Lesson Planner

Date: Thursday December 1st Lesson: TGFU Basketball Unit  Grade: 9/10 Location: Gym

Objective: Goal for this lesson = Making shooting fun and competitive. Giving students a various range
of difficulty to shoot a basketball 

GLO:
- Movement Knowledge (A- basic movement, B- movement development, C- activity-specific
movement)
- Movement Skills (A-Acquisition of movement skills)
SLO:
- K.1.S2.A.1: Analyze own level of performance of selected movement skills according to
proper form/technique (For shooting a basketball evaluating the key cues)
- K.1.S2.B.1: Examine the factors that may have influenced own movement skill
development (distance from the net, size of ball, prior experience)
- K.1.S1.B.3: Analyze movement concepts related to game strategies in team activities.
(Space awareness and relationships as applied to person-to-person defence when looking
at shooting, being aware)
- K.1.S2.C.2: Analyze the effectiveness of offensive and/or defensive strategies in a variety
of specific games and sport situations (knowing how to shoot from different sports on the
court, being able to shoot from more than just one)
- S.1.S1.A.2: Select and refine manipulation skills, applying mechanical principles related
to activity specific physical activity skills. (mechanics behind the cues learnt to shoot a
basketball properly when applied to motion and force)

Activate Part 2 Shooting Cones: Equipment needed:


-In teams of 5 - 2 balls a team   Mini cones
Time: 10 minutes -Separate class into sections,  Basketballs 
place small cones all over the  Nets 
ground
-Task is to shoot ball into hoop
from the different cones
- when 2 shooters are shooting the
other 2-3 people are waiting
under the basket to receive
rebound, then will swap with
partner to shoot from a cone.
-When you sink a ball into the net
you remove the cone. 
-Timer for 4 minutes. 
-At the end of the timer each
group will count how many cones
they have left.

Apply Basketball Golf: Equipment needed: 


-Tape Index Cards to the floor  Index cards with Whole
15 minutes around the gym.  and Par # on it. 
-The hole numbers should begin  All 6 basketball nets 
with 1 and move clockwise  Basketballs

-use all 6 basketball nets making 6x3 = 18
3 clockwise rotations around the  3 holes at each basket

Reminders 
-have students shoot from the side
of the card and not the top as it
will wear down the paper. 
-2 groups can shoot from 1
number at a time (on either side
of the card)

Closure  Have students write on the back


of the card cues to shooting a
5 minutes basketball. 

Assessment Use the back of the scorecards for


the assessment as an exit slip
