Who are the Blackfoot people?


 The Blackfoot Confederacy, also known as the Blackfoot Nation
or Siksikaitsitapi, is a First Nations group here in Canada.
 The Confederacy’s traditional territory spans parts of southern
Alberta and Saskatchewan, as well as northern Montana.

Why is it important to learn about Blackfoot culture?


 Here in Calgary, we live on Treaty 7 land which is traditionally
and ancestrally Blackfoot territory.
 It is important to acknowledge the Treaty 7 nations: the Piikani,
Siksika, Kainai, Nakoda and Tsuut’ina First Nations.
