Jewish refugees?!!
The issue of “Jewish refugees” destroys the lie of the “Land of Israel”?

66% of Palestinians who lived in historic Palestine were displaced, according to the United Nations reports in 1950 for the
Palestinian Nakba; that catastrophe that took place in the territory of Palestine and made more than half of the population leave and
stay until today in the countries of asylum. Where are they now? And how did they become?

Palestinian refugees, as part of the
Israeli efforts to avoid recognizing
the right of return of Palestinian
refugees, to try to link the so-
called “Jewish refugees” with the
Palestinian refugee issue and to
place it as a precondition for the
peace process in the Middle East,
in an attempt by the Israeli side
to bring down the legal value of
Palestinian refugees.
This is despite the fact that, in
accordance with the definition of the
United Nations High Commissioner
for Refugees (established on 14th
December 1950 by the United
Nations General Assembly),
refugees are persons fleeing conflict
or persecution in their home
countries, recognized and protected
by international law, and should not
be expelled or returned to situations
endangering their lives and freedom.
According to Israeli law, Jews who
emigrated to Israel were returning
to the land of their parents and
grandparents, meaning that they
were not refugees. In addition,
Israel was carrying out media and
diplomatic campaigns against
countries that were restricting the
immigration of its Jewish citizens
to Israel, especially the group of
socialist countries that were in the
orbit of the former Soviet Union,
and the process of displacement of
the Falasha from Ethiopia through
Sudan, which was a secret operation
and considered by Israel as a heroic
act.
This is the biggest proof of
contradiction in Israeli narratives.
This new campaign contradicts the
official Israeli narrative over the
course of decades that the Jews of
the Arab countries have voluntarily
migrated to Israel for ideological
Zionist motives, which is confirmed
by those responsible for these
operations, as we later prove.
This new fabrication or term (Jewish
refugees) was revealed through
an official document containing
the official position that Tel Aviv
is supposed to present during
the settlement negotiations with
the Palestinians. This is what the
documents, studies and the Hebrew
newspapers have pointed out,
which stressed that this document
is the outcome of an Israeli political
decision by Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu which states that the
problem of (Jewish refugees) from
Arab States must from now on be
a political issue in the negotiations
on a permanent solution with the
Palestinians.
The vivid and wild imagination and
inventive mathematics concluded
that the number of those refugees
calculated from the date of the
partition resolution issued by the
United Nations in November 1947 to
the year 1968, and according to this
criterion, was estimated at 800,000
Jewish refugees compared with 600
to 700 thousand Palestinian refugees
during this period, and the value
of property lost by the Palestinian
refugees in the period amounted to
about $450 million, an estimated
current value of about $3.9 billion,

The document recommended that
Israel not only claim personal
compensation for the so-called
“Jewish refugees” but also claim
compensation for the State of
Israel, which spent resources to
accommodate them during the 1950s
and 1960s.
Accordingly, the Israeli Ministry
of Education set a day to mark the
anniversary of the migration of
oriental Jews from Arab countries to
the occupying State on a day named
“Jews of Arab countries emigration
to Israel.”
The Israeli Ministry, by order of
the Minister of Education, Naftali
Bennett, set November 30th of
each year to commemorate the
anniversary. The aim was to promote
the identity of the Oriental Jews
and their history in the education
programme in Israel. Sunday,
30th November 2016 marked the
first anniversary of the exodus and
displacement of Jews from Arab
countries.
This is the first time Israel has
held a ceremony for this occasion,
Netanyahu said during the ceremony:
“For the first time we pay tribute
to the displacement of hundreds
of thousands of Jews from Arab
countries after the first years of
statehood.”
He added:
“It is no coincidence that we hold
this celebration, one day after the
anniversary of the United Nations
Resolution 181, known as the land
partition decision to two Jewish
and Arab States, which we then

 accepted while the Arab States
rejected it.” Netanyahu’s Facebook
page said.
Netanyahu continued:
“At some time during the
displacement, there were many
persecutions against the Jews, so
we will work for them and will
not forget these Jews and will not
forget their rights.”
Therefore, we devoted the theme
of this edition of Palestine in a

