This study aims to find the effect of guided inquiry and free inquiry learning
models on science process skills in terms of cognitive style. This research was
conducted at SMAN 95 Jakarta in the first semester of the 2018-2019 school year.
The population of this study consisted of 30 students in the first experimental
class and 29 students in the second experimental class. The sampling technique
used was purposive sampling technique. This study used a quantitative approach
with the true experiment method. The data obtained showed that the highest
average value was obtained by students in the first experimental class using the
free inquiry learning model. In addition, normality test, homogeneity test,
hypothesis testing using two-way Variance (ANAVA) Analysis and t-dunnet test
were conducted. The results showed that: (1) there was an influence between
guided inquiry method and free inquiry method (Fh = 25.38> Ft = 4.01), (2) there
was a significant influence between the Independent Field and the Dependent
Field (Fh = 52.94> Ft = 4.01), (3) there was an interaction between the learning
methods in terms of cognitive style towards science process skills (Fh = 5.15> Ft
= 4.01), then the results of this study concluded that there is an influence between
the learning model of guided inclusion and free inquiry on science process skills
in terms of cognitive style.
