NATURAL AND ELEGANT SPACE

ELEMENTS OF DESIGN

The space looks natural and cozy yet having a sense of elegance and with an adventurous edge. The
white background makes the room looks bright and fresh; the old wood square coffee table with the
animal print rug, and the vintage garden stool repurposed as an accent side table gives the space a
sense of tradition and exotic feel. This space reminds you of a contemporary resort hotel.

The vertical lines of the carpet accentuates the depth and length of the space and is duplicated by the
bold vertical lines of the tall windows. When looking from this angle, the vertical lines of the carpet and
windows creates a vision of more height giving the space its elegant look. The lines on the carpet also
leads the eye out of the window, bringing in the outside view inside. The height of the floor lamp and
the direction of the greenery’s height also contribute to the grandiosity of the space.

Various shapes are incorporated into the space – circles, squares, rectangles, triangles. The shape of the
coffee and black end table are square giving off a serious feel to the space, contrasted with the circular
vintage garden and whicker stool. There are subtle hints of feminity incorporated like the curves of the
accent chairs, border of the mirror and the bending of the greenery and some decors.
The colors are very natural and the shades of brown in this space adds warmth to the room. Along with
some golden and metal accents which combines a modern and warmth feel. The greenery also adds a
tinge of rejuvenation and complements the natural tones of the space.

The texture of the smooth concrete floor reflects the light from the window. The whicker textured
carpet and the plant basket also adds roughness to the space. The leather accent chair contrasts the
beige fabric sofa creating a natural richness and gives it a sleek look. The fabric sofa will definitely be
comforting especially on cold nights.

The tall windows and the reflective concrete floor let in generous natural light that streams into the
room and increases the sense of space. The table lamp and floor lamp also provides an accent light
source in the evening adding an intimate mood.

The bold patterns and texture of the throw pillow, rug and the abstract picture wall frames keeps the
neutral elements interesting.

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

The sofa chairs and accent chairs are laid out equally on both sides. The floor lamp with the big leafy
plant in the ceramic vase is weighed out equally by the table lamp and the tall plant on the opposite
side.

Rhythm and repetition can be seen in the squares, rectangles and circular shapes in the room – the
windows, frames, tables, stools, lamp heads and mirror. A neutral color scheme is also applied through
the space consisting of browns, black, gold and white.

The center of attention in this space is definitely the outside view and the abstract gold frames.

This space is definitely harmonious. The greens complementing the natural tones, the furniture shapes
contrasting each other and the way it was laid out,the spacing between the furnitures, the continuous
flow of vertical lines that directs the eyes to the play of textures and patters and colors makes this living
room a harmonious space.
CHEERFUL AND AIRY SPACE

ELEMENTS OF DESIGN

The natural wood beams, wicker basket, rustic table, hammock and with the added yellow and pastel
blue tones with hints of greenery, gives a sense of coziness and warmth to the space. It reminds you of a
relaxing sunny day at the beach.

The horizontal beams against the white ceiling duplicated by the horizontal lines from the rustic coffee
table leads the eye side to side and creates a sense of a wider space. The vertical lines of the gray
cabinet, window frame and the crochet wall art creates a balanced height. Curve lines of the yellow
dining chair, hammock and the curve flow of the crochet wall art has a softening and graceful effect to
the space. The diagonal lines also from the flower arrangement gives a sense of volume.

A mixture of circles, rectangles and triangles makes up the room. The rectangular shape of the gray
bench and the cabinet complement each other while the circular rustic accent table contrast that of the
rectangular rustic coffee table.

The use of the bold, cheerful and warm yellow creates a fun atmosphere and is toned down by the cool
blue tones. Layering of the pastel blue against the white wall reminds you of clear blue skies. The
natural wood colors of the beams and dining chair legs warms up the space. The copper ceiling lamp
contrasts the natural wood color of the beams giving the ceiling a mid-century cool look.

Natural Light from the window streams into the room and making the pastel blue more lighter and
making the yellow tones bolder. The natural wood flooring also reflects the light. The copper lamp
creates a warm glow.

The plush feathery rug promises comfort. The roughness of the crochet wall art stands out from the
smooth textures of the surrounding furniture and helps creates a visual interest in the space.

The pattern created by the wooden beams takes you to a horizontal journey to explore the opposite
area in the room while the vertical pattern created by the wood flooring guides your eyes to the outside
view. All the colors, texture and shapes in the room all work together.

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

The yellow tones is weighed out equally by the blue tones. Natural light is evenly distributed with the
help of the reflective wood flooring and the glass doors of the cabinet. To achieve balance, the visual
heaviness of the cabinet was weighed out equally with the combination of the heavy texture of the
crochet wall art, hammock and the fur rug.

Repetition and rhythm is evident on the exposed wooden beams on the ceiling and the pattern on the
wood flooring. The rectangle and circular shapes create a rhythm throughout the space—from
rectangular coffee table to a circular one, then to a rectangular cabinet to a circular dining table.

From this point of view, I can tell that the focal point of this space is the crochet hammock and the wall
art, as my eyes are drawn right away to it.

The furniture and accent pieces all complements each other and not one element overpowers the other,
thus making this space looks harmonious.
PLAYFUL AND COZY SPACE

Elements of Design

The space is designed with an open layout and a playful color scheme with some bold accents. The
neutral tones of the dining chairs and table and the living room furniture creates that feeling of coziness
in the space.

The vertical lines of the modern archway lift your eyes upward creating more height to the interior
and strategically open up to the dining area. The archway also gives the space a sense of formality. One
noticeable highlight in this room is also the modern arc lamp that has a soft curve which adds to the
playful mood of this positive space.

A mixture of round, rectangular and square shapes are incorporated into the space. Contrasting the
rectangular coffee table is a round accent table, definitely adding style to the space. Both the
rectangular sofa and the rectangular coffee table complements each other. The use of the square dining
table calls for an informal setting with close family and friends.

The space has a dynamic color scheme of yellow tones, green, pink and blue tones. Bright colors like the
yellow accent chair is toned down by the blue tones in the interior. The white canvass is the perfect
backdrop for this playful space and visually expands the room in all areas, also creating a sense of
tranquility and calmness.
The plush white carpet promise comfort underfoot making it a perfect floor covering for a more cozy
space, while the rough textured carpet in the dining area creates a distinction of space with that of the
living room.

Natural light streams to the space making bright tones brighter and cool tones cooler and clearer. The
vintage looking ceiling lamps together with some accent lamps will definitely create a warm tone to the
entire interior space at night.

There is a repeated pattern of the use of round, square and rectangular furniture and accent decors in
the space—rectangular buffet table with a round table lamp on top, rectangular sofa with round arc
floor lamp and side table, Square frames and square dining table.

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

Everything is balance when it comes to visual weight, as there is no element that is overpowering
another. There is also a balance used of colors spread throughout the interior making two separate
places like the dining and living have a sense of balance mood or feel.

The artwork in the dining area is the focal point of this room. The ceiling lamps guides your eye right to
the artwork.

The dynamic color scheme, arrangement of furnitures and the contrast of shapes and colors and the use
of natural and artificial light creates harmony in the entire space