First: Date of the emergence of
the idea according to the Israeli
narrative
In a dangerous precedent and for
the first time in the history of the
international organization and in the
presence of Israeli Deputy Foreign
Minister, Danny Ayalon, the United
Nations agreed to hold a meeting at
its headquarters in New York on 21st
September 2012 to discuss what it
called “allegations” by Jews who
lived in some Arab States that they
were banished on Friday.
The Israeli media expressed an
overwhelming Israeli joy at this
meeting. Israeli sources deemed the
United Nations’ approval of such
a meeting as a recognition of their
rights by stating that the Jews were
banished from the Arab States and
that recognition of them as refugees
is not a moral recognition but a legal
basis, as alleged.
What does this step mean? What are
the real risks? What are the goals
sought by the Zionist entity from
this?
The issue of Jewish refugees in the
Middle East was raised in the 1970s,
and the leading role was played by
former Knesset Member, Mordechai
Ben Porat and others. The first
organization related to the issue
was the World Organization of Jews
from Arab Countries (WOJAC).
At a later stage, the organization
“Justice for Jews from Arab
Countries” JJAC, the organization
that, shortly before the conference
in Nablus (2007), revealed
UN documents showing that
the Members of the League of
Arab States have developed
and implemented a systematic
programme for the suppression and
persecution of Jews in Arab States
following the establishment of the
State of Israel. JJAC demanded,
in light of that, the recognition of
hundreds of thousands of Jews as
refugees, just as Palestinians are
recognized as refugees.
During the peace talks at Camp
David in 2000, President Clinton
announced that if an agreement
was reached, an international fund
would be established to compensate
Arab and Jewish refugees from Arab
countries alike. Israel’s position at
the 2000 Camp David talks was that
“the issue of Jews banished from
Arab States or forced to leave in
the aftermath of the 1948 war or the
Arab-Israeli conflict, and the related
demands, should not be neglected”.
Israel even addressed the issue in its
response to the ideas put forward
by US President Bill Clinton in
December 2000.
The US House of Representatives
adopted President Clinton’s
proposal in April 2008 that Jewish
refugees should be recognized as
refugees under the United Nations
Charter and thus an international
fund should be set up to compensate
Jewish and Palestinian refugees for
loss of their property. That decision
of the House of Representatives
, known as Resolution 185 of the
House of Representatives, stipulated
that the issue of one refugee group
shall not be resolved without solving
the other at the same time. However,
it was thrown aside, to remain on
the sidelines of the international
discourse.

During the Annapolis negotiations
in 2007, then Foreign at the time
Minister Tzipi Livni raised the
problem of Jewish refugees.

