Tradition is the living faith of dead, traditionalism is the dead faith of the living. And, I
suppose I should add, it is traditionalism that gives tradition such a bad name."
- Jaroslave Pelikan, The Vindication of Tradition: The 1983 Jefferson
 Tradition is something that takes into account that history of a culture economic
society and religious practices, While Traditionalism demands of a people an
ability to understand that which has brought them to where they now stand, and
the virtue of sacrificing the self and the now for something greater than the self
which transcends our lifetimes; the ability to sustain and pass on a tradition..

“Tradition becomes our security, and when the mind is secure, it is in decay.”
-Jiddu Krishnamurti
 tradition's represent a critical piece of culture and they remind us that we are
part of a history that defines our past, shapes who we are today and who we
are likely to become. Once we ignore the meaning of our traditions, were in
danger of damaging the underpinning of our identify.

“Sometimes tradition and habit are just that, comfortable excuses to leave things be,
even when they are unjust and unworthy. Sometimes – not often, but sometimes – the
cranks and radicals turn out to be right. Sometimes everyone is wrong.”
-Matthew Scully, Dominion: The Power of Man, the Suffering of Animals, and the Call
to Mercy
 For me this means that sometimes tradition limit us in a way that people stick to
the practices and beliefs they have, also use it as excuse/remind us that this is
what we do before even it doesn’t make sense for us, well sometimes it works
but there’s a times that they were self-centered without accepting people’s ideas
since it’s their beliefs and practices.

“Who says that tradition cannot be changed? The traditions which go against the
human values have to be changed, otherwise it is like a poisonous snake that is
hanging on our neck to kill us.”
- Pratibha Ray
 We all know that some traditions came from in our culture and community, some
of them maybe right or wrong. There are some traditions that is promoting
against our human rights and values, we have the ability to oppose it or else it is
like a dangerous thing that could lead to toxicity in the community.

Questions:

a. Why do you think people like to reinvent and try new things away from tradition?
- The reason why I think people like to reinvent and try new things away
from tradition because they already experienced implementing the
traditions and some have bad and good effects. Nowadays there’s a lot of

things and reinvent something that is beyond traditions. Especially we are
in the modern age nowadays and we need to cope up with the technology
that we are having or else we will be left behind, or it has something to do
with our necessities and motivations in life people reinvent because there
is need and/or want in-demand or there is a problem.
