Course Desciption: A study of the concepts and general principles of succession, kinds
of succession (testamentary, legal or intestate, and mixed succession), kinds of heirs,
legitime and collation, principles affecting the legitime (preterition, reserua troncal,
reserua adoptioa, disinheritance) and the freely disposable portion (institution and
substifution of heirs), principles corunon to testamentary and legal succession, as well
as partition and distribution of the estate of the decedent.

Teaching Methods/Strate gies

Class recitations will basically be employed to determine whether the student

read and understood the provisions of the law and the decisions of the Supreme Court.
Qttizzes, announced or unannounced, will also be administered to check the
comprehension and analysis of the students. Lectures and visual aids may be used
when applicable. Additional cases andf or reading assignments may be assigned if
necessary.