of the two-State solution for the
two peoples. In 2006, Netanyahu
has instructed Uzi Arad, Head of
the National Security Command, at
that time, to start preparing for the
resumption of negotiations with the
Palestinians. When he was a senior
researcher at the multidisciplinary,
Herzliya Center, “Arad” coordinated
the work of an academic team on
the political and legal aspects of the
problem of Jewish refugees from
Arab States.
As a national security adviser,
Arad put together a special team
of government representatives
and academic experts to formulate
Israel’s official position on Jewish
refugees from Arab States. Arad
said that he received Netanyahu’s
blessing and appointed Lieutenant
Colonel “Orna Mizrahi” to head
the team. Arad also put “Alon”
in the picture, and included the
Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of
Justice, the Ministry of Finance
and the Ministry of Pensioners’
Affairs. The team’s deliberation
also witnessed the participation
of historians and economists from
academia, representatives of Jewish
organizations such as the World
Jewish Congress and the Jewish
American Justice Organization for
the Jews of the Arab States (JJAC).
The team adds that in previous rounds
of negotiations, Israel responded
only to Palestinian demands and did
not raise demands on its part. “The
Palestinians have made a great effort
to prepare the ground for negotiations
by establishing the narrative of the
plight of the Palestinian refugees in
international discourse” the report
said. They have been able to achieve
broad international recognition of
the need for an appropriate solution
for Palestinian refugees and even
a readiness to help finance the
solution. A former senior official
says that the problem of Jewish
refugees in particular has been
seriously explored in the past.
On 10th February 2010, the case
received an internal recognition in
Israel, where the Knesset; Israeli
parliament, enacted the “Law for
the Preservation of the Right to
Compensation of Jewish Refugees
from Arab Countries and Iran.”
Israel is trying to find a historical
basis for the development of the
issue of Jewish refugees in Arab
States. According to the Israeli
narrative, before the partition plan
was introduced in November 1947,
Arab States led by the League
of Arab States took hostile and
accelerated actions against their
Jewish communities.
After the partition project was laid
down, Arab governments started
seizing Jewish property. At the same
time, the riots and massacres against
the Jewish communities reached all

synagogues and synagogues were
looted and burned, in addition to the
killing of hundreds of Jews and the
imprisonment of thousands.
When Israel became an independent
State in May 1948, the Political
Committee of the League of Arab
States convened to give a series of
recommendations for all Arab and
Islamic countries on how to take an
action against Jews in their countries.
Among these recommendations
were the withdrawal of citizenship
from Jews, making them citizens of
the State of Israel only, which was
newly founded. Their property was
confiscated, their money frozen in
banks and millions of dollars were
nationalized.
The Jews were prevented from
working in ministries, and sever
restrictions were imposed on their
work in government departments,
and many of them lost their source
of income.
Between 1948 and 1951, 850,000
Jews were displaced from Arab
States, either by direct expulsion
or forced to emigrate, to become
refugees. During the period between
the late 1940s and the year 1967,
the vast majority of Jews from Arab
countries were dislodged from the
countries where they were born,
with most of the Jewish communities
in these countries obliterating,
leaving behind a few thousand Jews
scattered in a few cities.
However, historical studies
published in Israel confirm that
most of the Jews who emigrated
from Arab States, especially from
Morocco and Iraq, to Israel after
the establishment of the latter were
under agreements between Israel
and Arab States, although at first
Arab States rejected the exit of Jews
of their lands in most cases.

In the same month, Naeim Khalaschi
Giladi, an Iraqi Jew who was among
the Zionist activists who were tried
in military courts and sentenced to
execution by hanging to death in
1947, was able to manage his escape
to Iran and then to Palestine, arriving
in May 1950.
Soon after, Khalaschi Giladi
revolted against Israel and the
Zionist movement and published
articles and a book in this regard.

Naeim Giladi in 1947
Naeim Giladi, an Arab Iraqi Jew born in
Hillah, south Baghdad in 14th March 1929.
He was a former member of the secret
Zionist movement. He left Iraq to Israel in
May 1950, and took part in the 1967 war.
And later, he voluntarily relinquished his
Israeli citizenship to live in New York and
to become an American citizen.
He self-published a book at his
own expense at $60,000, entitled
“Ben-Gurion’s Scandals: How
the Haganah and the Mossad
Eliminated Jews.” In the book
Giladi exposes countless secrets,
truths, and details. For example,
during the British occupation of
Iraq in the 1940s, British leaders
were behind the riots against Jews
in their neighbourhoods, as a pretext
for them to enter the capital and
overthrow Al-Gaylani’s government
back then.
While his Iraqi wife Rachel cooks
delicious Iraqi food, Giladi says
that “the reason that pushed him
to write the book is to tell the
American people, and especially
American Jews, that Jews from
Islamic lands did not emigrate
willingly to Israel; that, to force
them to leave, Jews killed Jews;
and that, to buy time to confiscate
ever more Arab lands, Jews on
numerous occasions rejected
genuine peace initiatives from
their Arab neighbours.”
Giladi adds,
“I write about what the first Prime
Minister of Israel called “cruel
Zionism. I write about it because
I was part of it.”
Giladi adds,
“A witness of his own folk, I
do not brief what I read or tell
what I heard; I depose trusted
information on what I lived.”
Giladi, who was detained by the
Iraqi forces and tortured using all
forms of torture in Abu Gharib
prison for two days, writes:
“I was disillusioned at what I found
in the Promised Land, disillusioned
personally, disillusioned at
the institutionalized racism,
disillusioned at what I was
beginning to learn about Zionism’s
cruelties, and I began to find out
about the barbaric methods used
to rid the fledgling states of as

