ABSTRACT

To control the speeding in motor vehicles on busy and accident prone areas a device is
mandatory to avoid vehicle accidents due to over speeding. Commonly road humps are laid at
service road junctions. Speed humps are used in locations where very low speeds are desired and
reasonable. Speed humps are typically placed on residential roads. Humps are less aggressive
than speed bumps at low speeds and are used on actual streets, as opposed to bumps which are
primarily placed in parking lots.

Depending on the speed of the vehicle and the distance to the speed breakers on road to any
vehicle, the device indicates the driver about the hump through embedded system feedback. The
feedback to the driver will generally indicate the presence of the hump and proximity of the
obstacle. In this project the proximity sensors are used to detect the humps present in the road.
So many types of proximity sensors are available, but here we will use the sensor which can
detect the object based on the height of the objects.

Sensor will detect the hump at about 100m distance from the vehicle. Once the hump is detected
the feedback to the driver is in form of audible beeps or tunes. Generally, the frequency of the
beep indicates distance from an obstructer with the beeps becoming faster, the closer the vehicle
moves towards speed humps without controlling the pace of driving speed. So that then driver
can control the speed of the vehicle.
