Batting

1.

Instructions - In pairs, nominate 1 student to
bat and 1 student to bowl
- The batsman aim is to hit the
ball off the tee using a front foot
drive technique
- The fieldsman has to get the ball
and roll it back to the batter
- Once the batsman has 6 hit,
swap rolls


Variations and Extensions - Make group of threes and have
two fielders
- A progression for batting is to
remove the Tee and get the
student to hold the ball under
his/her chin and drop it then hit
it after 1 bounce


LEST Learners – Stay in Pairs along a line set
up previously
Equipment – 2 balls, 1 bat, 1 tee and 2
cones per group
Space – 10x 10m area
Time – 10 minutes

2. Rapid Fire


Instructions - Students are spilt into two
teams, 1 is batting and 1 is
fielding
- The aim of the batting team is
hit the ball off the Tee into the
gaps between the fielders and
then run as many times as
possible between the wickets
- The aim of the fielding team is
to not let the ball get past them
and then run it back to the Tees
- Swap rolls
- Team with most runs win


Variations and Extensions - Add wicket keepers
- Add more of a scoring system
- Change distance to hit


LEST Learners – Students stay within the
game area
Equipment – 1 x bat, 6 x cones, 2 x
wickets, 3 x balls
Space – 20 meter area
Time – 15 minutes