many Palestinians as possible.
Jewish forces would empty Arab
villages of their populations,
often by threats, sometimes by
just gunning down a half-dozen
unarmed Arabs as examples to
the rest. However, the Israelis put
typhus and dysentery bacteria into
the water wells to make sure that
Arabs could not return to make a
fresh life for themselves in these
villages. The world recoils today
at the thought of bacteriological
warfare, but Israel was probably
the first to actually use it in the
Middle East.”
Naeim Giladi said that the reason for
publishing this book:
“That Jews from Islamic lands did
not emigrate willingly to Israel;
that, to force them to leave, Jews
killed Jews; and that, to buy time
to confiscate ever more Arab
lands.”
Naeim Giladi gives evidence on the
secret exodus of Iraqi Jews and of
the bombings that took place during
the period of 1950-1951.
The anti-Jewish riots of 1941 did
more than creating a pretext for the
British to enter Baghdad to reinstate
the pro-British regent. They also
gave the Zionists in Palestine a
pretext to set up an underground
Zionism in Iraq, first in Baghdad,
then in other cities such as Basra,
Amara, Hillah, Diwaneia, Abril, and
Kirkuk.
Following World War II, a
succession of governments held
power in Iraq. Zionist conquests in
Palestine, particularly the massacre
of Palestinians in the village of Deir
Yassin, emboldened the anti-British
movement in Iraq. When the Iraqi
government signed a new treaty of
friendship with London in January
1948, riots broke out all over the
country. The treaty was quickly
abandoned and Baghdad demanded
removal of the British military
mission that had run Iraq’s army for
27 years.
In September 1949, Israel sent the
spy Mordechai Ben-Porat, the one
mentioned as Venom of the Zionist
Viper to Iraq.
Soon after, Zionist and Iraqi
representatives began formulating a
rough draft of the bill, according to
the model dictated by Israel through
its spies in Baghdad. The bill was
passed by the Iraqi parliament
in March 1950, empowering the
government to issue one-time exit
visas to Jews wishing to leave the
country. In March, the bombings
began.
Later in 1948, Baghdad sent an
army detachment to Palestine to
fight the Zionists, and when Israel
declared independence in May, Iraq
closed the pipeline that fed its oil to
Haifa’s refinery. I was in the Abu-
Greib prison in 1948, where I would
remain until my escape to Iran in
September 1949.
• The exact date was 19th March
1950: a bomb went off at the
American Cultural Center and
Library in Baghdad, causing
property damage and injuring
a number of people. The center
was a favourite meeting place
for young Jews.
• The first bomb thrown directly
at Jews occurred on 8th April
1950, at 9:15 pm. A car with
three young passengers hurled
the grenade at Baghdad’s El-
Dar El-Bida Café, where Jews
were celebrating Passover.
Four people were seriously
injured. That night leaflets were
distributed calling on Jews to
leave Iraq immediately.
• The next day, many Jews, most
of them poor with nothing to
lose, jammed emigration offices
urges them to renounce their
citizenship and to apply for
permission to leave for Israel.
Issues of the Edition
So many applied, in fact, that
the Iraqi police had to open
registration offices in Jewish
schools and synagogues.
• On 10th May, at 3 am, a grenade
was tossed in the direction of the
display window of the Jewish-
owned Beit-Lawi Automobile
Company, destroying part of
the building. No casualties were
reported.
• On 3rd June 1950, another
grenade was tossed from a
speeding car in the El-Batawin
area of Baghdad, where most
rich Jews and middle class
Iraqis lived. No one was hurt,
but following the explosion
Zionist activists sent telegrams
to Israel requesting that the
quota for immigration from Iraq
be increased.
• On 5th June, at 2:30 am, a
bomb exploded next to the
Jewish owned Stanley Shashua
building on El-Rashid street,
resulting in property damage but
no casualties.
• On 14th January 1951, at 7 pm,
a grenade was thrown at a group
of Jews outside the Masouda
Shem-Tov Synagogue. The
explosive struck a high-voltage
cable, electrocuting three
Jews, one a young boy, Itzhak
Elmacher, and wounding over
30 others. Following the attack,
the exodus of Jews jumped to
between 600-700 per day.
• On 14th March 1951, a bomb
exploded in front of the
American Information Center
near Safafeer copper market,
El-Rashid street in Baghdad, a
place regularly visited by Jews
in large numbers, which resulted
in the injuries of some, but no
casualties.
Sixteen years later, the Israeli
magazine Haolam Hazeh, published
by Uri Avnery, then a Knesset

