About IHS

Founded in 2001 by the trio of Issam Darwish, William Saad and Mohamed Darwish, with a strong team of
telecoms engineers in Lagos, Nigeria, IHS is a company specializing in building towers and managing sites for
mobile network operators (MNOs). It is one of Africa’s fastest growing tower operators and maintains operations
in Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Zambia and Rwanda. Following the recent acquisitions of the tower
portfolios of MTN and Etisalat in Nigeria, IHS owns and manages over 23,100 towers in Africa.

IHS operates three customer-centric business models: building its own tower sites and leasing them to
operators; acquiring existing MNO sites and leasing tower space back; taking over the management of
operators networks with an agreement to lease the sites to other operators.

IHS consistently delivers leading performance KPIs in the industry, with uptimes of more than 99.9% on owned
sites even in challenging environments with low grid availability. Some of the MNOs that IHS works with include:
MTN, Orange, Airtel, Etisalat and Millicom.

IHS is heavily involved in bringing broadband internet to the whole of Africa. IHS partners with startup telecom
companies such as Spectranet, Smile and Africonnect to help finance the deployment of their network into
urban areas.

IHS is supported by a group of international shareholders including Emerging Capital Partners, the International
Finance Corporation (IFC - the commercial arm of the World Bank), Wendel, Goldman Sachs, African
Infrastructure Investment Managers, Investec, the IFC’s Global Infrastructure Fund, the Dutch development
finance institution (FMO) and the Singapore sovereign wealth fund, GIC.

IHS continues to make large investments into efficient energy solutions such as solar and wind power and the
monitoring of networks through cutting edge Network Operating Centres which monitor all its operations. IHS
has also launched a variety of green energy projects in the five countries in which it operates.
