1. Launch Inventor if it is not already open.
2. Begin a new part file using the Part-IN.ipt template from the New File dialog box.
3. Open a sketch on the XY plane and create Sketch1 as shown in Figure A.

4. Fully revolve the sketch using the axis shown.


5. Open a sketch on the bottom face of the revolved dome and sketch the spline shown in
Sketch2 in Figure B.

6. Surface-extrude the spline 2″ up through the dome.


7. Shell the revolved dome .1″.

8. Create a work plane by picking the outer face of the revolved dome and the default YZ
plane.
9. Sketch the rectangles shown in Sketch3 using vertical constraints to fully constrain the
sketch, as shown in Figure C.

10. Cut-extrude the sketched rectangles to the surface extrusion. The final part should look
like the part shown in Figure D.

11. Save the part as EX13-5.ipt.


12. Keep Inventor open for the chapter test and problems, or exit if necessary.