 member, accused Ben-Porat of the
Baghdad bombings. Ben-Porat, who
would become a Knesset member
himself, denied the charge, but
never sued the magazine for libel.
And Iraqi Jews in Israel still call him
Morad Abu Al-Knabel, Mordechai
of the Bombs.
Giladi confirms that the Zionist
propagandists still maintain that the
bombs in Iraq were set off by anti-
Jewish Iraqis, who wanted Jews out
of their country. The terrible truth
is that the grenades that killed and
maimed Iraqi Jews and damaged
their property were thrown by
Zionist Jews.
Among the most important
documents in my book, I believe,
are copies of two leaflets published
by the Zionist underground calling
on Jews to leave Iraq. One is dated
16th March 1950, the other 8th April
1950.

The difference between these two

is critical. Both indicate the date
of publication, but only the 8th
April leaflet notes the time of day:
4 pm Why that time of day? Such
a specification was unprecedented.
Even the investigating judge,
Salaman El-Beit, found it suspicious.
Did the 4 pm writers want an alibi
for a bombing they knew would
occur five hours later? If so, how did
they know about the bombing? The
judge concluded they knew because
a connection existed between the
Zionist underground and the bomb
throwers.

This, too, was the conclusion of

Wilbur Crane Eveland, a former
Senior Officer in the Central
Intelligence Agency (CIA), whom I
had the opportunity to meet in New
York in 1988. In his book, Ropes of
Sand, whose publication the CIA to terrorize the Jews, the began to appear urging Jews to

Eveland does not detail the evidence
linking the Zionists to the attacks,
but in my book I do. In 1955, for
example, I organized in Israel a
panel of Jewish attorneys of Iraqi
origin to handle claims of Iraqi Jews
who still had property in Iraq. One
well known attorney, who asked
that I not give his name, confided in
me that laboratory tests in Iraq had
confirmed that the anti-American
leaflets found at the American
Cultural Center bombing were
typed on the same typewriter and
duplicated on the same stenciling
machine as the leaflets distributed
by the Zionist movement just before
8th April bombing.
Tests also showed that the type of
explosive used in the Beit-Lawi
attack matched traces of explosives
found in the suitcase of an Iraqi Jew
by the name of Yosef Basri. Basri,
a lawyer, together with Shalom
Salih, a shoemaker, would be put
on trial for the attacks in December
1951, and executed the following
month. Both men were members
of Hashura, the military arm of
the Zionist underground. Salih
ultimately confessed that he, Basri
and a third man, Yosef Habaza,
carried out the attacks.

