SPECIFICATION

MOTOR-POWERED, CONTINUOUS- FEEDING ALUMINUM CAN CRUSHER

TECHNICAL FIELD

5 The utility model relates to motor-powered, continuous-feeding aluminum can

crusher, but more specifically to an equipment for compressing regular size aluminum
cans into smaller volume by utilizing motor as the source of the power while using slider-
crank mechanism as a motion converter and a piston plate as the crushing component.

10BACKGROUND OF THE UTILITY MODEL

Aluminum can crusher is an equipment designed to compact cans into smaller

pieces for easier storage in waste bins thereby giving you extra space and for its easy
transferring purposes from one place to another. This equipment, as product of a
specialized engineering knowledge for size reduction, is very beneficial on some
15industrial processes specifically on recycling industry.

The currently most favored can crushers in online market are of manual-type, thus
requiring lots of human effort.

The utility model reduces the manual exertion needed, therefore decreases the
energy usage in regards to crushing aluminum cans.

ABSTRACT

Aluminum cans take up a lot of space requiring larger storage areas and trash
bins. The objectives of the study are to provide a machine which is capable of reducing
cans into smaller dimensions specifically ranging from 30 mm to 40 mm, to test its
10effectiveness compared to manual crushing in terms of number of cans being crushed and
its cost. The project aims to design, fabricate, and test the aluminum can crusher within
three months.

The study is delimited to three subjects; operation is suitable only for regular
sized aluminum cans, availability of materials, and the knowledge and skills of the
15fabricator. The conceptual framework of the study majorly focuses on data gathering of
possible aluminum can parameters and attributes. General factorial design with two
factors and two responses are used.

Timing is the crucial part in obtaining the best results and too much speed results
to inconsistency of crushing cans, too slow speed results to inefficiency of the machine.
20Recommendations include having a low speed motor with increase in motor size, using
different designs for dispenser, having motion sensors for automatic operation and
utilizing higher quality of materials.
