WESTERN ARCTIC SPORTS COMPETION

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS

PART I - INTRODUCTION
1. This booklet is designed to provide you with some information about the exercise.
It contains information regarding what to bring, what to expect, and information your
parent/guardian will want to know about where you will be spending your time.

2. Training will consist of various sports and skills and will be conducted in
accordance with training Schedule to be provided upon arrival.

PART II - DETAILS
TRANSPORTATION
3. Regional Cadet Support Unit (Northwest) [RCSU (NW)] will arrange transportation.
Details will be forwarded to your unit Commanding Officer, who will provide you with the
necessary instructions and/or documents.

4. Cadets and Supervisors are not required to travel in uniform to this activity.

PASSES - DAY/OVERNIGHT/WEEKEND
5. Due to the short training period and nature of the exercise, overnight or day passes
will not be authorized.

ACCOMMODATIONS

6. Cadets will be staying at military accommodations, and linens will be provided.

KIT REQUIREMENTS
7. Cadets should plan for sports conducted indoors at a gym. Cadets will bring
the following items:

a. toiletries/towel;

b. minimum of three changes of underclothing and socks;

c. sweat suit ;

d. running shoes;

e. eyeglass sports retainer (if applicable);

f. swimsuit and towel;

g. sweater/sweat shirt;

h. T-shirts;

i. Ball Cap;

j. toque; and

k. gloves;

8. Cadets are encouraged not to bring valuables. However if brought, they are the
sole responsibility of the individual and will not be used during training.

9. Cadets and supervisors are not required to bring uniforms to the activity.

10. The following items MAY NOT be brought and WILL be confiscated and held for
return upon departure:

a. Knives; and

b. Tobacco products including snuff and cigarettes.

11. Questions regarding the kit list are to be directed to J35 RDA (Trg O).

12. It is recommended items brought be marked with the cadet's name.

DISCIPLINE
13. A cadet may be returned home if they:

a. cannot meet the training standards;

b. cannot adapt to training;

c. are declared physically or medically unfit; or

d. are a discipline problem.

14. Parents will be notified in advance if a cadet is to return home early.

15. The possession or use of alcohol or mood altering drugs is absolutely forbidden.
Use or possession of these substances will result in an automatic return to unit and will
be reported to the military or civilian police in accordance with CADET ADMINISTRATIVE
AND TRAINING ORDERS 13-23.

16. Fraternization between cadets will not be tolerated.

17. Smoking will not be permitted during the exercise.

MEDICAL AND DENTAL


18. All cadets are entitled to emergency medical and dental treatment while on the
exercise. Cadets must however, bring their Provincial Health Insurance card / and
the Supervising Officer must have each cadets Medical Information Summary
Sheet from Fortress with the number recorded.

19. If applicable, eyeglass prescription or an extra pair of glasses is to be brought to


exercise. A sports retainer is to be used by all cadets wearing prescription glasses while
under training.

20. Cadets taking prescribed medication must advise the escort officers upon arrival
at the exercise. Cadets are to bring sufficient medication for the duration of the exercise.

21. Non-prescription medication such as aspirin or cough medicine shall not be


brought to the training centre.
