Iseyas Efewerqi satire interview

Iseyas Efewerqi sits down for three times with opposition website Gizie-Lewti.com for the first
time in Eritrean history.

The first part of the interview

But your disappearance is always good news not only for Eritrea but also for you because
your human rights violation will not rise. But things have not gone well because you came
back. Why did you come back or ንምንታይ ኢኻ ምሉስ?

It is true that I was not in the viewfinder of the people in the days you have mentioned. The
reason is I was very busy in one of my secret party’s congress from the beginning to the
end.
3 Dear president, is it right the Tigriyna translation of the following English sentence?
She can read, write and swim but he can only swim.

Look man, here in Eritreans there is no rule of grammar. We have only a rule of law. When
you write; translate; speak … follow what your heart tells you.

4The so-called rule of law glued hermetically every individual person’s lips together. Owing
to this Eritrea is not only losing songs of ancestors but also it is not producing new. Why is this
heritage worthless for you?

Where is the evidence that songs were before?

5Another question, what do you want to leave behind a political legacy that your fans (tifosi
ቲፎሲ ) will remember you by?

Who told you that I am going to leave my office? And this is something that remains to be

6Critic says that you will be remembered of the following four points:
a) As a guy who dug one of the longest trench (see the picture - likened this
conflict to the trench warfare of World War I) to be abandoned within 24 hours
b) As a guy remembered best as tyrant of Eritrea
c) A gay who had no time to learn rudimentary demands of justice
d) A gay who knows how to tire out but not how to mend
2

Do you want to damage a person’s name through defamation/

7Dear President, you are an experienced man at digging trenches 4-7 feet deep, but for the
root of freedom, constitution … not even an inch. Tell me why?

Don’t know that the Swedish people prefer to live in Eritrea because Eritrea is far better
than their country.

8Dear President, which of these city allegations you dismiss first?

a) Asmara city is saying ‘’so far I have experienced no difference between Iseyas the son
and Efewerqi the father in terms of ideology’’.
b) Addis Ababa says ‘I know his mind that is why he was expelled from university
c) Peking says ‘he learned all the wrong things ;
d) Israel hospital says ‘I have moderated his bad behavior a little bit
e) Washington says ‘he is irreparable bad guy’.

All these are jocks. And I don’t give them any credit.

9Dear president years ago you want to Singapore for democracy injection. Did you get or
you are still lacking?

Here we don’t suffer from democracy’s bankruptcy. If we want we can export to neighboring
countries.

10Dear president thanks to your good governance, Eritrea is in marathon event:

a) The people flee from the dictator
b) The dictator flees from the constitution
c) The devil flees from the cross
d) The gazelle flees from the cheetah

But I have never seen a single tortoise fleeing from me.

The second part of the interview

11 Dear president good morning, Allow me to begin our second day of interview with the
following question. All your plans or projects or ideas, etc. they crash before leaving the
ground. For this the Eritrean people say ‘’ the law of Iseias is born in the morning, gets sick at
noon, and evening die away’’. Why is that?

Eritrea is a nation loaded with hidden scandals produced by internal and external enemies. So
no wonder in a country where there are many devils.

12 It is proved and you have admitted that you were the cause of the Eritrean-Ethiopian
border conflict. As result more than 100,000 Eritreans and Ethiopians died. As usual you
remained without being held accountable for your actions. But do you think that one day you
will appear in the international court of human rights?
Laugh, … After all who are these guys? Are you talking about the guys who have already
lost their teeth on the fight with my friend al-Bashir President of Sudan? Do you want me to
update it? I guess your idea is not bad.
13Dear president you have started to build a warm relationship with some countries. To do
this I wonder how much metric tons of charcoal Herman Cohen gave you.

We don’t need any heat. Here in Massawa in addition to the heat of the sun we have enough
gas heaters.

14 The almost have century old chain of lies story have devastated Eritrea and its people.
Do you think that CIA is behind this crime?
3

Which crime? Go and ask CIA.

