Essay

Evil is usually defined as the opposite or absence of good. We have created a concept of
what is good and bad by the terms of society. If someone kills or lies is believed he or she
is a bad person and think the responsible for this actions is the Devil, but just for an instant,
why don’t we focus on ourselves? Think that the problem is within ourselves. We decide
every day what we are going to do and that actions define us, we have the power to
choose every day whether to do something bad or good, to help or to do nothing.
People usually put their comfort first, therefore when they face a bad situation, people tend
to do nothing. A key example is poverty, we see everyday people in the streets, starving,
trying to keep up with their lives with the few things they have, and we just pretend they
don’t exist, another is when someone sees a robbery, and the robber see you as well, most
people do nothing and just keep going, as nothing happen, because of fear. In this situation
evil persists, people let this endure by doing nothing.
When evil rears its ugly head, people should stand strong, think twice before doing or
saying something, to prevent for doing anything bad. Also if we see someone doing
something bad we should stop it at any circumstance, and help if anyone needs it, because
it is worse if we do nothing.
In conclusion, evil is everywhere, in every situation we face, in every action we make, but
we get to decide if we let it be, or we fight against it. We should think about the people that
surround us, and don’t let our own interest lead us, instead we should help those who re in
need, to prevent evil from spreading.
