ENVIRONMENTAL CRIMES
Definition:
PRIMARY CRIMES
- Crimes that result directly to the destruction and degradation of the earth resources.
1. CRIMES OF AIR POLLUTION – burning of fossil fuels.
2. CRIMES OF DEFORESTATION – destroying rainforest and forest.
3. CRIMES OF SPECIES DECLINE AND ANIMAL RIGHTS – killing animal with extinct
species for the purpose of selling in the food and goods industry.
4. CRIMES OF WATER POLLUTION – dumping garbage and destruction of lakes, streams,
rivers, sea and ocean.
SECONDARY CRIMES
- Crimes that are generated by ignoring rules aimed at preventing or regulating environmental
terms.
1. STATE VIOLENCE AGAINST OPPOSITIONAL GROUPS – state condemns terrorism but
the state itself used the opposing terrorism in building illegal establishments.
2. HAZARDOUS WASTE AND ORGANISED CRIME – disposal of toxic wastes from one
state to another state managed by an organized crime group.

The state recognizes that the responsibility of cleaning the habitat and environment is
primarily area-based.

Segregation and Collection of solid waste shall be conducted at the barangay level

shall be the responsibility of the municipality or city (Section 10).
