Ο Ευάγγελος Ασημακόπουλος σπούδασε

κιθάρα στο Εθνικό Ωδείο με τον Δημήτρη

Φάμπα. Πήρε το Δίπλωμα του το 1960 με
Α΄ Βραβείο παμψηφεί και ‘Αριστείο
Εξαιρετικής Επιδόσεως’ ενώ λίγο
αργότερα παρακολουθεί με υποτροφία για
τέσσερις συνεχείς περιόδους μαθήματα με
το ντούο Πρέστι – Λαγκόγια στη Γαλλία
και με τον Αντρές Σεγόβια στην Ισπανία.
Από το 1959 δίνει πολυάριθμα ρεσιτάλ σε
όλη την Ελλάδα ενώ το 1965 νυμφεύεται
τη Λίζα Ζώη και μαζί καθιερώνουν το
πρώτο στην χώρα μας ντουέτο κιθάρας
που στις μέρες μας θεωρείται από τα
κορυφαία στον κόσμο.
Οι δύο Έλληνες καλλιτέχνες δεν έχουν αποσπάσει μόνο τα εγκωμιαστικότερα σχόλια από
εφημερίδες κύρους όπως οι New York Times, Daily Telegraph, Paris Matin, Chicago Sun, Los
Angeles Times, El Sol de Mexico, κ.α., αλλά και την εκτίμηση του μεγάλου Andrés Segovia,
που με ιδιόχειρη αφιέρωσή του αναφέρει: "Από τότε που η Μοίρα σκληρά μας αποστέρησε τους
Presti-Lagoya, δεν είχα ποτέ την ευχαρίστηση να ακούσω κάποιο εφάμιλλο ντουέτο. Αλλά
αργότερα, όταν οι ταλαντούχοι Έλληνες κιθαριστές Ευάγγελος και Λίζα έπαιξαν για μένα, ένιωσα
απόλυτη ικανοποίηση και χαρά. Τους εύχομαι ολόψυχα να κατακτήσουν την υψηλή εκτίμηση του
κοινού, όπως κατέκτησαν και την δική μου!”.
Η Διεθνής σταδιοδρομία του Ευάγγελου Ασημακόπουλου αρχίζει το 1967. Από τότε μαζί με τη
γυναίκα του πραγματοποιεί εκτεταμένες περιοδείες ανά τον κόσμο, δίνοντας εκατοντάδες
κονσέρτα στις γνωστότερες αίθουσες συναυλιών, περιλαμβανομένων του Carnegie Hall, του
Queen Elizabeth Hall, της Concertgebouw, του Wigmore Hall, του Théâtre de la Ville, του
Lincoln Center και του Ηρώδειου. Παίζει επίσης σε Ραδιοφωνικούς και Τηλεοπτικούς σταθμούς
- BBC, Παρίσι RTVF, Βρυξέλλες, Μαδρίτη, Κολωνία, Βερολίνο κ.α. - καθώς και σε μεγάλα
Φεστιβάλ μεταξύ των οποίων της Νέας Υόρκης, της Βοστόνης, της Αμβέρσας, του
Άμστερνταμ, της Ρώμης, του Μεξικού και των Αθηνών. Συμπράττει ακόμη ως σολίστ με
γνωστές συμφωνικές ορχήστρες, όπως του Μόντρεαλ, του Μίσιγκαν, του Σινσινάτι, του
Μπέρμιγχαμ και διδάσκει σε Σεμινάρια και Master Classes σε φημισμένες μουσικές Ακαδημίεs
και Πανεπιστήμια: The Juilliard School, The Royal Academy of Music, The Royal College of
Music, UCLA, Stony Brook University, Mannes College of Music κ.α.
