1. Mention five methods of calculating reserves!

Answer :
 Volumetrik
 Material Balance
 Decline Curve
 Analogy
 Numerical Reservoir Simulation
2. Explain the difference between the drainage and imbibition processes! (tarek)
Answer :
 Drainage process : The process of generating the capillary pressure curve
by displacing the wetting phase, i.e., water, with the nonwetting phase
(such as with gas or oil).
 Imbibition Process : The other principal flow process of interest involves
reversing the drainage process by displacing the nonwetting phase (such
as with oil) with the wetting phase, (e.g., water).
3. The following illustration is the resistivity of earth material that common in
Petroleum industry. Is that correct or incorrect? If incorrect, give the correct order!

Answer : Incorrect
rock – gas – oil - fresh water - salt water

cementation exponent, resistivity index, water saturation, saturation exponent,
relative permeability, Capillary pressure, waterflood susceptibility

5. Look at this picture!

This is a graph that show about gas lift design. What is number 1, 2, and 3 ?
Answer :

6. A well is producing oil with 2250 bpd flowrate. Its Productivity Index (PI) is known
at 2.5 STB/day/psi, and currently has 850 flowing pressure (Pwf). Calculate its
static pressure (Ps)!
Answer :
J = Q/(Ps-Pwf) = 900 Psi
(Ps-Pwf) = Q/J Ps – 850 = 900
= 2250/2.5 Ps = 900 + 850 = 1750 Psi

10. The geologic principle uniformitarianism was formulated by James Hutton on
1785, what uniformitarianism is about?
Answer :
It is the assumption that the same natural laws and processes that operate in
the universe now, have always operated in the universe in the past and apply
everywhere in the universe. It has included the gradualistic concept that "the
present is the key to the past" and is functioning at the same rates.
