How to Applique:
1. Lay your Heat and Bond Lite (or other sewable, fusible web)
onto your applique pattern with the bumpy side down.

2. Trace each part of the applique onto the Heat and Bond Lite
and cut around the shape, not directly on the line.

3. Fuse the Heat and Bond Lite to the wrong side of your
applique fabric.

How to Applique (cont):
4. Cut out your shapes, this time on the lines!

5. Peel off the paper backing and decide on the placement.

When you’re happy with the placement, cover with a press
cloth and press to fuse applique to the fabric.
6. Continue with each shape until your shape is complete. Use
the applique pattern as a guide.

How to Applique (cont):
7. Gather matching thread or threads. You can use all-purpose
thread or embroidery threads. I’m using embroidery threads
because I have them. Both work perfectly fine. I’m using all-
purpose thread the color of my towel in the bobbin.
8. Optional, but helpful: Add a piece of stabilizer to the back of
your design. Pin in place.
9. Set your machine to stitch the appliques. You can use the largest
zig zag stitch on your machine or a close set of straight stitches to
edgestitch around the shape.

Tip: When sewing around curves and corners, leave the needle down in
the fabric on the OUTSIDE edge of the design. Then, raise the presser
foot and pivot the fabric as needed. Lower the presser foot and
continue sewing until the design is complete.

Tip: You can continue the tutorial to make a lined towel, you
can serge the edges of your towel, or use a finished washrag.
