Social Justice and the City

He tries to convey the importance to explore how ideas in social and moral philosophy could be related to
geographical enquiry and to those fields in intellectual endeavour such as planning and regional studies with
which geography has much in common. Nature of space, the nature of theory, and nature of knowledge have
been focused more and tries to represent various evolving viewpoints. Later chapters take on more onto
understanding the general viewpoints that surround the topic of interest. The four themes that surrounds
this central concern with social process and social form are frequently discussed throughout.
NATURE OF THEORY
Theory stems to be evolved from an artificial separation of methodology from philosophy. The act of
categorization is quite fundamental: it is vital to understand how categorize are established and in particular
how they take on meaning and are transformed through and in use. There has been evolution in verification
too. Initially the verification was just considered as the matter of establishment of relevance and applicability.
Different types of theories can also be noted as theories provides insight into the questions of verification.
Verification is achieved through practice which means that theory is practice.
NATURE OF SPACE
The nature of space has always remained mysterious to social enquiry. If we consider the space as absolute a
thing becomes itself. There is another way in which space are viewed as relative, which are coined as space
related. The approach is to understand the true meaning of space. How the space exists in a scenario.
Approach is taken in such a way to discover what a space is and to discover a way to represent it. This
approach fades in the latter essays and space becomes whatever we make it during the analysis stage and
space becomes whatever we make of it during the process of analysis rather than prior to it. Social processes
and spatial forms, are the most part, distinct in our minds if not in reality and it has been a fundamental
concern.
THE NATURE OF SOCIAL JUSTICE
The idea of social justice is at first drew nearer as though social and good philosophy is an unmistakable field
of enquiry through which supreme ethical standards can be set down with the full power of moral law.it
evaluates events and activities in the urban context. The difference between the fact and value is too
consistent with the distinction between the methodology and philosophy.
THE NATURE OF URBANISM
Urbanism was initially regarded as a thing in itself. Urbanism is narrated as a vantage point from which
salient features can be understood. Failing to distinguish between production and distribution have a impact
upon how urbanism is viewed. Urbanism and the social and spatial transformation embedded evolution form
the hard testing ground for socio-geographic theory.
Social justice, space and urbanism are viewed as topics in themselves which can be studied in abstractions,
once we understand what space is and to which social justice it belongs to we can understand urbanism
through detailed studies.
