SPMT's are modular trailers that can be mounted to each other so that itis possible to make any configuration necessary for transporting a load of any size and. weight. SPMT's are not pulled by a tractor like conventional trailers, but they are equipped with a Power ack Unit which provides the propulsion. The SPMT's come in modules of 4 axle lines or 6 axle lines. The SPMT's are easy to mobilize and to assemble, Mammoet operates two brands of SPMT: Kamag and ‘Scheuerle. Both brands can be operated together in any kind of configuration. Each SPMT configuration can be driven by one single operator. Therefore he has the availabilty of a portable remote control with clear instrumentation. The steering is done by programmable electronically controlled multidirectional steering. Complete structures can be positioned to the millimetre, ‘The SPMT's are equipped with an hydraulic jack suspension system.
