This document summarizes key points from a film about mathematics:
1) It discusses 5 scientists/mathematicians and their contributions: Albert Einstein and his theory of relativity, Pythagoras discovering mathematical relationships in music, Plato believing geometry exists in an ideal world, Aristotle reasoning about falling objects, and Galileo observing mathematical relationships in physics.
2) It lists 5 concepts of mathematics: patterns in nature, time, the Fibonacci sequence in flowers, geometry in shapes, and the use of mathematics in technology and digital representation.
3) It identifies patterns and technology as two math concepts significant in everyday life, noting their role in routines and digital devices.
4) When asked if math is discovered

4) When asked if math is discovered
1. Give 5 scientists/ mathematicians and their contribution mentioned in the film.
Albert Einstein – He wondered, “How is it possible that mathematics does so well in explaining the universe as we see it?” The main reason for the revival of math can be traced back to him and his relativity theories. Pythagoras – He explored the affinity between mathematics and music. He discovered that musical relationships were also mathematical relationships by measuring the lengths of the vibrating strings. Plato – He believed that geometry and mathematics exist in their own ideal world. He identified 5 solids and assigned each one of them to one of the elements of the world as he saw it. His forms were the ideal version of the world around us, and they existed in their own realm. Aristotle – He taught us that heavier objects fall faster than lighter ones. He reasoned that the rate at which things would fall was proportional to their weight. Galileo Galilei – The mathematical relationship that Galileo observed is a mathematical expression of the physics of our universe. He later wrote “The universe is written in the language of mathematics.” 2. Write at least five concepts and uses of math. The elements of a pattern repeat in a predictable manner. It is a concept of math that is seen in nature. We gazed at stars and discovered patterns we call constellations. Days turn to night and back to day, seasons as they come and go, we call that pattern “time”. Mathematics can be seen all throughout nature. The relationship between the petals of flowers and math is the Fibonacci Sequence. The number of petals on a flower only spawn in numbers found in the sequence. Geometry can also be seen in swirl patterns. Almost everything that we encounter has its own shape and size. Technology. Mathematics is used for everything digital. The entire digital world is built on mathematics using binary. Every pixel, every letter, is represented as a number and calculated with mathematics. Numbers. Mathematics is also used in applying measurements and rules on a physical object. 3. From #2, choose 2 math concepts that are applicable or significant in your everyday life. The first concept that is significant to my daily life would be pattern. Patterns are all around us and they help everyone understand the order of an everyday life. For me, I follow a routine that constitutes what I do everyday, repeatedly, for a certain period of time. This includes everything I do on a daily basis. I wake up in the morning, prepare for school, attend my classes, come home, do my assignments, then go to bed. Sometimes I can allot time for entertainment. The second would be technology, nowadays it is no secret that we all depend on technology. Everything that is done through a computer, a cellphone, or anything that is programmed has mathematics all over it. Every photo we take, everything we see on screen, every message we send and receive follows a process wherein mathematics is involved. 4. Is Mathematics discovered or invented? If you were to ask simply if mathematics is invented or discovered, we remember that there is the possibility of it being a combination of inventions or discoveries. Personally, I think that mathematics cannot be invented, because all of the things that they came up with have existed since the beginning of time.
