THÁI NGUYÊN

About 300 poor elementary and secondary school students in the northern mountainous province of Thai
Nguyen will have a new school named Samsung Hope School which was inaugurated on June 26th.

The school was opened by Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) in collaboration with the
Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association in Thai Nguyen and Korea Food for the Hungry
International (KFHI).

The school, with an investment of VND 22 billion (USD 950,000), has been built with the hope
of bringing comprehensive childhood development activities to children in the province.

SEV Thai Nguyen sponsored USD 500,000, which includes the entire construction cost and the
operating cost for the first year. The rest of the operating budget will be collected through
sponsorship from charity organisations, donors and SEV.
In the morning of August 01st, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in
collaboration with Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co. Ltd (SEV) held wheelchair donation to the
disabled in the province.

People's Committee; leaders of Provincial People's Committee Office, Department of Labor, War
Invalids and Social Affairs, Provincial Labor Confederation, and representative of SEV.
Since very first investment in Bac Ninh in 2008, apart from promoting business activities and
creating jobs for tens of thousands of employees inside and outside the province, SEV has
always focused on Corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and conducted many
charitable activities. Every year, SEV pays 1.4 billion VND to participate in such activities
namely donating clean water system to kindergartens in Yen Phong district, granting
scholarships to poor students, offering wheelchairs to the disabled, and so on.
At the event, SEV donated 100 wheelchairs worth VND 110 million to 100 disabled people in
the province. It shows the spirit of mutual support and sharing the social responsibility for the
disabled people in need.
