Taxonomy of social networking sites
When anyone listen the word taxonomy he have a different meaning arrive in his own mind
according to his personal knowledge and experience and this meaning vary from person to
person. The web designer , information architect and every other person have different point of
view about taxonomy according to his field .As a human mind commercial search engines are
not too intelligent to tell the same meaning of a word. Google gives us the synonym of
taxonomy as classification but if we find somewhere else we will find that it is the way to
organize things whether they are groups or not. We can also define this term as hierarchy of
things.

Our sites needs to organize the different term or classify the things related to each other .We
can then organize the unstructured data or information . Sites organize there data mostly by
two different ways

TOPIC: Some readers , visitor, customer or clients take the topic according to their interest.
TYPE: It means to have the information in contents form of a site.
Basically Sites use the taxonomy for the following purposes:

People navigate the things according to their need:


As people search the things according to their interest like a person can want the information in
both topic and type context.

People can connect to their interest :


Through the taxonomy people can connect to their interest like the taxonomy of your online
material and the user interest.

How to relates Topic and Type through taxonomy:


If the person search about the new designer dresses and view one article about the best brands
all relevant topics are listed in slide bar.

 CURIOSITY:
Curiosity is something that is enhance our interest in anything . Something can be the point of
attraction for someone. Different people share their point of view in social media and someone
may have interest in such kind of information so he want to use that particular social site to see
what kind of material is available whether it is according to his interest or not. So this interest
make you more curious about that particular thing and explore the things.

 LURKING:

At this stage when you developed your interest then you move on to get the knowledge and
understand the content and rule of the medium. Through lurking you can get the wide
knowledge during lurking.

 UNDERSTANDING:
At this stage the one who is using the site consume the information . There is one directional
information flow . We participated in the things when our understanding grow. If we look from
a taxonomy point of view it is a critical situation or point . If the user has no understanding of
the site of social media then his knowledge gaining is fail and his engagement in this certain
social site is no more .

 CONTRIBUTING:
After the understanding of material when the educator’s grip is strong then he move on with it
in the next stage/phase. Contribution is something related to our own part or work e.g when
we add the comment at somewhere or tweet or re-tweet. It may be a some kind of link .You
have to contribute to access this level.

 INTEGRATING:
At this stage the peson use the social media for the sake of their propfessional requirements .
This integration level is more smaller at start but faster with the time.

 ENGAGEMENT:
It is the core of taxonomy of social media . At every level ou must be engaged with the social
media. Engaging means the material you added must be absorb by the person . The person go
through the all phases with the engagement in the social media . Social media is static without
engagement.
