Frequency refers to the number of activity sessions per week. It is recommended that 150 minutes of
cardiovascular activity a week is ideal for an average American. To achieve cardiovascular fitness,
training should be at least 3-5 days per week while only 2-3 days of training are needed to achieve
muscular fitness.

Intensity refers to the amount of effort expanded or how difficult the activity is to perform which can
be described as low, moderate or vigorous intensity.

Time of Activity refers to how long each session lasts. It’s best to perform activities consecutively
for 20-30 minutes, especially when training for something specific like a race.

Type of Activity refers to the range of physical activity a person can engage to promote health and
physical fitness.
