PROBLEMS
The Hybrid Links concept arises from the need to
connect the main ecosystems of the sector such as the
Bogotá river, the Thomas van der Hammen Reserve, the
wetlands and the Eastern Hills. This relationship of
elements gives permeable connections to the growth
and development of the new productive dynamics of
the northern zone of Bogota.

El concepto Enlaces Híbridos nace de la necesidad de la

necesidad de conectar los principales ecosistemas del
sector como lo son el rio Bogotá, la Reserva Thomas van
der Hammen, los humedales y los Cerros Orientales.
Esta relación de elementos da conexiones permeables
ante el crecimiento y desarrollo de las nuevas dinámicas

CONCEPT NOTE
The development of the northern area of ​Bogota is linked to
environmental dynamics consolidated by the creation of environmental
axes for the recovery of the Bogotá river and ecological corridors that
revitalize the wetland areas and the reserve, this begins the
consolidation of low impact housing, mixed areas, edge areas for
equipment focused on agricultural activities and areas focused on
training and support for the conservation of these structuring
environmental systems. The recovery of the railroad for the transport
of passengers during the day and of load at night potentiates the
decrease of the load of mobility to the sector, generating the creation
of strategic connections with Chia and Cota.

El desarrollo de la zona Norte de Bogotá, está ligado a unas dinámicas

ambientales consolidadas por la creación de ejes ambientales para la
recuperación del rio Bogotá y corredores ecológicos que revitalizan las
zonas de humedales y de la reserva, esto le da inicio a la consolidación
de vivienda de bajo impacto, zonas mixtas, áreas de borde para
equipamientos enfocados en las actividades agrícolas y zonas
enfocadas a la capacitación y ayuda para la conservación de estos
sistemas ambientales estructurantes. La recuperación de la vía férrea
para el transporte de pasajeros en el día y de carga por la noche
potencializa el decrecimiento de la carga de movilidad al sector,
generando la creación de conexiones estratégicas con Chía y Cota.

GENERAL PROPOSAL
To clean the Río Bogota, it is imperative that we focus on the adjacent
areas to the river. We are buffering the river by its floodplain and
ensuring that these areas are kept clear of development by providing
recreational open space including running trails, bike paths, and sports
fields. This will ensure that green space can filter runoff and will help
replenish the aquifer.

Overall, we also want to ensure the environmental systems are

connected, thus we propose to connect the Conejera and the Juan
Amarillo wetlands and connect the Salitrosa creek with the Conejera
hills and the Torca and Guaymaral wetland by using the existing
development such as the cemeteries. We will also ensure that this will
not contaminate the water table by improving the coffins that are used
here.

Para limpiar el Río Bogotá, es imprescindible que nos enfoquemos en las

áreas adyacentes al río. Estamos protegiendo el río por su llanura aluvial
y asegurando que estas áreas se mantengan libres de desarrollo
proporcionando espacios recreativos abiertos, incluyendo senderos para
correr, carriles de bici y campos deportivos. Esto asegurará que el
espacio verde pueda filtrar la escorrentía y ayude a reponer el acuífero.

También queremos asegurar que los sistemas ambientales estén

conectados, por lo que proponemos conectar los humedales de Conejera
y Juan Amarillo y conectar el arroyo de Salitrosa el cerro de la Conejera y
el humedal de Torca y Guaymaral utilizando el desarrollo existente como
los cementerios. También nos aseguraremos de que esto no contaminará
la capa freática mejorando el manejo que se le da a estos residuos.

CONNECTION: ECOLOGICAL SYSTEM

 en la zona norte de Bogotá encontramos humedales
importantes para la ciudad de Bogotá que actúan como esponja
pero en busca del desarrollo se plantea una de las vías de
conexión regional mas importante la ALO, al no ser construido
su huella deja un espacio de conexión entre los dos humedales y
así dar espacio a un parque lineal que sirve de eje ambiental y
además de espacio publico.

ANIMALS AND VEGETATION

To ensure that greenhouses don´t contribute to the pollution
of the Río Bogota and damage the environmental systems, we
propose that the greenhouses become consolidated and be
made of wood.. We will enforce regulations that the industry
use only natural pesticides, this ensures that the runoff will
be safer and be less damaging to the environment. These
areas will be integrated into the larger agricultural system.

other main municipalities in the region. We are proposing a
series of strategies and interventions to make this connections
stronger and lower the traffic in the Autopista Norte.

otras áreas. en la Autopista Norte proponemos una Estación
Multimodal que permite a los viajeros intercambiar transportes
entre Transmilenio, Autobuses Municipales y el tren que
consideramos una solución alternativa para la congestión de
tráfico en la Autopista Norte. El ferrocarril se utilizará para
comunicar el centro de Bogotá y la parte norte de la misma, así
como las diferentes regiones al norte de la ciudad. Está previsto
que se utilice como transporte de personas durante el día y
como transporte de carga durante la noche.

As we think about urban development, we must consider different
groups of people who would like to live here. Firstly, we need to ensure
that basic services can be provided in the neighborhood so that
residents do not have to travel to Bogota for everything. Therefore, we
propose mixed use neighborhoods. Near the Río Bogota, we ensure that
the uses are low impact and there is more green space to ensure runoff
is filtered before entering the river. We also propose a site and services
development that is more dense and can be expanded in the future as
growth occurs. We will zone the area to ensure legitimacy in any
enterprises that develop here. Finally, we ensure that areas near the
Van der Hammen reserve are left open with only educational and
recreational uses allowed here.

A medida que pensamos en el desarrollo urbano, debemos considerar los

diferentes grupos de personas que quisieran vivir aquí. En primer lugar,
necesitamos asegurar que los servicios básicos puedan ser
proporcionados en el barrio propuesto para que los residentes no tengan
que viajar a Bogotá para todo. Por esto, proponemos un barrio de uso
mixto. En segundo lugar, cerca del Río Bogotá, proponemos usos de bajo
impacto y más espacio verde para asegurar que la escorrentía se filtre
antes de entrar en el río, también proponemos equipamientos que se
puedan ampliar en el futuro a medida que el crecimiento se produce.

URBAN DEVELOPMENT LAND USE

In order to ensure that development does not encroach upon
areas that have been designated as protected, we propose
that the edge conditions between urban development and
green spaces are used by stakeholders who aim to preserve
this space as well. We propose that these groups take
stewardship over the environment, for example: educational
institutions with motives to preserve the environment, churches
who own open spaces, and recreational facilities will prevent
sprawl. There are already 51 schools in the area, we hope to
encourage these already existing institutions to encourage
students to help restore the wetlands and protect the
environment.
Con el fin de garantizar que el desarrollo no invada áreas que han
sido designadas como protección ecológica, proponemos que las
condiciones de borde entre el desarrollo urbano y los espacios
verdes sean utilizados por las partes interesadas que pretenden
preservar este espacio también. Proponemos que estos grupos
tomen la iniciativa de cuidar el medio ambiente, por ejemplo: las
instituciones educativas con motivos para preservar el medio
ambiente, las iglesias que poseen espacios abiertos y las
instalaciones recreativas evitarán la expansión. Hay 51 colegios en
la zona, esperamos animar a estas instituciones para alentar a sus
estudiantes a ayudar a restaurar los humedales y proteger la
reserva.
