1. OFFERING

DEFINITION

Offerings are a way to raise capital, which is what


companies need to grow and access cash. If a stock
offering is the first of its kind for a company, this is called
an initial public offering (IPO). It is important to note that
offerings are not limited to stock offerings; bonds and a
variety of other securities also circulate via offerings.

2. SHOCKING NEWS

DEFINITION

Surprised expressions are commonly related to a situation


which makes us disbelieve and have interest expression.
Most English native speakers often use short interrogatives
in speech as a way to express attention, interest, or
surprise. Below is the sample!

• Incredible.
• I am amazed.
3. ASKING FOR ATTENTION

DEFINITION
Asking for attention is when we tell something, for
example information, explanation or a story, we need our
listener pay attention our information. For this we can use
questions to attract your listeners’ attention. Whereas
when we listen to information, explanation or a story, we
can use several expressions to show that we are paying
attention to what is being talked about.

EXAMPLE

• Excuse me, ….
• Sorry to trouble you.
• Sorry to bother you.
4. APPLICATION LETTER

DEFINITION

A letter of application, also known as a cover letter, is a


document sent with your resume to provide additional
information on your skills and experience.

5. FACTUAL REPORT

DEFINITION
Factual report is a report containing the facts, rather than
provide theoretical or personal interpretation. The purpose of
factual report is to present information about something they
generally describes.
When writing a report it is important to remember the followings
point:
1. Purpose – to report events, facts and details in a formal
manner.
2. Structure – use subheading and topic sentences to start
paragraphs. For example : Conclusion Our investigation has
confirmed..
3. Style – concise information and a formal tone.

EXAMPLE • Satay may consist of sliced chicken,


goat, beef, horse and pork even
nowadays satay may also consist of fish,
tofu, tempe and more.
• Those slices then are skewered by a thin
skewer made from bamboo or coconut
palm frond.
6. FACTUAL REPORT

DEFINITION
An Obligation is a course of action that someone is required to
take, whether legal or moral. There are also obligations in other
normative contexts, such as obligations of etiquette, social
obligations, and possibly in terms of politics, where obligations
are requirements which must be fulfilled. These are generally
legal obligations, which can incur a penalty for non-fulfilment,
although certain people are obliged to carry out certain
actions for other reasons as well, whether as a tradition or for
social reasons.

EXAMPLE

• You ought to repair my watch.


• Those shoes should be repaired.
7. FACTUAL REPORT

DEFINITION
The definition of a caption is a heading or title, or words
on a screen that communicate what is being said. An
example of a caption is the title of a magazine article.
An example of a caption is a descriptive title under a
photograph.
