MOTOR MECHANIC
RAIL has immediate vacancy within the Central Workshop Department for a Motor Mechanic and invites
qualified and experience applicants to apply.

The Motor Mechanic will be responsible to carry out all aspects of mechanical repair and maintenance on
all company equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
 Carry out all types of mechanical repairs with minimum supervision on wide range of RAIL
transport fleet
 To have good theoretical, technical knowledge and practical skills and must enable work to be
carried out rapidly to very high standard
 Be able to control less skilled staff working with him/her ensuring they too also do produce high
work standard
 Must be competent in diagnosing of faults and know usage of all test equipment necessary to
diagnose faults
 Be capable to suggesting ways of overcoming or improving equipment mechanical job failures
 Assist team leaders with hands on training of semi skilled workers and apprentices
 Ensure high safety standard are maintained at all times.

We seek candidates who have served Apprenticeship in the Trade of Motor Mechanic. Possess a
certificate in Motor Mechanic and have at least a Grade 10 or 12 certificate. Have more than 3 years’
experience working in similar field.
