England

83% of the total United Kingdom population its territory occupies most of the
southern two-thirds of the island of G.B. (Great Britain).
It is bordered by Scotland to the north, Wales to the West and the North Sea, Irish Sea,
Celtic Sea, Bristol Channel and English Channel. The capital is London, the largest area in
Great Britain and the largest urban zone in the European Union.
It became a unified state in 927 and takes its name from Angles, one of the Germanic
tribes which settled there during the 5th and 6th centuries.
Wales united with England in 1536 -> The Kingdom of England continued as a
separate state until 1707, when through an Act of Union, the political union with the
Kingdom of Scotland took place. In 1800, Great Britain was united with Ireland through
another Act of Union and became the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
In 1922, the Irish Free State was created (and in 1927 officially established) the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, (which exists today).
Relief rolling hills with a chain of low mountains (the Peunines) dividing east and
west. In the east there is an area of flat marshland, the Fens, much of which has been drained
for agricultural use.
It has a temperate climate, with plentiful rainfall all year round. The best-known river
is the Thames, which is 346 km long, it is the The City of Birmingham, it is the second
largest, after London – the capital of England. Another important cities from England are:
Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle, Bristol, Nottingham and Hull.
