Mechanical Engineering Plant Tour 2018

Last December 2018, we, the Mechanical Engineering students had 3-day plant tour and inspection in
Central and North Luzon together with the faculty members.
o December 3, 2018 : Monday

Ϟ 6:00 am
On the first day, we gathered in the capitol area of Balanga, Bataan and started the trip at about 6:00 am
in the morning.

Ϟ 7:00am - 8:20 am
While we travel, Mr.Edgy, our tour guide, discussed about some historical memories of Bataan
until we arrived at our first destination, the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant at the time of 7:25 am. We
entered the plant around 8:20 as the guards allowed us to.

Ϟ 8:30am - 11:00 am
We had our plant briefing in the conference room, 8:30, and after that, 9:25am, we started to
walk and had our picture taking before entering the Nuclear Power Plant itself. We were lectured about
the history of the Power Plant and how it works while showing us the inside and parts of it guided by
Mr. Torres. The students are grouped into two to maximize the space and time. Mr. Torres, one of the
BNPP’s operator and plant keeper, guided us inside the plant and discussed every single equipment we
did see. We left the BNPP and started the ride going to Subic to have our lunch.
Ϟ 12 noon – 3:00 pm
After having our lunch, we went straight ahead of our next destination, the NCC. Because of the
long ride, we did not manage to arrive at the right time for our schedule of plant visit at the Northern
Cement Corp. We arrived there past 3 o’clock in the afternoon, an hour late of the scheduled time, but
still the company lets us see the facility they had after the orientation with Engr. Christopher together
with his fellow co-workers.
Ϟ 4:00 pm
We are still being oriented and lectured by the engineers and had some mini games with some
prizes to freshen us up. By 4:47pm, we have entered the Plantation and started the tour.

Ϟ 5:00 pm
The operators showed us the process of packaging cements. Two types of sacks are included
with the first one being able to hold 40 kilograms of cement and the other one is able to hold about 25
times larger than the first one. After quite some time, we completed the inspection and left the plant.

Ϟ 5:38 pm
We left the Plantation and went straight to Baguio City to rest at the hotel (Hotel Henrico Kisad)
Ϟ 7:00 pm
We had our dinner at the hotel.
Ϟ 8:00 pm
Me with my three other classmates since high school visited our classmate studying in the City.
We had some fun at their Boarding house.

The next day is for side trips for the students to have fun. We visited different places the whole day.
o December 4, 2018 : Tuesday

Ϟ We woke up early in the morning and had our breakfast at the hotel. By 7:07am, we left the hotel and
went to the strawberry farm at La Trinidad, Benguet. We arrived at the farm by 7:52am.
Ϟ 8:00 am
We spent our early morning of the second day of the trip in the Strawberry Farm from 8-9.
Ϟ 9:00 am
We are still at the strawberry farm enjoying the last minutes taking pictures and eating strawberry
ice cream before leaving. The next stop is The Mansion where we’re just chilling out there taking pictures
of us and the beautiful views for around thirty minutes from 9:45 am.
Ϟ 10:00 am
We are preparing to leave The Mansion and go straight to Mines View. By 10:36am, we arrived
at the Mines View where we took a lot of pictures and also bought some souvenirs like some succulent
plants and seeds.
Ϟ 11:00 am
Enjoying our last minutes taking pictures and buying some things. By 11:16am, we started to
travel back to Hotel Henrico Kisad where we are going to take our lunch. By 11:44am, we arrived at the
hotel and took our lunch.

Ϟ 12:00 pm
We enjoyed our lunch and then made our last preparation to leave going to Vigan. By 12:48pm,
we started to travel straight to Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

Ϟ 1:00 pm
We are on the road exiting Baguio City and traveling down the province of Benguet. Some sing at
the bus while some started to sleep to our very long journey.

Ϟ 2:00 pm
Arriving at the roads of Ilocos Region, our guide started to discuss about the people, sights and
things regarding Ilocos region.

Ϟ 3:00 pm
We are still at the road going to Vigan while watching movies and some are sleeping.

Ϟ 4:00 pm

We are still at the road going to Vigan while watching movies and most are sleeping.

Ϟ By 5:47pm, some can’t hold their “pee” anymore so we stopped by the road on a small toilet.
Amazingly, the other side of the road’s view was a very beautiful sunset on the sea so some went down
the bus and took some pictures. Then finally by 6:20pm we arrived at Vigan City and by 9:21pm we
checked-in at Hotel Collado.

o December 5, 2018 : Wednesday

Ϟ We woke up early in the morning and had our breakfast at the hotel. By 7:20am, we left the hotel and
went to Paoay.

Ϟ 8:00 am
We are on our way to Paoay Church or the San Agustin Church of Paoay while having some
facts about it from our tour guide. By 8:06am, we had our stop by at the gasoline station and had some
gas for the bus.
 9:00 am
We are had our picture taking and prayed at the Paoay Church or the San Agustin Church. By
9:23am, we started to travel to Paoay Sand Dunes Adventures.
 10:00 am
We arrived at the Paoay Sand Dunes Adventures. We didn’t wasted our chances to experience
the thrilling sand dunes 4x4 ride and the unlimited sand boarding. Unfortunately, Ms. Mai-mai didn’t
want that to happen for some reason so she called all the students before the sand boarding starts.
 11:00 am
We left the sand dunes and went to another venue where we had are lunch. By 11:07am, we had
our lunch at Culili and then had our preparations before leaving.
 12:00 pm
We started our travel straight to the Solar and Wind Farm at Ilocos Norte. The tour guide
discussed some facts and trivia about the place and people of the place.
 1:00 pm
We are still at the road to the Solar and Wind Farm. By 1:41pm, we arrived at the orientation
area and waited for the engineer that will orient us.

 2:00 pm
We are still waiting for the engineer that will orient us. By 2:28pm, we were informed that
unfortunately we will not be oriented because there was some problems that the engineer had to
prioritize so we went straight to the Wind Mills. By 2:36pm, we arrived at the Wind Mills and took
some pictures.
 3:00 pm
We went to the Solar Farm area just near the first area and also took some pictures. By 3:42pm,
we started to prepare to travel back to Vigan for the final stroll and picture taking.
 4:00 pm
We are on our way back To Vigan. Some are watching movies while some are starting to sleep.
 5:00 pm
We are still on the road back to Vigan and almost everyone is asleep.
 By 6:49pm, we arrived at the “pasalubong” area where we got our orders. It is night time when we
arrived at Vigan City to have dinner and to buy some more “pasalubong”. By 9:08pm, we left Vigan and
start to travel back in Bataan. We had a stopover at Pangasinan for a comfort break by 1:12am. We
arrived at Plaza of Balanga City, Bataan at 3:17 and we had our staffs and head back to our houses.

 We all really had some fun and new knowledges and we hope to have more of travels like this in the future
where we will be having more fun.
