Gauge
Gauge is not essential for this project.
Special technique
Adjustable ring: Make a large
loop with yarn leaving a 4" tail.
With hook, draw the working yarn
through the loop; ch 1, follow the
pattern instructions from here. Once
5 rnd of sts is 6
the first complete, pull
tail snug to close the ring.
Notes
When changing color, stop just
before completing the last st in
the old color (2 loops on hook).
Complete st with new color, then
proceed as directed.
Unless otherwise directed, work rnds
continuously, do not join. Mark end
of rnds and move marker as work
progresses.

Flatten tail, sew closed seam edge
to back of neck. Sew edges of tail
down along back of body. Sew wings
in place.
Sew twig to lower belly of bird with
a double strand of C.
Cut out 1 face patch from black felt
and sew in place. Embroider beak
with C. Attach eyes. Add ribbon for
hanger.

Work as for Cardinal, changing to E
after rnd 8.

Flatten tail, sew closed seam edge
to back of neck. Sew edges of tail
down along back of body. Cut out
side patches from orange felt. Sew in
place. Sew wings in place.
Sew twig to lower belly of bird with
a double strand of F.
Cut out 1 face patch from white felt
and sew in place. Embroider beak with
F. Attach eyes. Add ribbon for hanger.
