By: Matthew Urrabazo

Introduction:
This week we will be incorporating different types of technology into
our lessons. I feel if we as P.E. teachers can incorporate technology
into our lessons it will help students get a better understanding on
the different types of technology they can use to stay active and live
a healthy lifestyle.

Behavioral Objectives:
Cognitive:
Students will become knowledgeable about different types of
technology that can be used to promote a healthy and active
lifestyle.
Psychomotor:
Students will actively participate in the drills and activities designed
that will keep them active throughout the period.
Affective:
Students will demonstrate respect, and good sportsmanship while
actively participating in the designated drills and activities in a safe
manner.

This game is played like the basic version of kickball, but the only difference is the
person kicking is in a team of 5. When he kicks the ball his teammates are standing
where the rectangle is on the facility layout and as soon as the ball gets kicked the
whole team has to try and make it first base. If one person on the team gets hit/tagged
with the ball before reaching first base the entire team is out. 3 outs per inning. If the
ball hits the ceiling its an automatic 3 outs.

Reflection Paper
I am currently observing at Eisenhower Middle School. My cooperating teacher
is very old fashion, strict with students, and uses the athletes to help run games and
activities. Throughout the entire time I have spent at Eisenhower I have only seen
the students play one of 3 activities; Mat-Ball, Gus Ball, and Knockout. The students
are so used to playing Mat-Ball, Knockout, or Gus Ball that they dont want to play
anything except for those games. On top of that there are certain class periods that
just cant stay out of trouble and end up spending most of their class period sitting
down. I have taught two lessons and helped instruct on many more. For the two
lessons, I taught a lesson on basketball and another on ultimate Frisbee.
My first lesson was a tough one, because I wasnt sure how the students would
act to me teaching them a lesson. I decided to teach a basketball lesson because I
knew a lot of the students enjoyed playing knockout and would enjoy anything doing
with basketball. For their warm-up I used the one that the coaches usually use since
its something they know and I didnt want to waste time teaching them a new
warmup. For my introduction I had the students get their phones out and watch a
You-tube video on how to play dribble a basketball correctly and how to play dribble
knockout. When I asked the students to use their phones I was instantly the best
coach ever, because my corresponding coach wouldnt let them use their phones
during the period. After watching the video I noticed that the students were more
attentive, and actually wanting to participate. From there on it was smooth sailing,
the kids new what to do and how I wanted them to do it. I had to make sure everyone
was following directions, no horse playing, and everyone was staying engaged. At
the end of the lesson I had the students gather around me in a semi-circle sitting
down and asked them some culminating questions.

My second lesson wasnt just as tough as the first one because I was
teaching to a different class period. The class period I chose to teach was
considered one of the more challenging to reach. The reason I chose to teach
to them was because I wanted to challenge myself, of course I couldve
taught to the same class period as before but I knew I could teach to them.
The lesson started with the students doing theyre warm up and gathering
around me to receive instruction. This time instead of having the students
watch a video on their phone, I introduced them to heart rate monitors and
selected the students that would be wearing the heart rate monitor for that
period. Then I demonstrated how to catch and throw a frisbee with my
classmate Juan Rodriguez. After the demonstration I broke the students into
groups to practice throwing and catching a frisbee before they played the
game. Once the students finished practicing, I separated them into two teams
and the ultimate frisbee game began. At first the game was going a little slow
but once the students got into the game it flowed smoothly. At the end of the
lesson the students gathered around me and I talked about what diastolic and
systolic pressure is and what they mean together.
In conclusion the students really liked the learning about the different types
of technology and how to use them. Once the technology was introduced the
students payed more attention to the teach and were more willing to
participate.
