Lars Von Trier

He is a Danish film director and screenwriter. He was born in Denmark on 30 April 1956. He started in
the cinematographic world because he loved watching films when he was a child. Andrei Tarkovsky,
the Russian film director, is his favorite director, his job had a big influence on Von Trier’s own job. Von
Trier’s job is known for his genre and technical innovation, it’s so metaphoric. When he was a young
director he started an association named “Dogme 95”, in this group he wrote a list of rules to
transgress the traditional way for making films. His subjects more usual are: mercy, sacrifice and
mental health.

He got married to Bente Froge and they had four children. Lars Von Trier is a polemical person because
his job uses an unusual form for telling stories. I thing he is a great director and his perspective about
life is so interesting and exciting, he touches the deepest and darkest parts of the human soul and with
that his job is so difficult to watch but pretty important to understand us like human beings.
