 Rationale

When I joined the course, I knew that in the coming year or so that I would
be doing modules for. I would learn a huge variety of skills which would
allow me to create a wide range of outcomes.

Looking back on this I was exactly right, the range of skills that I have
gained has been a huge help, having gone from only really doing my work
in Photoshop and never really touching other software except for the
occasional Blender or C4D model.

The first three modules, Games Design, 3D and Motion Graphics, gave
me much more confidence in After Effects, a good knowledge of Maya
and also a stronger understanding of Illustrator. 3D was by far one of
my favourite models and one of the skills I will continue to develop the
most. The next three modules; Magazine Design, UI Design and Games
Jam gave me a much stronger understanding of software such as Unity,
in which I created a Low-Poly game, along with InDesign and Adobe XD,
a software that was new to me since prior to this I had only really used
SketchApp as my software for UI Designs.

These modules have built up my confidence in my design skills along

with providing me with insight into interests I was not previously aware
of having. The skills that I have learnt here will prove highly useful in my
project, particularly the 3D skills which will fill a fairly large portion of this
project since I will be directly involved in modelling and creating the 3D
assets. The skills that I have learnt in InDesign and Adobe XD will also
prove helpful as we are looking at creating either a website or app. The
environment and climate change, is a topic which I am interested in, since
it is going to directly affect the future of billions of people round the world
in ways that we have not quite fully grasped the concept of yet and quite
possibly change the course of humanity. The topic has also been hot in
the news and government debates recently. This is why I am particularly
keen about the concept of recycling and upcycling which is going to be
one of the key themes within this project.
 Concept

Recently, one of our teachers happened to bring in a few old pieces of

equipment, some of which were old World War 2 containers, used for
holding shells during their time.
These containers were only being occupied by some lights and basic
camera equipment but they gave us an idea.

We realised that many PC mods being sold commercially today focus

on implementing current technology into the equipment of the future,
effectively creating something which looked as modern as possible since
this seems to be the niche aesthetic which manufacturers and enthusiast
modders want to create, possibly because the future has millions of
possibilities.

However this completely cuts out the past and the history behind
computers, how they were made and what they were used for, and
without computers the world would be a very different place.

The concept for our project is to take something that has history, in this
case we have decided to use a container which was used to ship tank
shells, and turn it into something that both reflects modern innovation
but also holds values of history and meaning.

While doing this, we also want to create a branding, advertising and

social media campaign surrounding our product which will contain
advertising, videos and streams of the creation of our product.

When it comes to presenting the final piece, once we have created the
piece we will do a variety of cinematography and photography with it
which will then go on to be presented on a wix site.

The container which we have gained to use within the project, has been
used by the army for its original purpose of being used as a shipping
container, however it was never recycled by the army for being used for
its original purpose again and instead was just left to effectively rust. We
have saved it and repurposed it.
 Evaluating my work

Evaluation is going to be an essential part of our project, particularly

since we are creating a product which could potentially be sold
commercially.

While the project is ongoing, we will repeatedly meet as a group to

discuss the current standing of the project, along with what has been
created, what needs to be created and what is currently being worked
on or completed. We will also log the changes and developments of our
project in a document. This log will help us keep track of the work we have
already done along with what is currently being developed and what still
needs to be done.

The use of a production log will also help while analysing any changes
which need to be made along with any creation process logging that was
particularly complex, details such as this will help the group especially if
we are working together on one of the parts of the project that need to
be finished.

Our team also has plans to document the process through the medium of
social media accounts and livestreams along with a written log. When it
comes to the final evaluation of our product, we want to make sure that
the product we have created by the end of the project is something which
can be marketed and sold as a commercial product.
