History:-
Basic operating system features were developed in the 1950s such asresident monitor.
Operating system were made for personal computers in 1980

Defination:-
An operating system (OS) is software that allows a user to run other applications on
the computing devices. It is a soft ware that controls the operations of a computer and directs
the processing of programs. All computers have operating system.

Types of Operating System:-


 Single and multi tasking
 Single and multi user
 Distributed
 Templated
 Embedded
 Real time
 Library

Working:-
The operating system is the first thing that loaded on to the computer .Without
operating system computer is useless. The operating system manages a computer hardware
resources including:

 Input devices such as keyboard and mouse


 Out put devices such as printers scanners and disply monitors
 Network devices such as modems, routers andnetwork connections
 Storage devices such as internal and external devices

Your computer’s operating system manages all of the software and hardware on the
computer. Most of the time, there are several different computer programs running at the
same time, and they all need you to access your computers central processing unit, memory
and storage. The operating system coordinates all of this to make sure each program gets
what it need.

 Microsoft windows (like Window 10, Window 8, Wimdow7,window vista and
