possible to enter a trance state even when you find it impossible to relax. If you are finding it impossible to
let go of tension or anxiety, psychologist Michael Yapko in his book 'Trancework' (1990) describes how you can
utilize your current stressed, anxious or tense state as a focus for entering trance. You simply allow and accept
your present state of mind, whilst beginning to think back to a time when you were involved in an experience of
calmness, comfort, or relaxation and absorption, such that you didn't pay any attention to things going on around
you. In doing this you can allow your feelings and responses to move towards those remembered from this past
experience.
Visualisation
Visualisation is one of the most powerful tools in self-hypnosis. Use visualisation and imagery to create images
in your mind that suggest relaxation, for example, lying on a beach or walking in a forest. Allow your
imagination to flow naturally and let yourself become absorbed by your mental images as you enter trance.
Stairway to relaxation
This is another example of imagery, and one that is often used to deepen the level of relaxation. Imagine
yourself at the top of a beautiful staircase, there may be 10 steps to the bottom. The stairs lead to the most
beautiful, wonderful and relaxing place you can imagine, which may be real or fantasised. Imagine descending
the staircase, counting down the steps as you descend, and with each step suggesting to yourself an increased
feeling of relaxation and a deepening of the hypnotic trance. As you reach the bottom you will be as deeply
relaxed as you can be.
Physical Responses
Creating a perceived physical response to hypnosis is a way to focus your attention inwards even further. Use
suggestions and imagination to create a physical feeling or sensation in your body. For example, imagine
warmth, or numbness, or heaviness, or lightness in your hand. Feeling the physical response occurring will
indicate achieving a level of self-hypnosis.
Emotional Responses
Sometimes people find them selves so immersed and preoccupied with an emotional feeling that they find it
difficult to use imagery. Strong emotions such as grief, anger or fear can be overwhelming, but may be utilised
to help enter hypnosis. In this case, try to develop an image in the mind like a scene from a movie in which you
are the main character. Focus on your current emotions and observe the movie of your current situation,
allowing your character to experience all the feelings you are presently having. By becoming absorbed in the
movie as an observer, and maintaining a detached awareness, you will soon discover that you have entered
trance. When you are ready, you can extend your movie towards working on your goals.
Utilise Distractions
Where possible, incorporate distracting sounds in your suggestions, rather than trying to fight them. Notice any
external sounds that you can hear and then allow them to be included in your suggestions for relaxation.
Similarly, internal distractions such as worries, pains or self-doubt can be focussed on and used to help deepen
your self-hypnosis. Of course, some distractions will require your attention immediately, such as the doorbell
ringing or a child requiring attention. In these cases deal with the distraction satisfactorily and then return to
your self-hypnosis.
Self-hypnosis is a very personal and individual experience and different methods will feel more comfortable for
different people. Techniques such as those above can be changed and adapted to suit the individual. Self-
hypnosis is a natural skill which can be developed and made easier with practice.
Spend some time in your own special place. Create your own magical place in your mind, maybe somewhere
you know, maybe just an imagined paradise. This can be a place where you feel safe and relaxed and anything is
possible. Use all of your senses - what can you see, hear, feel, smell and taste? Make this experience as vivid as
you can, again, you will get much better with practice.
Towards the end of your trance, include some post-hypnotic suggestions for re-entering self-hypnosis next time
you practice.
Usually when practicing self-hypnosis, we are doing so for a reason. We want to change something in our lives
or achieve a specific goal when we are no longer in hypnosis. The power of posthypnotic suggestions helps to
make this possible.
A posthypnotic suggestion is a suggestion which is given during hypnosis for an action or response to take place
after the hypnotic experience. These suggestions may be for an action, a feeling or an internal physical change
to occur.
Posthypnotic cues are used to trigger posthypnotic suggestions after the hypnosis session has ended. A
posthypnotic cue may be an action, thought, word, image or event that is used to trigger a response implanted
during trance.
These powerful tools can be used in self-hypnosis to allow you to change your behaviour and responses during
your everyday life, outside of hypnosis.
