Ada beberapa aturan bagi Countable nouns yaitu,

1. Bisa dibentuk menjadi Plural Nouns spt.: a book – two books
2. Bisa digunakan untuk awalan :a, an, the [atau article= Kata Sandang]: “a” dan “the” seperti: a car (=sebuah
mobil) – The car (=mobil itu)

3. Bisa digunakan untuk beberapa ekspresi jumlah yaitu, a few, few, many, some, every, each, these, those,
all of, none of, both, a lot of, a great many, some, any, several dan the number of; F.x : A few books, many
pens, few computers, some flowers, every balloon, each camera, dan the number of spoons , a lot of
horses, a great many of students.

4. Jangan menyatukan kata benda yang dapat dihitung dengan kata much (karena ini khusus untuk
UnCountable Nouns) sebagai Contoh, tidak bisa menyebutkan much pens, atau much computers atau a

Ada beberapa aturan bagi Uncountable nouns yaitu:
1. Tidak bisa dibentuk menjadi Plural Nouns (Kata Benda Jamak) spt.: rice – rices (salah), wool – wools (salah), water
– waters(salah).
 We eat rice with a spoon= Kami makan nasi dengan sebuah sendok.

2. Tidak bisa digunakan untuk awalan :a, an, [atau article= Kata Sandang]: ” seperti: a wheat (salah), a wind (salah),
a violence (salah); tetapi bisa diawali dengan “The”, seperti The bread, the syrup, the oil, the hair:

 A water is very important for us (salah)

 Water is very important for us= Air sangat penting bagi kita.

 The bread is made from the flour= Roti terbuat dari tepung.

 The fruit is useful for our health= Buah adalah berguna untuk kesehatan kita.

3. Dapat dirangkai dengan kata seperti: a lot of, lots of, a great deal of, plenty of, little, a little, Some, Any, All (of),
enough, much, none (of):

 Much wheat, a lot of walking, sleep enough, a great deal of soap, little soup, some coffee, any rice, all of
the ink, none of the milk, plenty of fruit.

4. Selalu memakai kata kerja tunggal, yaitu dengan penambahan s/es pada kata kerja biasa dan to be: is atau was
untuk kalimat nominal.

 The water makes us satisfy= Air itu membuat saya puas.

 Fruit is very good for us= Buah-buahan sangat bagus bagi kita.