Εκτός από τις Ακαδημίες και τα Πανεπιστήμια του εξωτερικού, η Λίζα Ζώη και ο Ευάγγελος
Ασημακόπουλος έχουν διδάξει σε αναρίθμητα σεμινάρια στις κυριότερες πόλεις της Ελλάδας,
ενώ Master Classes εξακολουθούν να πραγματοποιούν και στο Φεστιβάλ Κιθάρας στην Πάτρα,
ένα φεστιβάλ που διοργανώνουν από το 1992 και έχει γίνει πλέον θεσμός αφού αποτελεί ένα από
τα σημαντικότερα κιθαριστικά δρώμενα στην Ελλάδα και ένα από τα μακροβιότερα διεθνώς.
Στο ντουέτο Evangelos & Liza αφιέρωσαν έργα τους Έλληνες και ξένοι συνθέτες, ενώ παράλληλα
οι δύο καλλιτέχνες εμπλούτισαν το ρεπερτόριο για μια και δύο κιθάρες με πολλές μεταγραφές
τους πολλές από τις οποίες κυκλοφορούν σε δίσκους και CDs από γνωστές εταιρείες (ΕΜΙ
Classics, Philips, Edici, Legend).
Τέλος στα 50 χρόνια διδασκαλίας του, ο Ευάγγελος Ασημακόπουλος έχει δημιουργήσει μία σχολή
εκλεκτών κιθαριστών που διαπρέπουν στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό.
Evangelos Assimakopoulos studied the guitar in Athens at the National Conservatoire
under Dimitris Fampas. He completed his degree in 1960 and was unanimously awarded
First Prize and the Medal for Outstanding Performance. Shortly afterwards he was
awarded a scholarship to study with the Presti-Lagoya duo in France and Andrés Segovia
in Spain.
Since 1959 Evangelos Assimakopoulos has given many solo recitals throughout Greece.
In 1965 he married guitarist Liza Zoe and together they established Greece’s first guitar
duo. Today they are considered to be one of the leading guitar duos in the world.
Not only have the two Greek musicians been acclaimed by major newspapers, including
The New York Times, Daily Telegraph, Paris Matin, Chicago Sun, Los Angeles Times
and El Sol de Mexico, but they also earned the esteem of the great Andrés Segovia
himself, who wrote: “Since Fate cruelly deprived us of Presti - Lagoya, I no longer had
the pleasure of listening to any similar duo. But lately, when the talented Greek guitarists
Evangelos and Liza played for me, I felt complete satisfaction and enjoyment. I cordially
wish Evangelos and Liza to conquer the high esteem of the public as they have conquered
mine!”
Since 1967 the couple has carried out extensive tours all over the world and given
hundreds of recitals in some of the most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall,
Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall, Le Théâtre de la Ville,
Lincoln Center and the Herodion. They have also performed for many radio and
television stations (the BBC, Paris RTVF, Brussels, Madrid, Cologne, Berlin etc.) and
taken part in major Festivals in, among other places, New York, Boston, Antwerp,
Amsterdam, Rome, Mexico and Athens.
They also appear as duo soloists with well known symphony orchestras such as those of
Montreal, Michigan, Cincinnati and Birmingham, as well as teaching seminars and
holding Master-classes at universities and academies overseas including The Juilliard
School, The Royal Academy of Music, The Royal College of Music, UCLA, Stony
Brook University and Mannes College of Music.
In addition to their activities in foreign Academies and Universities, Liza Zoe and
Evangelos Assimakopoulos have given Master Classes in innumerable seminars to the
main cities of Greece as well as at the Guitar Festival of Patras, a famous festival that is
organized by themselves since 1992, and constitutes one of the most important guitar
events of Greece and abroad.
Both Greek and foreign composers have written pieces especially for Evangelos and
Liza; at the same time the two musicians have enriched the guitar solo and duo repertoire
with transcriptions and arrangements of their own that they are recorded on noted record
companies (EMI Classics, Philips, Edici, Legend).
Finally, over his 50 years of teaching, Evangelos Assimakopoulos has established a
school of outstanding guitarists who have made a name for themselves both in Greece
and abroad.