For example, suppose your goal is to be able to feel more calm and relaxed in stressful situations. During self
hypnosis you could make the association between deep breathing and feeling relaxed. The posthypnotic
suggestion is to be able to relax and feel calm at any time. Deep breathing becomes a cue for triggering this
feeling of relaxation. When faced with a tense or stressful situation, feelings of calm and relaxation can be
quickly restored with a few deep, slow breaths.
Some further examples of the use of posthypnotic cues and suggestions might be; feeling full when opening the
fridge door, helping to achieve the goal of eating less; feeling calm and safe when fastening the safety belt in an
aircraft to help conquer fears about flying; use turning off the light as a cue for yawning and feeling sleepy to
help with sleeping.
One of the simplest and most common uses for posthypnotic suggestions is to help you re-enter trance more
easily in future. For example, during your self-hypnosis session you might give yourself suggestions such as the
following;
"Anytime in the future I wish to renter this comfortable and pleasant state of calm and relaxation, I will find I
can do so just by making myself comfortable and breathing deeply and slowly for a few minutes... and I will be
able to return quickly and easily to this level of deep relaxation and focussed awareness whenever I choose."
At the end of your session, count yourself back to full awareness. Suggest to yourself that when you leave
hypnosis you will feel refreshed and alert. Check that you are once again fully awake and alert and enjoy the rest
of the day!
You can, if you wish, make your own self-hypnosis tapes from your scripts. This can be a good way to enter
hypnosis and make changes you have already planned, without the need to remember your script as you enter
trance.
The world we "see" is filtered through our needs, wishes, values, and worldview, and the resulting memories
are recorded into our brains not as objective, historical renderings of "Truth"; rather, our brain records reality as
perceived through our human subjectivity. This is true of past life memories as well. While in the PLR trance
state we become witnesses to ourselves in other human bodies seeking joy, meaning, survival, and prosperity
just as we are now. And we witness ourselves in other human bodies which are subject to the same inclinations
to make mistakes, poor choices, pursue unhealthy habits and misadventures as now. Wisdom does not come
merely through the reliving of the past, but in transcending the patterns of the past. PLR aids in that process.
We have taken the human form to bring a certain wisdom and range of experience to our soul. The evolution
of our soul is a process; we can take as much time as we need, repeat as many mistakes as necessary, and re-live
the same lessons over and over until they are learned and deeply ingrained. We have eternity on both sides of
the present moment, rendering time a playground for our soul when it is embodied in the human form.
While experiencing Past Life Regression, people are able to access a deeper, more complete understanding of
themselves by recovering their soul's history which, to that point, had been inaccessible to awareness. But that
doesn't mean those forgotten memories haven't influenced our choices and
and perceptions. Indeed, the influence is
profound but unseen and we are compelled to repeat the patterns of the past until we step outside the limitations
of our everyday awareness. Past Life Regression helps one shift from the psychological to a spiritual dimension
of being.
Our spirit is that part of us that transcends time and links us to the Divine. Our human form and brain drapes an
awareness that has existed in other bodies and, upon the death of the physical body, will leave to assume other
forms. Contained
tained within our spirit are the memories and awareness of all we have been and all who we are.
Through hypnosis it is possible to consciously realize that we are spiritual beings occupying a human
form, not human beings striving to be spiritual.

Meditation
Meditation is not really forcing your mind to be quiet; it's finding the quiet that's already there. In fact,
when you really examine the background static of guilt, worry, resentment, wishful thinking, fantasy,
unfulfilled hopes, and vague dreams in your head, it becomes clear that the internal dialogue going on
inside is literally controlling us. Each of us is the victim of memory—that's
memory that's how the Ayurvedic masters
diagnosed it thousands of years ago.
Behind the screen of our internal dialogue, there is something entirely different: the silence of a mind
that is not imprisoned by the past. That's the silence we want to bring into our awareness through
meditation.
As you gain experience with meditation, you'll begin to feel the reappearance of youthful energy and
vitality that is being released from a deeper level
level of the nervous system. This is a very profound
change and the real fountain of youth.
