Introduction – Niro-Ball Time
We will start class in the classroom, and I will do attendance and go over the schedule of
the day with the class

Have students put their bags on the side of the gym

Warm up activity: Rock, paper, scissors tag

 Ensure that everyone knows how to play Rock, Paper, Scissors.
 Everyone is "It".
 On "go" the kids run around the gym or designated outdoor play area and try
and tag each other.
 When one child has tagged another, both kids stop running and play a quick
game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. The person (A) who loses the game sits down.
The person (B) who won the game keeps running.
 (A) sits on the floor or grass and carefully watches (B). As soon as (B) loses a
game of Rock, Paper, Scissors and sits down, then (A) can jump up again and
play.
15 mins
Introduction to Activities
 Have students come to the middle of the gym to sit and listen to instructions
 Inform students that we will be playing Niro-Ball and handball for the first half of class
 I will go over the general rules of Niro-ball:
o I will split the class into 8 teams of 4
o Teams will be paired-up with another team who will be switching between
offence and defense throughout the game
o If your team is on OFFENCE: you are on the floor passing and attempting to
score
o If you are on DEFENCE: you are defending the wall and trying to stop goals
from the opposing team
o Once your offence scores then they switch positions with their defense!
o When in possession of the ball you cannot dribble – you are allowed 2 steps
o You can only hold the ball for 3 seconds MAX
o In order to SCORE you must bounce the ball off the ground and hit the wall in
the scoring area (marked by cones)

Body – Small Gym (Niro-Ball/Handball) Time

Handball Part One: We will start off my playing handball: 30 min
o Each team consists of six outfield players and a goalkeeper.
Each goal is worth one point and the team with the most points
at the end of the game wins. When in possession, a player can
pass, shoot or dribble the ball – similar to in basketball.
o A player is permitted to take up to three steps for up to three
seconds at a time without dribbling the ball. Further key rules
include no player being allowed in the goalkeeper’s area and
not being able to pass back to the goalkeeper whilst he remains
3
in his area.

o 24 student’s totals:
o 4 teams of 6

I will give every student a number between 1-6 and that will be their
team for the class.
o Teams will then be assigned a pinnie color

Each team will then warm up:

 Follow your pass drill

 Star passing drill

Game Schedule: 5-minute games

 1 Vs 2
 3 Vs 4
 2 Vs 3
 1 Vs 4

Part Two: Niro Ball

o I will explain the rules (the are listed in the introduction tab)
o Instead of 4 teams of 6 like we did for handball we will do 6
teams of 4.
o Each team will partner with another team.

o For example:

 Team 1 and Team 2 will be partners

 Team 3 and Team 4 will be partners
 Team 5 and Team 6 will be partners

o Progressions:
 Every 5 minutes I will add a new progression.
 The first game will be played normal
 The first progression will be: The ball has to
hit the wall at a certain point to count as a goal
 The second progression will be: we switch
teams (team 1 and team 3 vs team 2 and team 4)
 The third progression will be: you have to
shoot with your non-dominant hand
 The fourth progression: one step

Games Begin The layout of Team roles Example: 30 mins
