Brothers and sisters, in this day of Good Friday

Each of us are invited to gaze upon the cross.

The cross of Jesus, which symbolizes love and hope.

First of all, love, the cross is a symbol of God’s love to us,

The Love of God which is infinite,
The Love of God to us which does not ask for anything in return.
Despite of our shortcomings and sin.

2nd, the cross of Jesus as symbol of hope,

Hope of all
Despite all the cross we bear in life
God is always with us until the end
God always gives us a chance to turn back to Him and be saved.

Today, there is no symbol which is much greater than the cross of Christ
Christ which is nailed on the cross.
The cross which used to be a symbol of death
Is now a symbol everlasting love and mercy of God to us?

Jesus death on the cross is not a sign of defeat and weakness.

Rather, His dying on the cross is a sign of power.

The power of God’s love, the power of God’s mercy and

The power of God’s sacrifice.

So, we have a cross, from being sign of torture and death

Becomes sign of God’s love and sacrifice.

Brothers and sisters, isn’t it there may be a time our life where
We ask these questions:
Does God love me?
Does God hear my prayers?
Does God remember me?
Will God forgive my sins.

Sometime, it is not easy to answer these questions.

In times, we started to ask these questions,

All we have to do is to gaze upon the cross of Christ.
And from the cross we might get the answers to our questions.

Does God love me, look at the cross.

And while we gaze upon the cross, there might be a reversal of questioning.
There might be a change of perspective.
Instead of asking Does God love me
We may now ask; do I love God?

How much do I love God?

Do I remember Him every day, or only during the holy Eucharist?
Or only during the times of need.

This day of Holy Friday is time to remove our doubts on God.

Remember how much God loves us.
The love he carried, the love he dragged all the way up to the cross of Calvary.

Amen.
