Smart Grid is a form of electricity network utilizing the digital smart technology
and implementing it into the traditional electrical grid. It is a two way
communication which connects between the suppliers, distributors, and consumers.
It delivers electricity from suppliers to consumers using two way communications
to control appliances present at consumers home , which in deed will saving the
energy , reduce the cost of extra production of energy during peak hours to level up
with the consumer need and this also increases the reliability.
A key feature of the Smart Grid is automation technology, that lets the utility to
adjust and control each individual device and millions of devices from a central
location. In India more than 800 million people who lack access to modern energy ,
and passes through energy poverty, and most important challenges is children faces
difficulty to study in the evening or night. Smart Grid can be seen as the innovative
solution. Smart Grid is energy network that align the demand and supply of energy
by using ICT. ICT’s helps to distribute the available electricity to where’s needed.
Smart Grid will completely digitalizing the electric circuit. In this innovation their
will be integration with the renewable sources of energy like wind farm and solar
system and the existing non renewable source of power generation. It also consists
of Smart home which communicate with the grid and enable consumers to manage
their electricity bills through a Smart Meter. The theft of electricity can be
monitored and can be stopped to greater extend. During bad weather or sudden
change in electricity demand can lead outages the Smart Grid distribution
intelligence finds out this energy fluctuation by automatically with help of sensors,
and after identifying problems it will re-route and re-storing power delivery by
itself.
This project of Smart Grid is about developing and implementing in rural India and
also the solution which is cost-effective, which can be immediately scaled up , get
the benefits of economies of scale. How can the work to be done transparently,
honestly, and equal opportunities to all, also it can be the opportunity for large
employment.
