Course: Mathematics Grade 3 Unit 5

Learning Goal: Students will be able to use multiplication facts, place value,
and properties to solve multiplication problems.

Students will be able to apply multiplication facts, place value, and


properties to solve multiplication problems on a cognitively complex task
such as “what’s the best deal?”

Students will be able to use multiplication facts, place value, and


properties to solve multiplication problems.

Students will be able to


 Identify and describe a number pattern shown in a function
table and outside of a function table
 understand what a pattern is
 understand how to identify a pattern within the different contexts,
and which operations are being used
 understand how to use a function table

 Use multiplication strategies to find an unknown factor


understand the relationship between multiplication and an array
 understand how to use an array
 understand that a letter, or variable, is the unknown factor
 understand how to use a multiplication table

 Solve multiplication problems by using the distributive property


of multiplication
 understand how to use the distributive property
 understand that an array is a representation of a multiplication
equation

 Use base-ten blocks, a number line, or place value to model and


record multiplication with multiples of 10
Even with teacher support the student only has partial success with
2.0 content.