It is important to mention here the
book “Road in the Desert” by Yosef
Meir, which refers to the execution
threat letters to Iraqi officer, Abdul
Rahman Al Samerai who exposed
the terrorist Zionist organization
in Iraq and carried out executions
on some of its members, as well
as threats to Abdul Jabbar Fahmi,
Police Chief at that time, Salman
Bayat, the Governor, and Shakir Al-
Ani, Attorney-General, following
the verdict.
It is also essential to point out to
the book “To Baghdad and Back”
by Mordechai Ben Porat, which
confirms the daily flights organized
to transport Jews from Iraq to
Palestine through Arab airports.

In an interview with the Israeli Scene,
Israeli political activist Sadiq Sadiq,
an Iraqi Jew, admitted saying that,
“I was born in Iraq. I migrated
to Israel in 1951, and I was not
the only migrant. The number of
Iraqis, who came to Israel that
year was approximately 130,000
Iraqis.”
He said in an interview: “One of
the means used to force the Jews
of Iraq to flee their land is the
bombings that were carried out in
the Jewish synagogues by its spies,
so that it would be said that Arabs
are bombing the synagogues to
throw the Jews out. But the Jews,
who were involved in the bombings
of the synagogues in Baghdad
were arrested. From all of this,
we conclude that Arabs did not
throw the Jews out of their land,
but the Zionist movement did,
and the Mossad was responsible
for their immigration, as it was
not possible to build the State of
Israel without the immigration
and gathering of Jews from all
over the world to Palestine. Thus,
all the means were used to achieve
this, including organized Zionist
terrorism.”
Shlomo Hillel and “Operation
Babylon: The Story of the Rescue
of the Jews of Iraq”
“Operation Babylon: The Story
of the Rescue of the Jews of Iraq”
is a memoir for the author and a
significant historical documentation.
It is the first of its kind to
collect testimonies of the illegal
immigration from the East. The
book tells a dramatic description
for the underground activities which
took place during that period, and
the bold operations which were
carried out to force Jews to migrate,
from the author’s point of view, in
addition to analyzing the historical

 and political background of the
events during that period.
Hillel was born to a Jewish family
in Iraq. In the mid-1940s, he left
Iraq a young man to join the Zionist
movement in Palestine, where he
was recruited by the Mossad, the
intelligence agency of Israel, to
carry out special operations for
Zionists and Israel inside Iraq.
Since then, the Mossad would send
Hillel secretly to Iraq several times
for exploratory and preparatory
covert visits from Palestine to Iraq,
with the pretence of taking part in
the deporting operations of Iraqi
Jews, who wanted to permanently
leave Iraq and come to Palestine, as
per the law of relinquishing the Iraqi
citizenship by those who want to
voluntarily leave Iraq permanently,
a law which had recently been
issued. In reality, he was organizing
the illegal immigration of Iraqi Jews
to Palestine.
Meanwhile, his family stayed in
Baghdad all this time. He was
exposed more than once by the
Iraqi Intelligence Service and was
detained by the Iraqi authorities
on charges of carrying out Zionist
operations. But he was released.
In early March, when the
Denaturalization Act was issued for
the Jews who wish to permanently
leave Iraq, the Mossad sent Hillel to
Baghdad in order to arrange for the
Iraqi Jews, who want to benefit from
the Act, their travel to Palestine. His
official job title was Representative
of the Near East Air Transport
Company, an American charter
company in reality owned by the
Jewish Agency in Palestine.

Arab traditional cloths (the gown
and the Agal), between Palestine,
Iraq, Turkey, and Iran, to execute
his criminal operations which were
assigned to him by the Zionist

names: Dekel, Auren and Beirman.

to 1952, 105,000 Jew emigrants
were transported to Israel, after

Iraq was 12,000 Jews. However,
