have their own characteristic of noodles. Even there are have a
difference, but the main ingredient of noodles in every country is the
same, that is flour.

Noodles are foods that many people like, especially instant noodles. Noodle is a food
that defined as “a food past made usually with egg and shaped typically in ribbon form.”
(Merriam-Webster dictionary). Also it can be defined as “a food in the form long, thin strips
made from flour of rice, water, and often egg, cooked in boiling liquid” (Cambaridge
dictionary). Noodle can be different meanings to every people. It is because noodle has
different ingredients, shapes, taste, texture, and different meanings associated to each. In
Indonesian and Korean, noodle have different history, brands, taste and flavor. Although in
every country noodles is different, the main ingredient for making noodles is flour.
Indonesian noodles originet from Chinese that resulted from the immigration of
Chinese settlers to the Indonesian archipelago. Starting from word halasangka which was
found in the Biluluk inscription dated from 1391. Hanglaksa in Kawi means "vermicelli
maker". In Sanskrit, laksa means "one hundred thousand", referring to numerous strands of
the vermicelli. Consumption of noodles in Indonesia, reached a new height after the advent of
the Indonesian instant noodle industry back in the 1970s. Since then, Indonesia has become
one of the world's major producers and consumers of instant noodles. Dissimilar to
Indonesian, Korean noodles or ramyeon in Korean, began from 1963, as a cheap filler food
during the post-Korean war age when most were famished. The Korean ramyeon industry
continued to propel forward and was exported to foreign countries. And since then, ramyeon
known in every countries.
Indonesian noodles and Korean noodles both have various types of noodles. but the
most popular is instant noodles. These two countries have a famous brands of instant noodles.
For example, in Indonesia, the most popular instant noodles which are branded Indomie. The
variant of Indomie are Indomie goreng (fried noodle) and Indomie rebus (noodle soup). In
Korean, the most popular instant noodles which are Samyang. Similar to Indomie, Samyang
also has noodle soup and fried noodle.
The taste and flavors of Indonesian and Korean instant noodles are difference. The
taste of Indonesian instant noodles are spicy, sweet, savory, salty and sour, while in Korea
only have a dominant taste of spicy, salty and savory. In addition to, Indonesian noodles have
a many variant flavors. It is because each region in Indonesia has a different flavors. Starting
from Indomie Soto, Kari Ayam, Indomie rendang, Indomie Aceh, etc. Not only in
Indonesian, Korean noodles also have the variant flavors such as Samyang Cheese, Jjajang,
Original, etc.
Noodles in every country must be different. like in Indonesia and Korea, both
Indonesian and Korean instant noodle have a difference of history, kinds, taste and flavors
These two countries have their own characteristic of noodles. Even there are have a
difference, but the main ingredient of noodles in every country is the same, that is flour.