15 Dear president the Eritrean football stadiums, including of Asmara, are rented to Qatar
for its FIFA World Cup scheduled to take place in 2022. As result of this we already knew that
the Eritrean football teams are embracing freezing. How is achieved this illegal agreement?

Eritrean has no football teams. We can’t say football teams for those who are financed and
manipulated by foreigners.

16According to the critics the following are pillars of your dictatorship:

a) The annihilation of the fighters democratic movement of 1973 in Sahl
b) The expulsion of Osman Saleh Sabbe
c) A deadly crackdown on ESNA (Eritrean Students in North America)
d) ELF in total disarray
e) Putting Romadan Mohammed Nur beyond political scene
f) The subjugation of G13 and 15
g) The abolishing of private newspapers
h) The closure of Asmara University … So what is you judgment?

I wonder how you are able to produce such crooked ideas? I advice you to think something
that helps heal your brain.

17Dear Iseyas Eritrean and its people were not expecting to see you as a dictator?
Describe to me where went wrong?

I wonder who managed to manipulated you into his own ends.

18Here is another question. We know that the obelisk return from Italy to Ethiopia after 68
years took place on 25 April, 2005. But the human skeleton builders of this obelisk taken by
Enno Littmann expedition 110 plus years ago from Eritrea did not. Tell me why they are
continuing to be where they are?

What human skeletons? Are you talking about deceased Naizgi Kflu?

The third part of the interview

19 Whom do you trust most in your front or party of government?

I don’t trust anybody including myself because I lost faith in humanity.

20Time is ticking, where do you see yourself in coming years?

a) in holy water
b) To be retired ነበረ አብ ፐንስዮነ essere in pensione
c) In Zimbabwe
d) in one of your Eritrean prison institutions

I will go nowhere. But I would like to hear yours if you have any.

21 Martin Niemöller says:

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade
unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Martin’s history of dismay (ትክካዘ) and regret (ጣዕሳ) has something to do with history of any
Eritrean of today. But that doesn’t include you. Talk to me why it doesn’t?

22 Dear president to whom serves more you left legacy?
a) To your henchmen (=አግልገልቲ/መገልገልቲ)
b) To your son
c) To the opposition who call themselves
= cowshed or stable of opposition.
d) To the Ethiopian opposition fronts you made

Please tell me why you are interested in this opportunity? If you are waiting it will be too long
for you to have it.
23A bad ideas have divided and broke Eritrea. And it is natural that good ideas that unite
and reform Eritrea will rise from the ashes of those bad ideas. So Eritrea has a bright future.
What is your opinion on this positive future?

The bottom line is in my way I am not a man who prays not to see bright future of Eritrea.

24Dear president here is to give a bunch of gift flowers for principles of good governance in
Eritrea or in Ethiopia. As you know Eritrea is a country with many ports but without a single
ship, one of the biggest refugee producing countries …But Ethiopia a landlocked country has
many ships and is passing her imports and exports through Red Sea. Losing Eritrean coast
has not stopped Ethiopia developing its shipping.

I don’t give …because it can be potential source of unwanted huge political debate.

25 Dear president could you take me into the area where man can breathe a bit of freedom
in Eritrea?

Did you enjoy the feast, dance, polenta/ገዓት, drink …last night?

26Dear president the Eritrean train and littorina (for passengers) are sent to Sawa for
compulsory military service in 1995. Are they fled away and gone? And if the answer is no
when will they return to resume rail transport again?

They will return very soon because we have a new giant tortoise speed plan.

27Dear president critics say that terrorism, corruption and extortion are the business of your
government. What is your response?

This is incorrect. Don’t you see what my government is contributing to the Saudi Arabian-led
intervention in Yemen? Without my help I am sure that they can’t bend terrorism, corruption and
extortion.

28Dear president we arrived at point where interview ends. It will be always historic. I thank
you very much = ፍትዊ ፕረሲደንተ አነ አመስግነካ ብዙሕ
5

It was my pleasure talking to you
