The Minutes of the First Committee Meeting of Perhentian Kecil Project Held in the Anjung Depan Room at

9.00 a.m. on 27th May 2010

Present:

Miss Junaidah Binti Kassim – Chairman

Miss Siti Rohani Binti Mohd Rosnan
Miss Noorul Su’aidah Binti Ayob
Mr. Zulhasrul Bin Muhidin – Secretary

1. Greeting and opening

The meeting was called to order at 9.00 a.m. by the Chairman, Miss. Junaidah. She thanked everyone for making
the time in such short notice.

2. Briefing on Perhentian Kecil Project

The chairman briefed the committee on the latest investment to be made by Suria Holding Sdn. Bhd. Which was
the Perhentian Kecil Project. The committee was informed that the approximate cost of the project was RM500
million.

3. Report on Current State of Perhentian Kecil Island

Miss Siti Rohani reported that the Perhentian Besar Island is approximately 21 k off the shores of kuala
Terengganu and only accessible by boat. The island is surrounded by white sandy beach and crystal clear water
which is host to a wide variety of coral, sea-turtles, jellyfish, small sharks and reef-fish. The islands’ maximum
elevation is about 100 m (328 ft) and they are covered in coastal tropical jungle. There are few interior foot-trails
but no roads. Perhentian Kecil Island still depends on diesel generators for its electrical power. Fresh water is
provided by the springs found in the interior. The island is truly an ‘escape’ from the modern day living. Its
protected status has required any development projects to be minimal in environmental impact. Currently the
island has as many as 20 chalets like accommodation with no building higher than 2 storeys.

4. Suggestion of Projects
Miss Siti Rohani suggested that since the island is lacking in five star hotels, it could be a good investment for
Suria Holdings, Miss Noorul Su’aidah objected to the idea of building a five star hotel in view of the
environmental consequences it would inflict on the small island as well as the costs would exceed the stipulated
budget for this project.

5. Mr. Zulhasrul proposed that the committee be given two months to research the island and its potentials so that
viable business projects could be put forth. This suggestion was seconded by Miss Noorul Su’aidah but the time
frame agreed by all members was reduced to four weeks.
6. Any Other Business
Miss Siti Rohani suggested that each committee member bring a proposal of project with approximate costs and
relevant supporting documents for the next meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 12 noon.
