Project name : Lara Super Thermal Pov.rer Project

Project setting up by : NTPC LTD.

Lara Super Thermal Pov.rer Project was conceived as a coal based pov.rer plant of
4000 MW ultimate capacity for Vt'hich First Stage Site Clearance was accorded by
Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOE F) in March' 2006.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between NTPC Limited

and Govt. of Chhattisgarh on 12.07.2009 to establish 4000 MW (5x800 MW) coal
based pov.rer project near Lara village in Raigarh Distt. of Chhattisgarh.

The Steam Generator (SG), Steam Turbine-Generator (STG) and Electrostatic

Precipitator (ESP) package of the subject project is being executed under separate
package by Mis Doosan Pov.rer Systems India Pvt. LTD. (DPSIL), MIs BGR Energy
Systems LTD. and Mis BHEL.

1.02.00 LAND

Adequate land comprising of barren and private agriculture land yielding single crop
is available to acoommodate large capacity thermal power plant. State Investment
Promotion Board, Govt. of Chhattisgarh vide letter dated 11.11.09 accorded in-
principle land availability clearance for 3500 acres for ultimate stage of the project.

1.03.00 WATER

Make up water requirement for Lara STPP, Stage-I (2xBOO MIN) would be about 5700
cum/hr """';th ash water recirculation system and about 7000 cum/hr """';th once through
ash water system.

The water source is Mahanadi river which is f1o"""';ng at a distance of approx. 10 Kms
from the site towards south. Application has already been submitted for 150 Cusecs
of water to the State Govt. for necessary water commitment for the project.

A closed cycle cooling water system using Induced Draft cooling towers is proposed
for the project.

1.04.00 Coal Quality Parameters I Fuel Oil Characteristics & Plant Water details:

(A) The coal quality parameters and Fuel oil Characteristics are indicated in Table- 1
& Table-2 respectively below.

Source: The partly ooal requirement of Lara STPP shall be met from Talaipalli ooal
blocks (Mand- Raigarh ooalfields) and balance from Pakri Barwadih coal blocks
allotted to NTPC.
