Plate heat exchangers are commonly used in hygienic

applications as well as in chemical processing and other
industrial applications. Pertinent information on plate exchangers
from a designer's point of view is summarized to provide a basic
insight into performance behavior of chevron plates. Basic design
methods are presented and a method of coupling between heat
transfer and pressure drop is introduced. A step by step design
procedure for rating and sizing problems is outlined.
