CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?

The field experience involved creating a very comprehensive Multimedia Project. It was a great
way to conclude the class. The structure of the class prepared me thoroughly for all the
components required in the project. It also stretched me as an educator and instructional
technology coach in that it required me to create an artifact that I haven’t in previous times.
Additionally, I had the autonomy to create an artifact that would serve as a tool for the audience I
had in mind. I chose to focus on creating a tool teachers could use to assist in instructional
practices. Often, teachers are asked to create engaging lessons, but don’t have a clear
understanding of how/where to start, what components to include, and how to evaluate if they met
requirements. This is especially true when it is asked that teachers created those types of lessons
and include instructional technology. I wanted to create a tool where teachers were shown step by
step how to create engaging lessons with core components and an easy to navigate platform.

As a technology leader and facilitator, and due to the structure of the assignment, it was important
for me to be familiar with the ISTE Teacher Standards because of the audience I chose. It was also
important to keep in mind students and their needs so that I could provide the proper resource for
the teachers. During the process, I wanted to make sure that I provided the participants with
several tools they could use to be successful as well. Having a list of apps and websites eliminated
teachers having to go and search for themselves. This activity also allowed me realize the
importance of doing the work of educating and staying up to par with the times.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
As a technology leader, it is imperative that you know how to design effective lessons utilizing
appropriate technology integration. As a technology leader, you must also know your audience
and what is needed. This way, I could focus on the important pieces and give the lesson direction.
I also had to have a clear understanding of the three main pieces and how they enhanced
instruction. I needed the have the skills to implement each the way they were intended. This way I
could be ready to provide deeper understanding when needed. Thoroughly knowing these
components also would allow me to model exemplars and provide proper feedback.
As a technology leader, you need the skills to unpack information and use it to develop a plan that
is used to meet an overall goal. It is also important to be skillful in appropriate and effective
technology integration so that technology is used purposefully and aligns to the process and go

Disposition- As a technology leader, there are many factors that play a part in making decisions
that best support the goals that are already set in place within the strategic plan. You must keep
students and their achievement at the center. In doing so, creating a vision, conducting the analysis
and developing an action plan becomes beneficial.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?

The impact of the field experience is being anticipated due to the inability to physically implement
it with the teachers at the schools I support. Though it was not yet implemented, the field
experience was piloted with a few teachers. The project will be shared with the teachers in the
elementary school setting, but is suitable for all grade levels. This platform will support teachers
in creating engaging lessons that proper support student learning. It will be beneficial for teachers
to experience a better way to approach technology integration. The impact will be assessed
through the feedback forms that will be sent out at the close of end of a session. I plan to support
with any additional work that will assist the school in meeting any goals.
