Technical specification of the control

5.6 Control of the load bank

- The load bank consists of 7 steps with 50kW each which are controlled by the PLC of the engine control

- Is the engine running below 300kW for an adjustable time, one step with 50kW will be switched on the
bus bar. Is there still load missing to reach 300kW, further steps will be switched on the bus bar one by
one according adjusted intervals.

- For starting of big auxiliaries/pumps: IFL131 (ready to start pump) must be set (contact remains “high”) –
GEJ switches one step on the bus bar and waits a certain time for the engine to be running stable – by
setting IFL132 (release to start pump) GEJ releases the pump to be started. By switching off IFL131, GEJ
sheds one load step and the customer starts the released pump in the same moment.

- The Diane ensures the measurement of the engine power.

- Cooling fan with air flow detection which indicates a warning on the Diane.

- Additional warnings: “common alarm” and “contactor failure”

- ATTENTION:
Installation of the load bank in a safe area due to risk of injury by burning on hot air flow!
